On the Southern end of Elliueh's Womb sits a region which commoners
unofficially call Black Cur's Grin, but is more officially known by the
people of Tubor as Strongjaw. Bordered on the North by Sinjuan, the two
Barony's have had a long standing rivalry with skirmishes over the years
regularly pushing back the land between the two regions in either
direction.
Amid the breathtaking beauty of Lightwater Bay stands an ancient Tor, which rises high above the ruggard landscape on the Southern most cliff of Strongjaw. Built pre-consolidation, it is one of the few monuments within Tubor to stand both the test of time and hurricanes over the years. Storm Tor is still actively manned by Strongjaw and used to watch the seas for approaching vessels.
Duart Manor and a surrounding medium sized town named Paihin exist considerably North of the Tor, on the Western edge of Strongjaw, surrounded by fertile lands which give rise to stunning red wines the region is known for producing.
Historically, save for the last couple of generations, Strongjaw has been long held by the Storm family who are descended from Aerik of the Sword. Aerik is rumoured, with a small handful of men, to have fought off the Lithmorran invaders in Strongjaw in 132. They eventually returned on horse back to finally defeat the region and eventually Tubor. For his prowess in battle, he was rewarded with Duart Manor and a marriage to the current Dukes third daughter, Mari.
The head of the Storm family held the position of Chamberlain to the reigning Duke often referred to as the Lord of the Isles, and his successors for four generations. Their power continued to grow as they extended their boundaries into Sinjiaras land following several skirmishes at their Northern border.
Then in 285, as the Storm family tell it, in retaliation Alia le Sinjiara exposed an illicit affair between Valric le Storm and the current Dukes favoured and married first daughter. Angered, the Storm family was immediately stripped of their title, and ousted from Duart Manor to live in a nearby villa in Paihin.
Many generations later in 352, following a series of advantageous marriages the Storm family built a strong alliance with Beatrice le Strongjaw and played a pivotal role in her rise to become the Duchess of Tubor. Upon her taking the seat, the Storm family were once again granted the Barony of Strongjaw.
