Nestled in the southeastern part of the Duchy of Lithmore, the Barony of Elcaster shares borders with several other Baronies and the County of Mont Innes. Its lands are mostly plains for grazing animals and fields used for growing various fruits and herbs. The weather is fairly mild in Elcaster as while its neither on the border with Farin nor next to the Kirulean Sea, its relatively close to both.
Elcaster is known for producing various wines from its local crop of fruits. One of which is a particularly popular peach vintage. Aside from herb, fruit, and wine production the area is also known to be a fairly well traveled tradeway for those passing between the various provinces. Trade flows frequently through Elcaster making it one of the more well off baronies in the area.
The ab Amrels who rule Elcaster used a good deal of funds to build a finely crafted and decently guarded system of roads, to encourage the flow of trade. At the center of this web of roads sits the town of Norbury which is the seat of the noble family ab Amrel. Several other small hamlets and villages are scattered throughout the barony as well, most of them home to farmers and winemakers.
The noble family themselves are known for being shrewd. Alric ab Amrel was the one who had the idea of building toll roads of high quality across the barony and charging merchants and travelers for their use. He also ensured the barony's prosperity in recent years. Now with Alric's passing the Barony of Elcaster falls to his daughter and only child Arissa ab Amrel.
