Located just southwest of the city of [[Lithmore]], the Barony of Lyndale is
perhaps sleepy and idyllic. The land is comprised mostly of rolling hills
and open fields suitable for farming and the grazing of livestock. Streams
branching off of the [[River Bren|Bren River]] provide irrigation for the farm land.
Though fields for growing grain and vegetables are plentiful, forests are
scarce in the region. Lumber must be imported from neighboring lands,
making stacked stone a more common building material. There are many small
farms and villages scattered throughout the region. The largest town is
Avolene, a trade center located in eastern Lyndale. Lyndale Keep sits atop
a hill overlooking Avolene.

The inhabitants of Lyndale are known to be generally warm and friendly
people, and hospitality holds an important part in the local culture. Many
Lyndalians proudly trace back their heritage back several generations, most
within the same small villages in Lyndale. Tradition and community both
hold a fond place in their hearts, and each town or village has several
traditional festivals, staggered throughout the year and held at the same
time for centuries. These festivities, coupled with news from travelling
bards of the goings on in the big city and neighboring areas, provide
enough excitement for the barony's tranquil populace, and they are content
to keep it that way. In many ways, they are very typically Lithmorran,
including physically, though perhaps just a touch more willowy and with a
higher prevalence of red hair.

For over three centuries, House Kincayde ruled over Lyndale and was well
loved by the populace for the constancy. Many families were proud to have
served the house for several generations. However, during Queen
Charmaine's reign, the last scion of the house passed on, and Charmaine
placed the barony in the hands of Marisa dul Damassande, a [[Vavard|Vavardi]] woman
raised to the nobility. Lyndale has not known quite what to do with its
new lady, so very different from what they have been accustomed, but House
Damassande has been content to opt for mostly subtler influences and leave
things mainly in the hands of those who have overseen them for ages.
