The westernmost point in Tubor, Longcoast is a barony that stretches from the
upper mountains near the Ducal Seat of Tubor, down near the far reaches of
Pertport, and is isolated as though it were an island. Bordering the more
populous and industrious region of Ellieuh's Womb, Longcoast has very few
attractions; its shores are rocky, and the land mostly barren from salt.
Still, however, the barony holds the distinction of having the most castles
and towers in all the Isles, remnants of the great presence the Knights once
held in the province, although most are now abandoned and ruined.
The Layne family has ruled Longcoast ever since the Consolidation, the dynasty's founder, Lucan le Layne, being rewarded the baron title after changing allegiances and joining the forces of Dav late in the conquest. The barony has been the seat of many great Layne Knights, although an abdication in the early months of 373 marked a change to that tradition.
