OOC Meeting 9-6-2026
Posted: Sun Sep 06, 2026 3:41 pm
Karrin claims, "OOC Chat Rules:
- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one player. If there are concerns about a specific player, please address that with staff privately.
- This is not the correct forum for bringing up policy violations. If there are instances of perceived policy violations, please address that with staff privately."
Karrin muses, "Ok! How has RP been this week?"
Capitalism drops an explosive in the corner, "Pretty good."
Motherof claims, "It has been entertaining.
"
Karrin says to Emee, "We just asked how RP was this week."
Mirielle claims, "Not bad, from what I remember of it. >.>"
Meiari claims, "The little bit I was around was pretty awesome x3"
Dorothy gives a cute square incense shaped as a colorful Yuletide present to Emee.
Emee claims, "Its my first week and I've been enjoying meeting everyone on the grid! And getting used to things."
Karrin claims, "Very good, do we have any topics this week? I think everyone's protesting that Temi's not here."
Motherof declares, "It's great to have you around!"
CherrySpice exclaims, "It was fun here. A little quieter than last week, but that's fine. And great to meet you, Emee!"
Bigman says, "I was mildly distracted by my laptop exploding yesterday, otherwise somewhat quiet."
Emee queries, "Whats a typical topic to bring up?"
Karrin states, "Exploding laptops are concerning."
Meiari finishes abruptly, "Yikes - PC explosions are the worst"
Capitalism claims, "Questions. Ideas. Concerns."
Karrin claims to Emee, "Questions, ideas, that sort of thing. It's just open forum where you all have our full attention."
Karrin states, "If anyone comes up wiht a topic, send me a tell. I'll address that after staff updates."
Karrin pontificates to Dorothy, "You go first!"
Bigman says, "Basically anything that isn't a private staff question. So like policy concerns ect are staff stuff. "
Dorothy finishes abruptly, "Ah, well, I don't recall doing too much - so I'm going to presume I was distracted with back to school stuff more than anything. BUT - I did make the gifty this week because Temi isn't here <3"
Capitalism riots in the corner because Temi isn't here.
Meiari joins the mosh pit.
Karrin says, "I can confirm, she did. I think Harrow was our main person online this week."
Karrin questions to Harrow, "Update?"
Motherof loves the giftie.
CherrySpice builds a little shrine to Temi's memory.
Harrow claims, "Nothing on my end really. I intend to be involved quite heavily in the next header, but we need to give you guys time to breathe after the last, and regardless, I've had IRL troubles to worry about that have taken my attention away a little."
CherrySpice says, "Hoping things ease up for you, Harrow."
Karrin states, "Harrow has, however, been on 5x more than the rest of us. So she has my thanks for being present. It's a big deal."
Bigman says, "I must admit that I sometimes wonder when and if harrow sleeps."
Karrin states, "Well, Harrow is a necromancer. So. She doesn't sleep often."
Karrin says, "I haven't been around as much as I'd like this week, but things should be calming on my side to let me be around more and properly terrify the population."
Karrin wonders to Emee, "Ok! You had a topic?"
Emee questions, "Yeah so hi I'm new here! And I joined the Reeves because I know its a little quiet there. I was wondering about the restructuring talked about on the application note... the reason given for no apped in Justicar?"
Karrin says, "Ah, ha. Ok, so."
CherrySpice claims, "Heh."
Karrin claims, "The Reeves have WAY too many roles to sustain with the low pop, we needed to do a restructuring. I have actually tasked the last two app-in Justiciars with that, and things sort of got derailed for both of them and it never happened. So, I need to sit down and just figure it out, or if there is a Reeve volunteer to help, we can do that, too. I don't think it's intentional that I left the Justiciar off app-ins, actually, because a new Justiciar could do that. More that I don't want anyone sliding in at a journeyman level when that level may not exist once we do this."
Karrin says, "And the role system is evil and complicated."
Emee claims, "Eviiiilll "
Capitalism coughs something something about the Role System.
CherrySpice says, "It's also quite an involved role that would demand a very active and creative player."
Emee claims, "And I agree they have SO many roles like clerk and magistrate "
Karrin claims, "We aren't trying to like... cripple the Reeves, though some sort of necessary restructuring has been talked about, or altering of how they work to draw in population. We're just not wanting to confuse people coming in mid-transition."
Kareem claims, "I volunteer to help with the Reeve roles."
Karrin nods.
Capitalism claims, "The Reeves need a good kneecapping."
Emee states, "I can help as well if needed but Emee is just a cadet ATM"
Karrin says, "Ok, so if we want to get a meeting going where we just talk about that, I'm open to it. We could have the restructure come down from above - but we need to create something that actually works. And, we've been beating a dead horse for years, what is there... doesn't work."
Emee states, "The fun part is the challenge of proving herself to be lromoted "
Capitalism rustles up a nice shillelagh and offers it to Karrin?
Karrin claims to Emee, "It'd be OOC help, you'd be welcome."
Emee says, "That would be great, maybe see if the other two Reeve players would be down"
Karrin says to Capitalism, "You win."
Kareem claims, "I think a meeting would be great. I wanted to discuss what staff wanted us to be as Reeves, vibe wise, anyway."
Karrin says, "Yep, let's see what we can do. Come with ideas to fix and not just problems (we know the problems), and we can maybe move forward."
Emee states, "If you can get a list of the problems either Karrin or Kareem and make it a list in a note I can look over it and theorize"
Emee says, "I have not been here long enough to know them all"
Karrin says, "We can make it open to anyone who wants to help, or we can just leave it to the Reeves. Doesn't matter to me."
Karrin claims to Emee, "That makes sense. I'll let the players list the problems, though, and add in my on-high two sense after."
Karrin queries, "Alrighty! I'll get that taken care of. Any other topics?"
Meiari claims, "If I recall correctly one of the things people have mentioned in GL meetings regarding the Reeves is lack of ritual. So as a cadet progressing through the ranks that could be something you keep an eye out for? Things like what would be good to write down and have become tradition for future Reeves.
But I also have never been a Reeve, I'm just poorly recalling what others have said lol
"
Emee states, "Nothing else from me"
Bigman states, "Rituals for your special unit of guardsmen definately helps a lot. It also creates a sort of 'us vs the world' sort of vibe which really helps with internal bonding."
Bigman states, "I can still almost verbatim recite the guard promotion rite from when I was a sergeant somewhere heh."
Karrin claims, "Ceremony does create activity, it's a fair statement."
Kareem claims, "The other big thing is the two branches. We got a Guard and a Law branch, but we do not have enough players to make the separation make sense. You can see those in the guild specific helpfiles. (help reeve)"
Karrin claims, "We need to either cut off branches, or just... combine roles in logical ways, yes."
Bigman says, "Yeah, though I do like conceptually the ability for non combat PCs to join the reeves, but that's wholly because I suck at TI combat (maybe I ought to just learn)"
CherrySpice claims, "I remember this was kind of a mess when we had a Magistrate and Reeves. It'd be good to rework or cutoff the rolls to make more sense."
Emee states, "Force the guards to do the paperwork "
CherrySpice claims, "It IS fun to shout at the NPCs."
Emee says, "Big guys sitting with little pencils at tiny desks"
Kareem says, "I honestly think that it does not make sense for the time period either. We do not have really have court cases with a jury or anything. Trials are usually just for allegations of treason."
Karrin says, "Yeah, trials are few and far between."
Karrin wonders, "Not that they don't exist, they do, and we have space for it. But yeah. Totally fair. ok, do some brain storming, and I'll set a time for the meeting on a weekend, deal?"
Emee declares, "Sure thing!"
CherrySpice says, "Sounds good."
Bigman pontificates, "Works! "
Karrin claims, "We may not accept every idea, but having ideas is the main goal there. And then we can bloom from there."
Karrin asks, "Ok, any other topics?"
Kareem states, "So Maybe going with a system, were a single judge decides the fate of a case. that used to be done and it could create more character drama."
Kareem claims, "I will brain strom for the meeting then."
Karrin says to Kareem, "I think we need to get the every day figured out before we bother with the niche that rarely happens. That's not a hole we want to trap ourselves in."
Sparkles says, "I'll say this real cautiously. If you are cannot do combat, that doe not mean no one will do combat with you. "
cat says, "True"
Karrin states, "If we sit and nitpick the roleplay that happens once every five years, we'll never get to fixing the every day to make it function the other 4 years and 364 days."
Karrin nods in agreement with Sparkles.
Bigman states, "Oh, well aware, it's just like I don't understand it well enough to not make a fool of myself when I play a heavy combat PC. If someone kills me because I'm OOCly not good at the coded system, that's wholly on me, and possibly a learning experience
"
Kareem claims, "That is not what I meant, but we can discuss it at the meeting. XD"
Karrin wonders, "Alrighty! I think that's all our topics for today. XD Unless anyone has anything else?"
Motherof states, "All clear here."
Bigman states, "Quick reminder the Yule event is next week, after the OOC meet
"
Meiari exclaims, "Yus!"
Sparkles pontificates, "It's true!"
Bigman claims, "Dance. Or else. <3"
Meiari states, "I'm holding the Reeves to enforcing merriment
"
Karrin claims, "Ok, you all have a lovely week! We'll see you here next week, same bat time. Same bat channel."
