good, and Melah, his evil brother. Halem is empowered by goodness and
selflessness, while Melah is empowered by suffering and cruelty. Melah was
shattered by Halem's might, but works to grow powerful once more. The Lady
of Suffering is Halem's voice on Urth, endowed with the ability to take on
the pain of her adherents.

'''Sins:''' Creating unhappiness or suffering is seen as a sin in the Path of
Fire, but their religion takes a very utilitarian view: the most happiness
for the greater number of people is preached. Selfishness is the ultimate
sin for a walker of the Path.

'''Magery:''' Magery is viewed with suspicious and distrust as a corrupting
influence. Members of the Path will usually drive mages out of their
congregations, and will kill anyone who is thought to be a demon-summoner
with extreme prejudice.
