Argider

Portrait by Player

Public Knowledge:

– The following facts might be considered “public knowledge” about Argider de Roldan:

– He is the son of Julen de Roldan (deceased), a Farin jeweler and gentryman, and Ysena (nee dul Sevarius), a Vavardi merchant’s daughter.

– He is the youngest of seven siblings.  The eldest is currently in charge of both the de Roldan estate and the de Roldan jeweling business in Montford, Farin.

– He was the subject of much unpleasant gossip during his youth, on account of being obnoxious, willful, and generally ill-mannered.  He was sent away to live with a relative after a particularly unpardonable incident in 348 and did not return home for nearly six years.

– His closest confidant is his sister, Arlais, who is three years his elder.  She was married at the age of 16 to a man twice her age; she lives with her husband and their children in Talfore, Farin.

– He is a member of the Knights Lithmorran and the Merchants Guild.

Less is known about:

– His travels.  He has traveled east over the Kirulean Sea to Vavard with his uncle, a Lithmorran merchant (related by marriage), and has been as far east as the Charali Plains.  He has been as far southeast as the Front.

VNPC Quotes
(For fun.)

“Hmm?  Oh, that one.  Yes… I remember.  He was quite the hellion as a boy.  Drove his parents mad with his mischief-making.  Always found a way to push things too far and set a bad example for his playmates.  I never said this… but of all the children of Julen and Ysena de Roldan, Argider was my favorite for those very reasons!”  — A Charali maid in the Roldan household

“Poor soul.  He was starved for attention as a boy, what with his elder brothers making names for themselves and his sisters being married off to men with real prospects.  I don’t think they should have sent him off to Lithmore to live with some stranger the way they did.  I never heard what became of him, Lord bless.”  — A Farin churchgoer

“A menace, that one, and prone to libations… no doubt due to his Vavardi mother!  His father should have shipped him off sooner, if you ask me.  Julen de Roldan never did have any sense outside the business of jewels.” — A Farin gentryman

“Oh, my!  That boy was the worst thorn in my side when he arrived.  Spoiled, selfish, and stupid.  Trampled through my herb garden as if there weren’t a thought in his head.  But he improved over the years.  His Uncle had it right by putting him to work.  I only hope his new city life doesn’t go corrupting him…”  — An elderly Lithmorran woman

“I don’t care what they say.  I wouldn’t trust him around my daughters.  Sinful boys become sinful men.  If only he were more like his brothers.” — A Farin crafstman
