The former Earl Marshall is Ambros de Montford, the younger brother of
Airik, the former Duke of [[Farin]]. He is therefore the uncle of the current
Duke of Farin, Cameron. From his youth, Ambros seemed destined to pursue a
military career, and was at the front at the tender age of fourteen when he
killed his first man, an assassin sent to kill his commanding officer.
This gained him a reputation early on as a person to take notice of. From
then on, Ambros was almost constantly at the front, battling the [[Daravi]] and
making quite some headway thanks to his quickly developing talent for
military tactics. When the former Earl Marshall hung up his spurs, Ambros
was chosen almost unanimously to be successor, and it is a task that he has
taken to with skill and relish. He is said to be chafing a lot under the
current truce with the Daravi that he inadvertently brought about by
capturing the Daravi Prince.

Despite his lofty titles and stern reputation, Ambros is rumored to be the
softer side of his marriage, arranged in SC 294 between himself and a
Vandagan bride by the King's well-meaning consort. Since then, Ambros has
taken to hunting with a vengeance, visiting the estates of other nobles
almost weekly - and, conspicuously, without his Dame.

Shortly after [[Iolaide le Fontaine]]'s execution for Treason, Ambros left
Lithmore and his position as Earl Marshall.
