Tucked far in the southwestern corner of the Lithmore Duchy, the
Brayston March has become mostly self-sufficient through necessity. The
Tarn Mountains block off many of the trade routes, especially possibilities
to Farin, and the large water bodies are on the other side of the Duchy.
Hunting is a popular hobby in these parts, and the meats are sold to shops
or used. The major resources of the region are ores and precious metals.
With such direct access to the mountains in a largely untended area, the
mines can reach depths never yet explored. The march had been quiet,
though, until the Civil War in 305 where it earned a name for itself.
Pitting a number of soldiers ranging in the hundreds against a force over
five times its size, they held their ground. Taking casualties near fifty,
their enemies suffered deaths reaching two thousand - a glorious victory
for the march and the Regency Forces. When King Pieter stepped aside to
pass the Crown to his sister, Queen Richael, the territory fell into a
secluded silence.
It has long been ruled by House Brayston, and passed on to Trinity ab Brayston when her sister Katarina married Kaerrick de Winter, the Baron of Cort, in 361.
