Karrin claims, "Let's get this going, then."

Karrin states, "OOC Chat Rules:

- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the
knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that
others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one
player. If there are concerns about a specific player, please address that with staff privately.
- This is not the correct forum for bringing up policy violations. If there are instances of
perceived policy violations, please address that with staff privately."

Karrin questions, "So! How has RP been this week?"

Scarry screams incoherently.

Rosamund declaims, "It's been pretty good! Lots of fun stuff"

Meiari states, "Rp was good for me! Very busy with both scenes and IC chores. Met some new to me
people. Learned some things. It's been good. Yule Market is open, go check it out."

Sororitas states, "Was a good week for me. Lots of fun little scenes. Nothing crazy but all nice."

FuneralLace declares, "I've been having a lot of fun! But I've mostly been keeping to myself"

Hibiscus pontificates, "It was great! Love the market"

MaskedHarlequin claims, "Very very busy and exciting and varied. I really can't complain other than
the fact I wish I never got tired."

Scarry says, "It was busy for me but I managed to actually do some personal development which has
been rare the last two weeks, so I am very happy."

Pippa pontificates, "Well, there was lots of falling, but fun!"

Scarry claims, "Also I had the absolute most adorable fucking fishing scene."

Eeel trails off, "Honestly, RP has been... stressful"

Scarry says, "I should actually fucking recommend it."

Karrin queries, "What makes a fishing scene adorable?"

Karrin says to Eeel, "Oh, sorry to hear about that. If we can help in any way, let me know."

BuzzOven says, "It's been fun, I got a lot of IC work done. Opposed to IRL work, which is never
fun."

Scarry states, "It was two mummed up and masked dudes. I sat down with them, they waved and we just
kind silently fished and excitedly thumbs upped whenever we pulled up a sterlet."

Eeel says, "I might send you a tell about some stuff later Karrin"

Karrin states to Eeel, "Got it."

KindledFlames says, "I have had a blast this week lots of good scenes"

Karrin questions, "Alright, any topics for this week?"

Karrin has transferred Capitalism. [OOC]

Temi gives a plush pillow secured over the bottom by a wide cloth sash to Capitalism.

Karrin states to Capitalism, "Just asked for topics for this week."

Scarry claims, "Not really a topic but I wanted to say thanks to Temi and Karrin for taking up my
idea so super quick."

MaskedHarlequin states, "I got one sorta maybe kinda."

Karrin nods at MaskedHarlequin.

Scarry claims, "And I absolutely adore this activity. great stuff. I legit love eating shit and
slipping so much on the damn ice."

Karrin states, "All the stuff for this week goes to (mostly) Temi and Lochan. I think Dorothy and I
helped here and there with ideas and/or annoyances, but those two really did the most."

Karrin says, "Remember that you can recommend staff, too. If you love what they're doing."

Dorothy states, "I just sat around eating ice and played cheerleader."

Temi says, "Glad folks are enjoying it. Hoping it's the right balance of noticeable and avoidable."

Karrin states, "Probably except for the random slipping, and NPCs falling on their patoots and
getting stuck, mostly avoidable if someone just doesn't want to engage."

FuneralLace says, "The need the butt pillows"

FuneralLace says, "*they"

Karrin says, "But very prevalent for those who do."

Hibiscus stops using a plush pillow secured over the bottom by a wide cloth sash.

Scarry states, "I think we have like 4-5 people wanting outfits made out of fish at this point."

Temi grins.

Karrin states, "Ok, if any other topics come up, let me know. I'll move on to staff updates."

Karrin questions to Dorothy, "You first?"

Scarry says, "Which I am all for, I fish mainly for the merchants so they can do all the pretty
fishie clothes people want :3"

Dorothy says, "I did the tackling of more build quests! Including finding a really odd one. Thank
you for your patience, buyer, as we learned the secrets together. And thank you Karrin for helping
us put the pieces together. It was a good time. I have some fun things on my plate for this upcoming
week - approvals that I now get to run around and do, so look forward to more goodness in the
upcoming week. (Lore. It's mostly a few lore recommends. Don't forget to submit lore if you are part
of or witness cool things)."

Temi says, "Note that it's not a super strong material so it will need to be over a stronger cloth,
but get your fishing in over the next week or so, and we'll determine how long to leave this going
while the novelty wears off"

MaskedHarlequin says, "I am looking forward to embroidering some pretty dresses with little splashes
of scales to feel like a mermaid."

Scarry claims, "I figured it would need like a wool or cotton backing and is mostly applied for
looks / waterproofing."

Karrin states, "Yeah. We'll definitely at least leave it up for a couple weeks. We also know stuff
gets old, though. But with Thanksgiving and other holidays coming up, thoguth it'd be nice to have
something for people to do if activity wans."

Scarry says, "?? Thanksgiving was two months ago."

Karrin says to Scarry, "American Thanksgiving. That was Canadian."

Karrin states, "Though, isn't theirs in October? Anyway."

Karrin muses to Temi, "You're up?"

Temi says, "Yes, so, I think it's been obvious what I've been up to.. freezing the river."

Scarry states, "Didn't notice."

Temi states, "But other than that, trying to get through some of the typos and request stuff,
particularly crafting related."

Karrin says, "She is Frost."

MaskedHarlequin trails off, "Yeah my ass definitely doesn't hurt from the ice..."

Scarry claims, "Oh yeah speaking of those."

Scarry asks, "I guess we can remove the bulk recipes now, can't we?"

Karrin claims, "Haha, yeah."

Karrin states, "Lochan took care of that one pretty quick."

Temi claims, "I don't know that we'll remove them, but we're definitely not adding any more"

Scarry claims, "I know they were a bit of a sore point because they make the craft lists so
loooong."

Temi says, "We may remove them at some point, though, yeah."

Karrin states, "If you're wondering what Lochan's been up to, it's mostly posted in *help news*."

MaskedHarlequin says, "I think having the bulk crafts, especially some of the cooking ones is still
nice."

Karrin has transferred Ezekiel. [OOC]

Karrin has transferred Tatty. [OOC]

Scarry states, "Btw, if you really want to see your MV just vanish in front of you - bulk craft the
bulk craft recipes."

Karrin claims, "Yeah, I don't see us removing any of the existing ones, just not really adding
more."

Temi claims, "For those that haven't noticed, yes, there's the ability to do bulk crafts by just
e.g. <craft> #*<craft num>"

Temi gives a plush pillow secured over the bottom by a wide cloth sash to Ezekiel.

Temi gives a plush pillow secured over the bottom by a wide cloth sash to Tatty.

Hibiscus declares, "Oh my lord, praise Jesus and all of you staff, thank you!"

Meiari claims, "It's been EXTREMELY helpful."

Scarry says, "Yeah it is really revolutionary. "

Scarry says, "...And was made after I crafted 150 rations"

MaskedHarlequin says, "It is the best thing since sliced bread."

Scarry claims, ":')"

Temi states, "That was one of awesome things Lochan has done for us."

Scarry claims, "WOAH"

Scarry queries, "Hold on the cup bug was fixed??"

Karrin claims, "As for me, I've been getting things settled with the Master Physician role, and
getting those helpfiles updated. I still have the last one to do, but hey. All good there, I have
the info and will take care of that. And yes, cup bug is fixed."

Scarry trails off, "Praise be the spaghetti monster... Ramen..."

Temi says, "Yes, cups should be fixed now just the other day now"

FuneralLace wonders, "What's the cup bug, for those of us who are new?"

Karrin claims, "Help news displays to you as you log in, but can also be accessed at any time to see
what Lochan's been up to."

Karrin states, "It was just a bug - cups weren't working."

Temi says, "We have cups that can be used to serve e.g. kettles of tea into individual tea cups"

Scarry says, "At some point cups were broken and you couldn't pour stuff for people anymore. Which
made some crafters sad, since they put a lot of effort into those."

FuneralLace declaims, "Ahh, gotcha!"

Karrin says, "Along with Temi freezing the world, I went around and put down snowbanks yesterday.
So, feel free to pelt each other with snowballs to your heart's content."

Scarry states, "You get 10 silver from staff for every snowball hitting Kah so hard they fall over."

Scarry states, "This is real, I promise"

Temi trails off, "I -think- I also got the restocks on the snowbanks reset correctly... so they
might reset at this time again next year"

Temi says, "And not in August"

Karrin states to Temi, "That would be good. I don't know if I put them in all the right places,
though."

Temi states to Karrin, "I think they should all be in the right places now too"

Karrin nods.

Dorothy states, "I enjoyed eating all the frost banks in August. It was refreshing."

Karrin questions, "No brain freeze?"

Dorothy states, "That would require having a brain :D"

Karrin says, "Point."

Karrin questions, "Ok. I think that's it for staff. Any last things staff?"

Dorothy shakes head.

Scarry states, "..."

Karrin chuckles.

Karrin wiggles.

Scarry claims, "Mmm."

Tatty giggles.

Lochan says come and see, and you saw, and behold - Spaghetti [OOC]

Scarry claims, "You know, now I have the idea for a dessert dish involving snow."

Karrin claims, "I'm trying to lure a Lochan. Everyone spread parmes... oh, there he is."

Karrin states to Lochan, "Your update."

Lochan states, "I fought with the code. The code won. "

Freeman says, "F"

Sororitas states, "Same brother."

Scarry states, "Lochan, thank you so much for fixing the cup bug!! And I love the activity and the
fish list."

Karrin asks of Lochan, "Any last words?"

Lochan claims, "I'm working on cleaning up a lot of really bad tech debt so we can more easily add
new cool stuff. A lot of bug fixing has been happening and you've all seen knockons like naked
sweepers. This week my focus is to finish cleaning up a lot of tables, flags, and sadness. "

Lochan says, "Done"

Karrin chuckles.

Karrin states, "Too bad we clothed the naked sweepers before the freeze."

Scarry claims, "You know, bugs happening because we are getting tech debt fixes is more than
understandable."

Karrin questions to MaskedHarlequin, "You had a topic, I think?"

Dorothy nods, "It also means a step in the right direction."

Temi states, "I think the streetsweepers appreciate that"

MaskedHarlequin claims, "I think this came up a while ago, but is it possible to get some sort of
ice statue craft? The ice from fishing in the river is fun and silly but the idea of making an ice
sculpture for yule is really cool but I also get if the event is too short it's not worth it to
add."

Karrin says to Temi, "Yours."

Temi finishes abruptly, "I think it's probably not worth it - happy for you to just retool for now
to play with it"

Karrin says, "Fairly, it is an event that will be recurring. Not EVERY IC year, but we'll plop it
down occasionally. But yeah, you could retool for now and have fun."

MaskedHarlequin pontificates, "I think the ice from the river decays really fast so it's probably
going in my cold room as a funny conversation piece. Alright!"

Scarry wonders, "Use a stone statue craft and embellish it with the ice?"

Temi says, "Yeah, keeping ice in Lithmore is probably going to be a hard thing"

HIEROPHANT says, "There might be this sort of thing added later if/when there's more ways to acquire
ice than this event"

Temi nods in agreement with HIEROPHANT.

Karrin nods in agreement with HIEROPHANT.

HIEROPHANT claims, "Perhaps with a difficult forage atop the snowcapped mountain or perhaps by way
of eebill witchcrafts"

MaskedHarlequin declares, "Fair!"

Scarry muses, "Witches? we have those?"

Karrin says to Scarry, "Nah, just folklore."

Dorothy gasps.

Karrin questions, "Any other topics?"

Sororitas shakes her head.

Scarry says, "Oh, I might have something, but it is just personal preference-ish."

MaskedHarlequin begins playing a recreation of the jeopardy music on a hammered dulcimer.

Karrin claims, "For those GLs who we haven't gotten the special roles set up yet, just know that
there's no rush. We can do some brainstorming. The two I did were roles already established, we just
solidified the path."

Karrin claims to Scarry, "Go ahead, we have tiem."

Scarry states, "Okay! Hi there, it is I, Scarry.

Since we have more and more new people, we also have more and more big scenes. This can be very
overwhelming for cyans because let's face it - most folk just short-circuit when there is more than
four people in a single room. Me included! This is not an appeal to change fundamentally how you
should socialize, but it might be a good idea to grab newbies and move them either into jmote
locations so they can focus and get acclimated or into other room.

I will personally try and practice what I preach, but I think this will smooth the onboarding a
little."

Scarry claims, "Large public scenes are just a lot."

Karrin says, "We do have to try to make sure they don't feel left out if we do that. Don't have
everyone ELSE in a jmote scene, and the newbie alone not seeing anything done."

Pippa trails off, "A reminder that when you separate off into jmote groups not to leave the whole
big room silent to people who wander in, yeah..."

Karrin nods.

Karrin says, "You can create a good balance around that, though. I've seen it done."

Scarry claims, "Yeah absolutely. I mean more jmote drag them IN rather than grouping up in big
jmotes haha."

Scarry states, "Big jmote, sponsor of the lithmorran carriage races."

Karrin states, "Lochan did fix the jmote so it says it's quiet conversation, rather than just a
generic gesture, which was confusing."

Meiari says, "That change has helped a lot imo"

Scarry states, "I had just like three separate cyans over the last two weeks confess to me that it
intimidates them."

Karrin claims, "Yeah, the way it was before caused some very awkward confusion."

Scarry says, "So I figured I bring it up. Sorry."

Karrin states, "Big scenes can be intimidating. But, we also have enough people around and on where
most of the time that you can choose to go to a smaller one. It can still eventually turn big,
though."

Freeman claims, "In general, when the scene gets larger, moving to tables/jmote locations helps. My
poor brain just shuts down if it's 12 people all emoting x.x"

Karrin claims to Scarry, "No apologies needed. It's a good reminder."

Karrin states, "Remember that tables or bars (if they're able to be sat at), etc, are natural join
spots. But if there aren't any, you can create join spots."

Karrin says, "Ok! Any other topics? I can send you back."

FuneralLace stops using a plush pillow secured over the bottom by a wide cloth sash.

Frederick states, "I had something of a question, if you'd hear me out. Not sure if it's that big a
deal, but it's something."

Karrin wonders to Frederick, "Sure, what's up?"

Scarry states, "Now is the right time for it."

Karrin has transferred Sparkles. [OOC]

Temi gives a plush pillow secured over the bottom by a wide cloth sash to Sparkles.

Frederick says, "I'm very, very new here. Roleplaying around has been nice, and people are cool, but
the game is opaque, and getting involved in anything seems very tough. Even joining an organisation -
and the newbie-ish helpfiles point you to this - involves some OOC contrivances and systems it
doesn't speak of much. Is this intentional? Am I missing something? I'd love to stick around, and
I'd like to know if things are Just Like That or I missed something clear."

Scarry says, "Ahhh, you mean how you need to have a character file for even seeking? I guess it is
just to ensure you actually thought about what character you want to play."

Scarry claims, "It's a bit cumbersome, but hooks also help with "rp quests", which is a system where
the game randomly gives you a person to RP with, and the hooks are like reasoning as to why they
might want to approach your character to help spark RP and new connections."

BuzzOven claims, "Jmote and plots are definitely two of the most newbie-difficult things I'm
discovering very quickly. Trying to help out where I can on that."

Frederick exclaims, "Yeah, but that's actually handy; it tells you what to do and it does, in fact,
put you out there. They're a good thing!"

Karrin claims, "Ok, so... we have a very expansive helpfile system. And unless the helpfiles are
blatantly OOC information (help twink, help ooc, etc), they are considered IC knowledge."

Tatty claims, "SOme of the RP quests and hooks are super hard to find though. "

Tatty says, "I'd love to complete one though! It's a goal."

Karrin states to Tatty, "What do you mean... find? If it's a QP quest for a player, you reach out
ICly and/or OOClyl to see if they're available. If it's a pvent, you just... mention it in your RP."

Lochan floats off, as it were, flying spaghetti monster. [OOC]

Temi says, "Joining a guild isn't supposed to be too hard and we do try to provide good information
on what's necessary in the helfpiles, so if there's not information on that, we can definitely
clarify it further."

Scarry asks, "Do you have some specific problem you might point out so I understand a bit better
what you mean?"

Karrin claims, "I think the biggest hindrance to most of our new players is that we are very, very
freeform. Whereas other games will tell you where to go and what to do and where to be and things to
do, there's an essence of self-motivation here, where you have to figure out a goal, and do what you
need to in order to complete it. And, that always, -always- involves other people/players."

Temi claims, "If it's IC relationships with other people, it can be easier or harder depending on
who it is, and we can't necessarily say specific intentions there, yeah"

Rosamund states, "Actually, I do have a question regarding the RP Quest thing, after this"

Tatty states, "To karrin Oh. I didn't think of it that way. I've been given QP quests for players
I've never ever seen or met."

Karrin states to Rosamund, "You can throw it in with this convo."

Tatty facepalms.

Tatty says, "I can't..direct braint oday."

Tatty claims, "I guess I never thought of OOC poking them."

Scarry claims, "Oh yeah, Tatty, that's just sometimes how it goes. Some of those never to be found
players are kind enough to quickly log out and back in so it resets for you if you send them a
tell."

Frederick says, "Sure. It took over a week for me to join a guild, despite regularly being online,
because the MUD has one (1) person who can get me in. It was strange both ICly and OOCly. ICly - it
registered as the equivalent of the surgeon general personally interviewing every person who wants
to become a nurse, say. OOCly, I don't think myself and the guild leader quite appreciated how
deeply, deeply important it was that everything hinges on one guy being around to let people in. And
that's after a week of trying! If time and timezones and circumstances had been worse, it'd be much
longer still."

Karrin says to Tatty, "Yeah, the whole point is to use their hooks (if you want to/can) and reach
out to them for RP. You can send a messenger. You can send a tell and go, "Hey, got a QP quest for
you. Up for play?" It's a nudge to get out and meet people and do something - you get them when
you're out of RP."

Karrin claims to Frederick, "Fairly, you could have skipped all of that by purchasing in as an
acolyte. XD"

Karrin claims, "The seek feature is optional."

Frederick states, "Okay."

BuzzOven claims, "Yeah there's roles to just buy into to pass that up for that reason."

[OOC] Spaghetti Demon counts 32 meatballs online.

Sparkles questions, "Would highlighting that more in chargen help maybe?"

Karrin states to Frederick, "Sorry if that wasn't clear."

Scarry claims, "Ahhh. Yeah, this is by design though. The guilds are like medieval guilds, in the
sense they are deeply interpersonal. Buying in is an option for that, but seeking is really just
going the full rp route."

Karrin nods.

Rosamund questions, "Well I've done the RP Quests a few times. I don't do them often because life,
but sometimes it seems like it takes a -long- time for them to actually register as successful. So I
guess my question is what exactly is the quantifier for completing them? "

Karrin queries to Frederick, "Did you run into other guildies and they engaged you even if you
weren't in yet?"

Frederick says, "I came in with the impression that seeking out people ICly as in just-about other
MUD is expected and handy and not something to be avoided or odd about at all."

Scarry claims, "RPXP gained, Rosamund."

Frederick muses, "I guess that might be on me?"

Scarry states, "I think it's like 300 or so."

Rosamund states, "Like I was once actively doing a scene with a person for a quest and I didn't get
it. So it seemed weird. "

Rosamund states, "Like the timer ran out"

Freeman states, "I do think it's a bit of a problem, if one can not line up their playtimes with the
GL, it becomes impossible to really progress in a guild."

Karrin states to Rosamund, "A lot can factor in there."

BuzzOven says, "That I've discovered to be true as well, Rosa. Multiple times. Rarely do I get them
finished."

Scarry claims, "Yeah, that can happen. It's somewhat generous but it can run out."

Scarry states, "Also you have to be unmasked and uncloaked and they have to for it to register."

Karrin says to Frederick, "I'd be more concerned if you were just seeking and lost and no one was
talking to you at all. But, I thought I saw you in scenes with other guildies during the week - at
least, in the same room with them."

Scarry says, "This is an important part."

Karrin says to Rosamund, "Being in a public room, thinks, hemotes, all of that will boost your RPXP
and make it gain faster."

Frederick states, "Yeah, and those scenes just left me a bit confused. Several times I got the whole
'errrrr talk to the grand inquisitor,' which I tried and very eventually did. But it does also
involve the local bishop somehow not being able to dole out the lowest of the low ranks to people
who show up."

Karrin says, "And responding in a timely manner. If play is going particularly slow, your RPXP gain
is also low."

Karrin claims to Frederick, "Yeah, that's not a GL role."

Sororitas says, "For some guilds, say the Knights since I can speak for them, meeting a Knight and
getting an interviewed by them is often enough for me the reach out in letters if I'm not around to
start the process. It can be weird reaching out to the Earl Marshall, Grand Inquisitor, or Lord
Justiciar in mail but we all are pretty open to getting mail and either getting a scene set up or
figuring out how to role you remotely if someone vouches for you."

Frederick claims, "Yes, I learned of this today. Not a week ago, today."

Scarry claims, "There are two GLs in the guilds. Sometimes one, when the second one isn't taken."

Karrin claims, "Typing guildleaders will give a list of the GLs."

Karrin queries to Frederick, "You're settled in for now, though?"

Sororitas claims, "Same with most guilds I assume. Just didn't list them all."

Frederick says, "It sure does list that, and I did not in fact quite realise that letting people in
rests on those guys solely."

Karrin nods.

Karrin claims to Frederick, "Mostly checking and making sure all is set now? We do have purchasing
in to avoid this issue - because even our GLs do have times they can't be in, or sometimes schedules
just don't align."

Scarry claims, "I feel this pain deeply."

Frederick claims, "Sure. All set for now, yes."

Karrin nods.

Temi claims, "This is also part of why we want there to be more than one GL for every guild, even
when there's an active GL doing a good job for a guild"

Karrin says to Frederick, "Your particular GL tends to delegate, so you'll have someone else as your
key contact now, is my guess. That's how he usually handles it."

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

Karrin states, "The Order is growing, some people can't take GL positions for several reasons. But,
with the growth, maybe someone will be able to take that 2nd GL position."

BuzzOven questions, "You're still a cyan though...he should still be able to buy it in chargen,
right?"

Karrin claims, "He's in."

Freeman wonders, "Is remote roling an option that all GLs have? As in would it be possible to
achieve that contact through mail?"

BuzzOven says, "Oh, that's good."

BuzzOven claims, "I saw his Order seeking thing still up earlier so I thought he was still looking
to get in."

Sororitas states, "Yes you can role people you are not in a room with. Granted whether or not a GL
will is up to them."

Scarry claims, "Forces Valora to be my secretary orderly remotely."

Sororitas is protected by dual guilding restrictions.

Eeel says, "LOL yeah they don't even need to agree I don't think"

Eeel Makes every unguilded person in the city a student physician. And you BETTER turn up for
lessons.

Karrin states, "Hah, bad. Ok."

Karrin claims to Frederick, "Now that you're set up, definitely something we will keep in mind.
We'll take a look at chargen and make it clear there are options - seeking isn't the only one."

Karrin wonders, "Any other things before I send you back?"

Meiari says, "It does kind of depend on how hands on your GL wants to be. Some are more casual, some
are more involved. Some have paperwork that need to be completed... each guild is a little different
and each person has a different method of handling it - for future reference when joining a new
guild."

Frederick says, "I'm good, I think. Thank you :)"

Karrin states to Frederick, "I think getting in is the hard part - now you're there, there will be
people and things to pull you in, I hope."

Karrin says, "Ok! We're at time, so I'm going to banish you all back to have fun. Enjoy your butt
pillows."
