I’ve updated Chloe’s Character Profile with information about her psychological profile and pre-game background. I hope people enjoy that.

Alas, this blog will now languish, I think, as I’ve chosen to actually rename the character entirely once I pick out a suitable name. It’s been fun, and thanks again everyone! I hope you enjoyed any RP you had with me.

Oh, I’ve also added a log of Ariel and Chloe’s “shenanigans” the night of the Murder Mystery Masquerade – for anyone who wants to know what really happened. Thanks for the log donation as well as the fun, tpb Ariel!

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Here is the blog of a character, Chloe von Dmitreva, that was created off the cuff to be a replacement for Anastaci. Anastaci was, to put it simply, a nasty piece of work. Chloe was intended to be more of a harmless ditz with a carnal streak – funny that she never successfully seduced anyone, even with the title of Countess! In any case, she was fiercely loyal to Romana and the Order, even when the Order was vicious to her (I’ll dig up some earlier things).

For those who never solved the mystery, Chloe is the one who instigated the bloodshed in Amhurst and set up Angold to take the fall (poor Angold). I’ll see about digging up some older desc notes on that…

For this wonderful RP experience, please allow me to offer my deepest thanks to: Romana, Tobin, Julea, Remi, Edvard, Yayinne, Ariel, and Marisa. You truly made Chloe’s stay in Lithmore great, and I deeply enjoyed almost every bit of it (until the end when OOC stuff got back to me – I’ll try to avoid that if I create a new alt).

    And without further ado…

I just want to take a moment to say thank you to Julea for enriching my game play, and everyone else’s for that matter. It’s a shame that she died, and I hope her player comes back to play one day.

Julea’s player did a lot for TI – she’s responsible for our website, the blogs, and even really, for Chloe running the Murder Mystery Masquerade, which everyone seemed to enjoy. She sure brought a lot of drama and fun to everyone’s game, and freely gave us ideas from her own game, Dark Isles.

On a personal level, I’ve lost characters before, and I remember it being horrible. These days those deaths don’t bother me remotely, but I know for a fact that there’s often a very real sense of grief that we have when a character dies. They’re a part of our psychology, afterall, and we can only meet them again in new worlds or stories we write instead of directly through play in their ‘homeworld’ so to speak.

Anyway, if you have the chance to read this – we’ll miss you, Julea.

Sorry folks, I know some people will probably figure this is kinda lame of me, heck I do a bit… but I’ve gotta quit playing for awhile. I don’t OOCly have the emotional fortitude to play through some of the lies and crap (in my opinion) being flung my character’s way at the moment. It’s embarassing, but I guess, like the player of my character’s sister, I’m just not having any fun.

It annoys me when people get a OOC hard-on for other people who are opposed to them in IC conflicts.

I got a tell from someone on an alt complaining about this char and how clearly unrealistic her point of view was (not that what they expressed as “the facts” demonstrated awareness of the character’s inner workings, knowledge base, relationships or true biases). However, they did make her out to be downright petty.

C’mon, where’s the respect? I mean, how many people really are bad RPers on TI? There is almost definitely something, or a lot of somethings, you don’t know when shit hits the fan on this game. That’s even true when the RPers in question aren’t terribly great at it. Fundamentally, however, no matter how crappy the RPer is, most of us especially know the difference between IC and OOC.

If anyone thinks what my character does is wonky or unrealistic, and wants to know the full truth, I invite you to ask. Please, approach me after things have settled down and we can chat about it. This said, can’t we be adult enough to realize that sometimes we just don’t agree with each other about how one another should reasonably act?

Anyway, to the world at large – if a character is mucking with yours, won’tcha please give them the benefit of the doubt?

You know when trouble is up and you start preparing for your character to bite the bullet? I’m prepared! I was just realizing today that there’s a good chance she won’t live until the Murder Mystery Masquerade. Well, if that happens, shit, thanks for all the fun, folks!

And I guess what I’m trying to say to all of the people reading this and scratching their heads like ‘what the hell?’, is *teehee* I’ve been naughty. Again.

I noticed on someone else’s blog that they had thoughts about The Inquisition, and how horrible it makes the Order out to be. It got me to thinking, because as we all know, The Inquisition really happened – in our world, sans high magic. In our world, however, it very much was a battle of politics, faith, and power.

I think it made me give pause for a moment, and remember in a sort of faceless way, all the people who suffered and died throughout history in tragic circumstance. It’s sad that we have a game that embodies this, and that the storyline is so extremely compelling… but let’s face it, it is. Compelling, I mean.

I wonder if that’s a commentary on why we as people on this planet are cruel to one another. Is it, in part, simply a matter of entertainment?

I don’t see TI’s Order as being evil any more than I do our IRL churches, some of which very specifically were a part of the true Inquisition (which, to my understanding is actually still on today, albeit in a far less brutal form). The Holy Order, like most churches today, is also a very positive force on TI, supporting orphanages, charities, and communities.

As a game, overall, I think that it’s important for there to be core, very human conflicts. Slavery and freedom, discrimination, coming of age – all of these are pervasive themes in literature, and they’re pervasive themes on TI. Without challenges, the characters we create would be truly bland.

One thing that’s interesting to me is how many players choose to play “bad guys” – but what is a bad guy? Is it the Order for enforcing discrimination and cruelty upon mages, or is it people robbing and murdering for profit? Isn’t it strange that we take thief characters for granted as exciting, roguish character concepts, but vilify the Inquisitor? For some reason, people find mages sympathetic – my best guess is because magery is seen as a challenge of birth. I hope that changes with the magic revamp, because the best mage concept in my mind is someone looking for power and willing to do practically anything, even insane, horrifying things, to get it.

Anyway, that’s just a ramble. I like the idea of having OOC thoughts on a blog, so I think I’ll do it now and again. Thanks for reading!
