The domain of Margyarna is a sizeable parcel of lands that borders the ducal demesne of Montford to the west. Rocky foothills dominate the fairly arid landscape where the rolling savannah of the northern part of the duchy starts to give way to the sandier south, though a large valley through which the powerful Miraj River runs through is where most of the population of the barony resides.

Springtime melting of the snow fields in the distant Tarn Mountains causes annual flooding of the delta around the river, leaving the valley's soil particularly fertile and well-suited to farming. As a result, a number of cash crops are grown for export, most notably fine spices and herbs such as saffron, clove and sugarcane though large rice paddies and orchards planted along the river and terraced hillsides are also not uncommon sights due to clever feats of irrigation in the drier seasons. Margyarna dates in particular are famed throughout the duchy and even beyond for their unique, exceptionally sweet taste and warm red-brown flesh and are eaten both fresh and dried, and as a result date palms are also readily found within the barony's borders.

While the largest towns are centered in the rich valley lands, smaller settlements dot the hills surrounding them. Veins of copper and iron run through the rocky foothills of the Tarn Mountains and several towns centered around these mines have been established in the past half century. As a result, there is a small but brisk trade in raw ore and manufactured metal goods with neighboring baronies and Montford City.

The current liege, the youthful Baroness Asala de Naderi, was named after the passing of her maternal uncle, the former Baron Margyarna. After a bloody succession battle between his children, her cousin and one of the Baron's younger sons, the Bishop Sameer de Ashimid, bequeathed the title to his father's niece in an attempt to stop the infighting.
