I haven’t thrown a party for ages, and certainly not in Lithmore. I do so hope that the house is ready on time. Still, there’s such a lot to do! I’ve prepared a checklist to ensure that everything goes smoothly…

    (X) Determine the type of party (Murder Mystery Dinner)
Thanks to my beloved Fool and a few off-hand comments overheard at the Theatre, I decided to run my own theatre event, where all guests can pretend to be an actor in a mystery. Naturally, this means I shall have to enlist the assistance of the Troubadours – my own Court Jester has agreed to liaise with a few of the required parties to assist.

    (X) Determine the venue (The Dmitreva Estate)
I’ve decided to hold this event at my home. Afterall, I am seeking to be acknowledged as a member of the Lithmorran Court, and to do so, it is evident that I must demonstrate myself as a ‘desirable’. That, of course, will depend clearly on the presentation of my wealth and generosity, given that I’ve little pedigree. Sad, but true.

    (X) Determine the entertainment (Troubadours)
Simply the best entertainment to be had in all of the Five Duchies, it will go far for them to provide the atmosphere for the party. I’ve yet to see what this particular request shall cost me, but I hope it is not too dear given my most amicable terms with the Guild thus far.

    (X) Special Arrangements
In this instance, I think the party will be most fun if we can suspend sumptuary for the night. The Lord Justiciar has agreed not to enforce the law upon party goers, and the Cardinal has agreed that, whilst he will not lift the ban, a blind eye might be turned to the use of the color red… provided revelers don’t go ‘too far’. I expect that he means no one ought to dress as a member of the Church, but that should not be a problem at all. Still, I’ll be certain to speak with the tailor I’m negotiating with to ensure that such things are stymied at the source, and none of my guests need fear a thing.

I’m also sorting out negotiations with a tailor to set up a fund for all revelers to draw upon for their masquerade costumes, just to defray the costs a bit. Afterall, it’s to be an open party, and it wouldn’t be any fun if we knew who everyone was simply by the limits of their jewels, now would it?

I am hoping that Honeybell the Jester and the tailor will provide some creative assistance with the props, costumes and backgrounds. It’s all so much to do on one’s own, and I’m overseeing building works as it is…

( ) Roles and the Game
I shall, of course, play myself the hostess. Each of the guests, upon arrival, will be given a role with a background, interests, motives, and the like. They shall also receive a clue sheet to assist them in keeping track of clues. The guests will be asked to maintain that they are this character throughout the dinner, no matter what occurs. However, guests must abide by game rules, which primarily state that they may not lie about any of the clues on their lists which they are requested to disseminate. Guests will be able to approach the hostess to request a clues if they require a hint, such as in a situation where information seems conflicting and the like, but I haven’t yet determined how this might be limited or earned in the game. That sums it up – most of it, anyway.

    ( ) Food
Now, what to do about food?

    ( ) Prizes
I must arrange some tokens for remembrance and a prize for the best costume… as well as the first person to solve the mystery!

( ) Advertisements (IC_Events, Posters, Rumors, and Mail)
I really need to formulate some posters and place them around Lithmore City… how will I manage that with my busy schedule? At least I can trust the Troubadours to talk it up. They’ll gossip about anything fun, especially parties!
