Karrin claims, "OOC Chat Rules:
- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one player. If there are concerns about a specific player, please address that with staff privately.
- This is not the correct forum for bringing up policy violations. If there are instances of perceived policy violations, please address that with staff privately."
Karrin says, "Oooh, I wasn't here last week. That's right."
Karrin muses, "Anyway, how was RP this week?"
Soulless says, "I've had a ton of fun."
Musketeer says, "In a word? Busy. In more words? Interesting and busy."
Bigman says, "Had a very fun spontaneous evening this week, thanks for what happened."
Soulless claims, "I'm so glad to be back on grid, honestly."
Karrin claims to Musketeer, "Good words."
WeedEater states, "Good."
Eeel states, "RP was sad... but fulfilling. Also I've been terribly overworked in game."
Musketeer states, "Relatable."
Soulless says, "Sad RP can be the best RP."
Cleo claims, "Tons of fun. Very fulfilling and enjoyable. Big emotions."
Soulless states, "When you've got the spoons for it."
Highroller claims, "My character is evolving beyond my control or planning. I.E: training wheels off, leggo"
JumpsTart claims, "I've been MIA. Sorry guys. Should be getting a med refill today that will get my brain back into tip-top Rexel order soon."
Karrin asks, "Does anyone have any topics for this week?"
Sororitas says, "I had a good week. Rather busy at times but over all a lot of fun. No topics though."
Cleo questions, "How goes the Buggy plot?"
Soulless declaims, "Rexel's uh, flavor to the grid has been missed!"
JumpsTart takes a bow.
Karrin claims to Cleo, "I'll give a lil' update on that when I do my part."
Soulless exclaims, "My favorite reminder; Recommends!"
Karrin chuckles.
Soulless claims, "I love writing them, honestly.
Karrin states, "Alright, I do have a topic that came to me by tell. We'll get moving otherwise with staff updates."
Bigman unloads his recommends reminder from the magazine
Karrin nods at Harrow.
Karrin states to Harrow, "You can go first."
Harrow claims, "So, I've been doing a little more building, and received a little more training (I totally missed something that I was meant to be doing for the new builds, but it shouldn't effect any of you as players at all). Otherwise things have been very quiet on my end. Something fun is planned that I'll be a part of, but it'll be a little while before that."
Karrin claims, "Harrow is no longer cyan. She has evolved."
Musketeer states, "Very suspicious."
Soulless declaims, "Woo!"
Harrow exclaims, "Oh, and that!"
Highroller states, "[FEAR] "
JumpsTart cheers.
Soulless exclaims, "Happy uncyaning!"
Temi exclaims, "Happy establishment!"
Karrin says to Temi, "Your turn."
Temi states, "Not a huge lot, but I did handle some of the non-buggy plots and up-to-date on those currently, I think"
Temi states, "And went through some of the typos, especially getting people their milestone stuff"
Temi says, "Remember to go respond on those if you haven't since Karrin's bumps"
Temi nods at Karrin.
Karrin says, "I spent my time this week working on something with/for the Troubadours that should come up around Magebane, I'll let them do the advertising and IC teasing for it. I'll pick back up on the header this week, as that is settled (mostly). I still need to make the IC parts."
Calivion claims, "I am going to need to scale back my Tremors refrences I think"
Soulless exclaims, "I'm so looking forward to the Thing!"
Karrin claims to Calivion, "More inspiration is never negative."
Karrin states, "Need digging giant bugs that pop out of the ground. Got it."
Soulless states, ":O"
Motherof cries.
Soulless claims, "D:"
Karrin states, "ANYWAY. That's it for staff updates."
Sororitas pontificates, "That's already do that! We don't need more!"
Temi states, "Maybe never negative, but it might hurt"
Karrin chuckles.
Karrin questions to Eeel, "You had a topic?"
Highroller states, "Hear me out: Fire-ants, but they are really on fire.."
Karrin claims, "I mean, technically, mages could do that now."
Karrin states, "Not that the ants would live, but."
Cleo claims, "Oh good, even more terrifying."
Sororitas states, "Please no flaming ants in the Granary. You'll take half the city."
Musketeer states, "OKAY, but they don't need to live."
HIEROPHANT ponders.
Musketeer says, "Nobody said kamikaze ants couldn't be a thing"
Temi claims, "Technically we might already have fire ants, given the pyre"
Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.
Musketeer claims, "Ant bombs. That is all."
Soulless states, "No exploding ants, please. D:"
Mirielle says, "Better exploding ants, than exploding spiders."
Karrin says, "Either way, bug guts."
Soulless states, "It's the Phase Spiders you need to worry about."
Temi claims, "We can always use more bug guts."
Meiari wonders, "Bug gut sausage?"
Eeel says, "Yeah! So, there were two things actually. First, just a reminder that the Physicians is always open for students...... (We really need them). And another reminder that, despite the fact I have plenty of work right now, I want to remind people that the INFLICT and INFECT commands exist if you ever want to RP swooning and wasting away. It can be fun to. Be cautious with what you INFECT yourself with though, because you know, the plague can kill you and the pox could put your reputation into question. You can also RP diseases that aren't codedly represented if you ever want to, and we'll do our best at the Physicians to RP around healing you and helping you recover."
Sororitas says, "Sadly the bugs don't have intestines I can harvest or I'd already be selling them Meiari"
Motherof claims, "I had no idea there was an infect command. How charming.
Cleo queries, "You can just ensickify yourself? That's cool"
Temi nods in agreement.
Karrin states, "Eh, don't go too wild on RPing things that don't exist. We've had people literally give themselves a deadly disease in the past, and then criticize the physicians for not curing what literally is incurable because it's in their head."
Musketeer claims, "We have a cure for it though."
Motherof wonders, "Do we have leprosy?"
Musketeer states, "The pyre."
Eeel declaims, "That's fair to say, yeah. Maybe consult with staff if you intend to RP a disease that doesn't exist, actually. But still, INFECT!!"
PositronicJune queries, "Eh? What disease?"
Karrin says, "Like, a cold is one thing. But like. Yeah. Let's not go hog wild."
Calivion claims, "I had a character pyred for being cray cray"
Calivion states, "The pyre cleans all"
PositronicJune claims, "What about gout and consumption"
Highroller claims, "I'd say if you RP a thing that doesn't exist, to also accept that whatever cure the Physicians make up is also the right cure. Goes two ways."
Musketeer says, "Something something, my handwavium for your handwavium."
Karrin claims to Highroller, "This person, goodness I can't even remember who they were - was trying to make up a way to die in prison so they couldn't be actually punished."
Karrin states, "Since liquidating out of prison is not allowed."
Karrin states, "So, give and take wasn't a thing.
Musketeer exclaims, "Sure it was. You give them a door, and take a corpse for the pyre!
Cleo pontificates, "'Reeve Nerunia, he was right here last night. He just turned to slop in the cell!'"
Eeel says, "INFECT wisely, of course, but it's there, and it might be interesting to see some of the less represented diseases. We basically only see Colic and occasionally Rattle Cough."
Karrin says, "Basically a, "You won't let me liquidate, so I'll make up this disease that kills me instead." Which... isn't a different concept. Still the same thing. But, yeah. This was like 8 or more years ago. So."
Musketeer says, "Slop in the cell. That's a sentence."
Highroller states, "That's just asking to liquidate but with extra steps. But yes. If the goal is to give the Physicians game, I'd say you also accept that they ICly know their stuff."
Sparkles says, "Having been in at least one of those lines of incurable disease RP, giving other players a task that will take their time, effort, money or other resources when you have no intention of something moving forward can be a real morale kick in the pants."
Karrin nods at Highroller.
Bigman states, "It puts the lotion on it's skin... or else it gets the slop again."
Calivion claims, "I'm going to give myself a highly communicable disease and infect everyone at the next pyring or ball."
Temi says, "I already drove Gwyn crazy with a disease that had a cure intended"
Temi grins.
Karrin says to Calivion, "You WOULD."
Eeel says, "Oh god, Capuan Sickness flashbacks."
Motherof claims, "I wish I had known I could myself the pox back when I played one of the Dolphin girls."
Eeel trails off, "I got there in the end..."
Soulless claims, "Lmao."
Cleo claims, "The .... I'm not even sure I want to know."
Karrin says to Motherof, "Proves that no matter how long you play, ther's more to learn."
Temi says, "You may not have been able to then."
Temi says, "It was something that was added later"
Musketeer claims, "Honestly I don't think I'd jive with the 'I have this mega disease' line of play again. Didn't really jive last time."
Karrin queries, "Ok, so. Any other topics before I send you back to grid to put your IC costumes back on?"
Highroller questions, "I mean, there's like a ton of options on the list, so uh... if you really want to be difficult, can you ask staff to infect you with multiple? "
Soulless declaims, "Nananana, batman!"
Cleo raises a hand.
Calivion claims, "To Karrin, "And that is why you love me.""
Highroller claims, "(Since infect has a 30 day cooldown)"
Karrin wonders to Calivion, "How'd you figure it out?"
WeedEater claims, "Tubori Ebola, here I come."
Soulless queries, "Cleo has a topic?"
Cleo claims, "I do, but I am being patient. :p"
Karrin says, "Oh? I missed that."
Karrin claims to Cleo, "Go ahead."
Cleo states, "Well, similar to what /eels hinted at about the Physicians needing more students, I wonder, would it be unreasonable to create (perhaps minor) OOC incentives for joining certain guilds? QP maybe? Rexel ran an IC incentive thing for Reeves, but I just feel bad at the lack of Physicians, though at the same time I know OOC, new players actually have to consciously choose "I wish to be a healer"."
Calivion trails off, "I thought WeedEater said Turbo Ebola for a minute and I was all... Pikachu face"
Soulless claims, "Some guilds pay wages."
Soulless claims, "Some don't."
Eeel says, "The Physicians pays some of the largest wages of the guilds I think"
Karrin claims, "Back before the turn of the year, the physicians were hopping. There's a natural ebb and flow. And, the Physicians DO have some perks - their minigame is not anywhere else on grid. Physicians also have some drawbacks. You have to LEARN shit. Like, actually learn it (or become really good at saving things and referencing) - otherwise you won't be able to diagnose diseases."
Karrin says, "So, the Physicians are actually one of the most knowledge-heavy parts of the game. Because wrong diagnoses can kill characters, in some cases."
Eeel says, "What Karrin said"
Cleo claims, "Yeah, yeah I get all that. I guess I've just had it in my head that 'man, Gwyn could use some help.' But I know it's not that easy. "
Soulless says, "You could always make a physician alt."
Temi declaims, "We agree! It would be nice to have all the guilds hopping"
PositronicJune is idle.
JumpsTart claims, "Gotta write those game reviews, people. Tell your friends this is the cool place to be."
Musketeer claims, "And there's a lot of folk what can't exactly go "I suddenly want to be a doctor.'"
Karrin says, "Yeah. Even like... it can't be "Gwyn can just teach people medicine", because the diagnose command is guild specific. Now, doesn't make it impossible to diagnose. People just have to ask a LOT of questions to get the information out. And, still might be wrong."
Highroller states, "I think it's a matter of player pop as well, as in we do not have the players to fully fill each guild to the brim. And not every character is suited to be a physician heh. But I think it helps that the current plot means both the martial guilds and the physicians have strong play options"
WeedEater claims, "Honestly I think one of the bigger hurdles is coming back as an experienced Physician at just Orderly where you can't treat people by yourself."
Temi trails off to Karrin, "What do we think of the OOC reward incentives for certain guilds? Hrm..."
Karrin states to WeedEater, "Apping in to journeyman level roles is open for every guild except the Reeves, currentlly."
Soulless states, "And Physicians, I believe."
Motherof says, "Quick reminder that incompetent physicians, reeves, priests, merchants etc are viable character concepts too.
Bigman queries, "What about if you join the guild with the lowest pop, there's a QP reward? Maybe even it tells you ar chargen? "
Eeel states, "Jman for Physicians is Orderly, according to how things are mapped to other guilds, but I feel like it should probably be Nursia that you can app in as."
Sparkles states, "There are certain positions that are kind of a calling OOC as much as IC. Inviting friends or bumping our votes etc can also help. I don't (neccessarily) know that encouraging folks to alt more might solve some problems but cause others."
Karrin states to Soulless, "Nope, app in is open. Apps are where staff review it. Now, granted, if someone has never PLAYED a physician, I highly recommend not trying to come in at a role where you would "know" things, but you don't actually know them as a player. It would turn out quite badly."
Soulless claims, "Ah, I see."
Musketeer states, "It might not be a terrible idea for guilds that are especially struggling"
Karrin states to Temi, "I think we'd have to be very careful that it's something they can use ONLY on that character. Because if they do it and it doesn't work out, it sholdn't be transferrable to their other characters."
Karrin nods in agreement with Sparkles.
Karrin says, "I think heavy combat roles are ALSO that way."
Kareem states, "Maybe bonus xp for just that character then? It would also help with the early grind."
Musketeer claims, "That was more or less what I was thinking."
Temi says, "Could apply at establishment, to get it to stick. Though yeah, if people just joined for the reward (QP or whatnot) and then switched back to their 'main' it doesn't really help"
Karrin states to WeedEater, "And once not being a physician for a while, reviewing your brain isn't a bad idea. Things may not change much, but things leak out the ears when not in practice. But, yeah, app ins ARE possible for physicians for higher roles. Just, not Physician-Physicians."
PositronicJune is no longer idle.
PositronicJune has returned from AFK.
Calivion trails off, "Reeves, Knights, Inquisitors, all roles that are... callings I think"
Karrin says to Eeel, "I think nursia is fair."
Sororitas says, "Physicians are, to my knowledge, the only guild where you aren't considered a full trained member after your second promotion. So they don't really map well yeah so perhaps Nursia should be considered the Journeyman role."
PositronicJune states, "I knew it, I should have been a plastic chirurgeon."
Temi says, "Bonus xp is already tied to character, yeah"
Karrin states, "With app ins, you can ask for a single perk. I also put up some perk things on the discord ages ago for QP boosts to app ins. We just didn't move it much of anywhere. It's over in ideas, if anyone wants to glance."
Calivion has lost link.
Calivion has reconnected.
HIEROPHANT is idle.
HIEROPHANT is no longer idle.
HIEROPHANT has returned from AFK.
WeedEater states, "Yeah Nursia I think would be fine, you can treat without supervision. Which is the big thing, really."
Karrin says, "It's a thread called Role Purchases and QP, but my brain applied it to app ins, mostlyu."
Karrin claims to WeedEater, "Apping in at that doesn't mean that the GLs or people above will just agree with your knowledge, though. Any transfers in, like any job, are likely up for review. So, keep that in mind, too."
Karrin says, "Even apping in, it's up to the GLs as to whether you KEEP that position. So, behave."
WeedEater states, "I still have all my notes as a physician so. Yeah, of course."
HIEROPHANT claims, "It'd also mean more people who can teach new students, which would probably handle timezone/scheduling/learning burdens for our poor Prime having to try to do all of it themselves"
Temi claims, "Though they should treat you as having gained that position ICly"
Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.
WeedEater claims, "Obviously you'd want to play having gotten the position from somewhere else, and whether you keep it if you act like a weirdo is open to your higher ups, naturally. where you begin is just where you begin."
Karrin states, "With alts, I'll also gently say... don't stretch yourself out too far. Remember that certain roles (GLs, nobles, mages, and anyone in guilds) has a minimum time expectancy. If you are stretching yourself between 5 characters all with time expectancy requirements because all have special roles or are in guilds, it can become very overwhelming."
Karrin claims, "So, say, if you already have 2 or 3, and you're barely making the time? A 4th probably won't help things."
Temi nods.
Highroller claims, "Crossover management is also complex."
Karrin states, "It can get very complex, yes."
Temi says, "I've had three before, but found I did much better with just 2"
Karrin states, "I can juggle quite a few, but if I decide to do that, I make sure most of them don't have those kind of on grid time requirements so I can cycle through."
Cleo states, "I do sort of wish certain things were teachable, even as a guildskill. Like, i.e. if Gwyn could teach the TREAT skill up to X rank with a coded blocker in place for people not Physicians, so it teaches them to like, heal minor wounds."
Cleo claims, "But I could also see where that could get out of hand elsewhere."
Sparkles states, "That's possible now, non-Physicians get the Treat command but not the Diagnose command."
Karrin says to Cleo, "... he can."
Highroller claims, "You can teach guild skills out of guild. The other person just can't pool without being taught out of guild."
Temi states, "We do have a teach command, which does bypass other limits."
Karrin nods.
Highroller states, "It's just ICly not allowed."
PositronicJune says, "Once you have the first level, actually, Highroller, you can pool to 36"
Soulless claims, "Well, but teaching medicine to non-Physicians does also kind of give away some of the RP which is meant for Physicians."
Highroller states, "OH! Good to know."
Karrin states, "Breaking IC rules =/= breaking OOC policy."
PositronicJune claims, "Physicians do get cranky if non-physicians practice medicine"
Cleo states, "Ah, I see. So it's CODEDLY possible but not ICly."
Soulless pontificates, "Yeah, that too. Crime!"
Karrin claims, "You can also purchase two guildskills in chargen. Nothing ever said they had to be from your chosen guild."
Karrin says to Cleo, "I didn't say that, either."
Temi says, "The rules are up to the guilds to determine what they're willing to share. A physician guildleader could certainly give permission to train up medics in other guilds, but they would have to consider the control they are giving up too"
Karrin says, "But yes, alts can add fun and new avenues of RP. But they also add complication in IC/OOC cross, keeping your characters in different storylines, etc. So, alts encouraged, but at your own risk and with full knowledge of what you're doing."
Karrin says, "Also, coming in as an expert in something you are not OOCly an expert in is a risk, and might have IC repercussions. So, keep that in mind, as well, if choosing to use the journeyman app in."
Karrin says to Temi, "We can talk about OOC perks maybe with the guildleaders."
Temi nods.
Karrin asks, "Ok! Any other topics?"
Temi claims, "Some extra bonus xp for certain guilds could maybe be sensible. We should weigh the options"
Karrin nods.
Bigman wonders, "OH! Maybe apping into a guild that's struggling for members raises your rec level since you're choosing to fill a niche in the game? "
Karrin states, "And we'd have to make it apply once hitting a certain number of RP hours, rather than just becoming established - since established can be purchased."
Karrin states to Bigman, "That would be used on other characters, and could be cashed in by liquidating. So. probably not."
Temi states, "Not really used on other characters until they're dead, though"
Sparkles says, "I just have a little PSA if there's a last second."
Bigman claims, "Hm. Fair I guess. "
Karrin claims to Sparkles, "Sure."
WeedEater claims, "Honestly, I'm just glad you are open to letting people app in as Nursia. XP bonus or not."
Sparkles states, "I haven't bothered Karrin with my latest ASCII art monstrosity yet, but there will be a little light social event next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday in the afternoon server time, so keep an eye out if you like that kind of thing."
Karrin states, "The torture. (Just send it to me in discord, and I feel better immediately.)"
Karrin asks, "Do we have a date/time for the troubadours event? Or thoughts on it?"
Kareem says, "There is also a Reeve Event on Saturday as announced already."
Soulless says, "Well. I might chat after the OOC meeting."
Soulless claims, "Because I did have an idea for ANOTHER thing."
Motherof states, "We like things."
Soulless questions, "And I'd like to do both if possible?"
Bigman claims, "Shoutout for the amount of events being hosted, looking forward to them <3"
Temi says, "I also need to schedule a court"
Sparkles says, "I'll send out a thing today to coordinate what time works for the other Bards. "
Sparkles nods.
Karrin states, "Please include Harrow and I. We're both also needed."
Sparkles nods.
Karrin claims, "You technically can't run it without us. We have the keys."
Sparkles claims, "Of course, of course."
Karrin states, "Next time, maybe."
Karrin winks.
Karrin questions, "Ok, anything else?"
Soulless claims, "Nope! Not from me.
Karrin exclaims, "Ok, everyone have a wonderful week, and we'll see you again here next week!"
