The Merchants Guild represents a collective group of persons who provide goods and services for profit. While anyone can style themselves as a merchant, it is only those trained in a trade, and with official membership in or license from a local guild chapter, that are recognized as official merchants.

A cornerstone of civilization, merchants today - despite their rocky history during the Consolidation - are credited with ensuring the kingdom's continued prosperity; their tithes alone certainly must account for a significant percentage of coin within the Holy Order's coffers.

In the world of TI, becoming a Merchant is no easy task. There are many obstacles, most of which can be read in help guildinfo guilds. In addition to this, it is important to note that certain trades have prerequisites required by the code in order to learn the trade.

Though exceptions exist, Merchants will often practice one of: Blacksmithing, Chandlery, Jeweling, Leatherworking, Tailoring, Woodworking. Many Merchants also find Mercantilism to be useful.
