Please fix bows

So I used a bow against a target, it gets a 33% chance to break an arrow, which makes sense.

However, after a few shots, my bow broke.

This doesn't make sense to me at all. I can understand arrows taking damage from use because they hit the target(whether an animal, person, or literal target), but not the bow.

Basic upkeep on a bow would take care of any issues regarding tension on the string causing a snap or whatever. But a bow becoming entirely useless when used as it was meant to be makes no sense(Using a bow as an improvised weapon and it taking damage that way does make sense though). Add on the fact that we cannot repair anything made out of wood and we have a skill that I consider a money sink. A person will have to constantly replenish bows and arrows in order to do the simple act of improving the skill.

So, I'd like for bows(not arrows, and not if the bow is used as an improvised weapon) to please be taken off of the list of things that take damage when used.

So here is an update on this.


Basic npc bow: 260 silver

arrows: 3 silver

A quiver of arrows will cost 60 silver, that's 320 silver total.

320 x 4 = 1280, round up to the nearest quarter, 1300.

It will cost 1300xp in order to get just a few ranks in bows through target practice.

This is 1300 -before- xp cost of the actual ranks.

Which makes this skill one of the most expensive skills out there since you will likely go through at least a dozen bows. (I've gone through 2 in a week)

This does not take into account player-made bows, which are considerably cheaper.

Even with a player-made bow, xp cost still comes out to about 700 for a few ranks before having to buy another bow.

I think this has been resolved by the improvement to bow condition.

A bow should now take 80-100 shots to break, and should be repairable from fully broken (i.e., you don't ever need to buy a new one) at a much smaller cost than to originally buy it - so I think this shouldn't be as much of a problem anymore.

It's also worth noting how much bow/arrow costs go down when you buy from PCs... I may make arrows even cheaper for woodworkers to make to make this more workable.
