Walking through the Shadows

Well seems i have not wrote in this journal for awhile. Alot has happened that has prevented me from writing.

First off to my great surprise i have become promoted to Proconsul. Never in my wildest dreams did i imagine i would gain such a position. i mean when i joined the reeves i thought i would always be a clerk maybe even a magistrate but never a proconsul. I mean i am in the second highest position of the reeves. I essentially now command the entire reeves. Already people have begun addressing me as Proconsul Destral. Never will get use to that.

Yet with this title also comes hardships. Seems i already have gained the attention of the Brotherhood. Got a lovely little letter proclaiming that they will be targeting my wife to be. It is to say that i will be teaching her how to fight so she can protect herself, Luckily i have a spare dagger of high grade that she can have.

Well i will be saving the details of my wedding for tomorrow for i seem to be falling asleep while writing. It would be terrible if i were to spill this inkwell all over this page.

Arien hell. I had the shit beat out of me today by the bloody tenebrae. The justiciar asked me to retrieve him from his cell and he was able to use his legs to attack me. Well i was able to save my hide only after the Justiciar arrived and was able to get the beast off of me.

We were able to finnally get him to the chopping block where he was proceeded to be beheaded. The fool had the nerves to say that Dav supported all the crimes he committed and that he was closer to dav than anyone else. Bad thing is that after the beheading The proconsul proceeded to retire from her position and maybe even call off her marriage to the Justiciar. Either way it does not concern me. I am just happy i was able to bury the body although i left a nice little present for the rest of the brotherhood. Got a box and put the tenebrae’s head in it. Left it at the blind horse with a lovely little note.

Maybe they will get the hint and turn themselves in.

Well today was interesting. I had Was called upon by the Justiciar and the Lord Keeper to assist in a search of the southside for the Tenebrae. After 4 hours of searching we found nothing. Well that is not entirely true. They found a system of tunnels under the blind horse. Sadly they were stopped because some ‘construction guys said they could not go any further. Little do those two know that prior to becoming a reeve i had been under the blind horse and had purchased my armor that i was wearing from a store under there.

Well while down there i ended up having to fighting some random southsider. The fight was pretty fun even if i did end up getting injured. Luckily and to my pleasure miss wright fixed me up well.

She is such a beast. I sparred with Lei Varick today upon her suggestion. Even though i lost it was a pretty even fight. I’m sure if i had gotten in the last blow i would have won. But At least i did rough her up a bit showing her i am not someone who will back away from a fight. Maybe she will think differently next time she says something rude to me.

Well today i had to help with surgery. I was called away by Lord Orban along with miss wright to help with the surgery of Gwenith le Stepps. It was rather a gruesome ordeal. Will admit i was able to see a bit more of her than is proper but it was for medicine. I was tasked with holding her ribs apart a bit so Lord Orban could get under her ribs to stitch. Out of all the tasks mine was the least bloody which i am happy about.

From there miss wright and i proceeded to adopt to puppies that were being mistreated by Vince, The owner of Vince’s pet store. She absolutely loves the puppies named her little one sassy, While i named my little warrior Reever. They are both full of life.

In all honesty the next bit may be a bit wrong under the lord’s eyes but we are not worried for nothing happened. We had returned home when we both realized we had need a bath. So without hesitation we both decided to bathe together. We offered each other the common courtesy of not looking when we were getting undressed or were not under the water. Miss wright thought smartly for she created bubbles in the bath to stop me from looking at her through the water. I did catch a small glimpse at her chest when We had brought in the puppies to wash them for they were filthy from living in that small cage for so long.

Well i think that is enough for today. Don’t want to ruin any pure minds.

Oh today was the worst day ever, I had decided to take Beronica to the queen’s inn for a drink. Well we get there and a Arien hostage situation is going on. Apparently the Tenebrae grew some balls and decided to take Miss Potts hostage and bring himself in front of at least 4 people claiming he wanted some key from Lord Orban. I have no idea what he was speaking of but i made sure to try and block the exit but instead i received a face full of temijul. when i awoke he was already gone and i was nearly blind. Ended up talking to a broom who i thought was miss Potts for half an hour, I was rightly embarrassed by that.

Still am in fact. To add to that i had unknowingly purchased some candy that was laced with something and Beronica and i were laughing like fools for an hour.

Oh i have never been so angry. Today Rurik von Uvarov threatened the life of not only me but The Cardinal and my love, Beronica Wright. As much as i wanted to attack him i chose against it for i needed to protect the 2 ladies. The cardinal was trying to help him but the stubborn old bat refused to hear anything. She was offering to undo his excommunication yet he did not care. Well i may not have been able to do anything but the fool has a warrant out for his arrest now. I call that revenge.

On a happier note i became the new owner of the Ashewind today. He gave it to Beronica and i for our wedding gift. Must say i can not believe he gave me a 2500 silver boat for free, but i am not one to argue. Miss Wright may never use the boat for her sea sickness but oh well i know i will be using it soon.

Well today has been a horrible surprise,

I should state that i have been given a potentially dangerous task by my Justiciar. He wants me of all people to spy on Dagerian Mara’aye, probably the most dangerous man in Lithmore. Despite my fear of this man i accepted the task. It is never good news when your boss would dare not fight the man. I do not know what hope i would have if the man attacks me but at least if he does We will have reason to arrest him. I have yet to tell Beronica about this for i fear what her reaction will be.

I leave this entry with one thought, Can one man truly look into the face of possible death?

Well today was very eventful. Miss Wright and I were able to meet with the new cardinal today to discuss our banns. She and i were worried like all get out while we were talking with her. The cardinal for what it matters seemed pretty relaxed, which helped us a bit.

Seems that we had thought almost everything through except our venue for the wedding. I myself was not aware we had a choice in the matter butt miss wright was smart enough to suggest the viridian greens where we first met.

After we had completed the meeting with the cardinal we had tried to enjoy some wine when we were summoned by Miss le stepps to help out some at the hospital. While there not much happened except i had to remove a maggot from some woman’s leg which in all honesty was quite disgusting but i could not let my disgust show.

After such a exhaustive day we both decided to just retire for the night.

Well with this out of the way i think it is time for this man to find some peace in sleep

Upon suggestion of my Wife to be, Miss Beronica Wright, I have decided to start keeping a journal. She said she suggested it so our children’s children may one day know a bit about us since no one will remain on urth for ever. So it is with a heavy breath and a fresh inkwell that i sit down at my desk to write this.

I guess i should begin by introducing myself, I am Kain Destral, A Tubori man who grew up on St. Helriem’s Noose, a small island to the southwest of the Tubor mainland. At the time of this writing i am only 17 winters old but have already succeeded in obtaining my dream job of being a Clerk with the Reeves, Yet that is not even the the best part for i unexpectedly found the love of my life at this years masquerade. She and i started talking about philosophy and we seemed to fit together so well. We eventually met without the masks and unintentionally i started to court her. It took us about a full month before we could admit our feelings to each other  Now we are to be wedded as soon as we get our banns posted and approved. Turns out we will both be working for the physicians now that we our officially in the guild. I must say if this is what happiness is i am glad i have someone to share it with.

Well i think this will be enough for the first entry, i mean don’t want to include more information than one can handle plus i have to get ready for a nice dinner at the Golden Coin.
