New page

The Five Declarations and Three Canonical Laws represent the absolute
core of the faith, the basic tenets of Davism as declared by Dav himself.
The Declarations are given to all people to follow, while the Canonical
Laws speak to the nobility and the Order itself - organizations and
powers.

The Declarations
1. The Law of Observance - All members of the faith must observe the
traditions of the Church: its holy days and its practices. By such
observance, we ensure that the fabric of society remains woven tight, and
that all members of the community may guard the souls of one another with
vigilance.

2. The Law of the Spring - All members of the faith must drink from the
Holy Spring to know the wisdom of the Lord. Those with the means should
journey to the source itself; the less fortunate may drink of waters
blessed in the name of the Lord. Only those of Lithmore itself, the land
of the spring, may drink from its upper course; those who came to the Lord
later, through the Consolidation, must drink of the lower mouth.

3. The Law of Giving - All members of the faith must provide a tithe
(one-third) of their income to the Order every month, in order to fund the
Order's works within the Kingdom. Those who refuse to tithe commit a
heresy against the Lord.

4. The Law of Consortion - Taint breeds taint. Those who consort with
mages, heretics or excommunicates are stained by the mere presence of evil
in their lives. Only atonement through penance can hope to purify the
soul.

5. The Law of Confession - All members of the faith must seek the guidance
of a vested priest to bring the Lord of the Springs into their daily lives
and ascertain the correct penances when they have strayed from the Lord's
path.

The Canonical Laws
1. The Law of the Inquisition - The Order must maintain an arm of
specially trained and tasked clergy, one dedicated to rooting out the evils
of magery and heresy wherever they spread the demonic taint through the
Kingdom.

2. The Law of Charity - The Order must always work toward the betterment of
the lot of all through charity. Using the tithes of good citizens, the
Order is tasked with opposing poverty, suffering, ignorance and other evils
that drive souls to wrack and ruin.

3. The Law of Caring - The nobility, as they are set above the common
people, have a responsibility to their inferiors. It is the duty of the
nobility to offer guidance and charity to the common people. Additionally,
the nobility are charged to be stewards of the common's people welfare;
while courtesy and the dignity of a noble's position must be maintained,
abuse of commoners is not acceptable.
