Karrin says, "OOC Chat Rules:

- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one player. If there are concerns about a specific player, please address that with staff privately.
- This is not the correct forum for bringing up policy violations. If there are instances of perceived policy violations, please address that with staff privately."

Karrin queries, "I need someone to volunteer to log and then hold the copy. Hoping to wrestle with the website help people this next weekend and get that nailed down so we can have our stinking website back. Anyone willing?"

Karrin plays a medieval big band version of the Jeopardy theme song.

Mirielle can do so.

Karrin wonders, "Ok. How has RP been this week so far?"

JumpsTart says, "Intense."

Kareem states, "I had a busy week. We got lots of new players and it was fun to hang out with them."

Kalana states, "I got a bit distracted and didn't quite get active for last week, oops"

Someoneloveable has been excited to get back in the swing of things.

Mirielle had her very first scene earlier today. "Lots to still learn!"

Meiari declaims, "Good for me! felt like rp wise I was productive"

JumpsTart exclaims, "Welcome, new players and characters!"

Karrin states, "It is a pretty steep learning curve here if unfamiliar with the codebase, but eventually it's easy to figure out. Just takes some time to figure out the nuances."

Karrin wonders, "Any grumblies or topics?"

Crownling eats a set of yellowish-orange dice, crafted out of cheese cubes.

Cleo says, "Well, it's my uhm...third day? Really chaotic, a lot to learn. I'm not new to MUDs, but still learning this one."

Cleo claims, "But the cheese is delish."

Karrin chuckles.

Karrin claims to Cleo, "Well, welcome."

Temi finishes abruptly to Cleo, "Absolutely no issue - we expect new players to take a bit to learn things, hence a nice long 'cyan' period where you get extra leeway"

Someoneloveable claims, "I've been here a while and am still figuring out things."

Ikeala says, "I am seeing lots of new folks, so that's always exciting."

Eeel states, "RP was great, really exciting things progressing for me."

Crownling says, "I'm just a returning player, not really new. Trying my best to get back into stuff."

Karrin claims, "It is good. Especially coming out of the huge slump we had Dec/Jan/Feb. We always have one, but this one felt massive after the 40+ we'd have online in November."

Kareem states, "If you have any sort of questions, you can always ask on visnet or the players in your scenes. Though sometimes you will get a 'find out in rp' response. That means that the answer is IC knowledge that most older characters can probably answer."

Sororitas claims, "Hehe nice. That's a funny item. It has been nice to see the game fully recover from the holiday slump it seems."

Cleo claims, "Right now i'm still in the stage of...remembering where stuff is, and learning lore and the class system. It's a lot to soak up."

Cleo states, "I have successfully managed to forget to bow to SEVERAL nobles."

Karrin says to Cleo, "Our nobles, at the moment, seem to be mostly 'gentle reminder' nobles, rather than 'lashing' nobles. But, that won't always be the case. As a cyan, though, always some leeway is given."

Someoneloveable makes a note to lash everyone.

Karrin claims to Someoneloveable, "I'll believe THAT when I see it."

Cleo says, "Gosh. I wish I could learn cheddarmancy. Being able to conjure cheese cubes at will sounds like such a great party trick. Don't give me any useful magick, just cheese."

Karrin states, "Anyway. If no topics, we'll move on to staff updates."

Temi grins at Cleo.

Cleo claims, "And when I REALLY focus my power...aged sharp cheddar."

Karrin claims, "Me, personally, I've been working with Temi to try to track down a bug. And I've been nudging several notes that we have been waiting on player feedback on before continuing - looking at a lot of you, here, note that when I'm getting to the third nudge, I'm probably a lil' annoyed."

Temi says, "She's never actually eaten a player, but you never know"

Cleo muses, "How do we see those notes?"

Karrin states, "And I've been setting out fun things for the header plot for people to find. Today I'm clearing out some plots, and then I'll drop the header plot for people to start throwing plots on. Remember that you can interact with the header plot for free. Due every Sunday, and I'll process Mon-Tues."

Karrin says to Cleo, "You'll only see them if they are yours."

JumpsTart says, "'board'"

JumpsTart claims, "Board will show you all of your unread notes."

Cleo claims, "Oh, I see. So..you've directed things to specific people and they're not responding."

Karrin states to Cleo, "Amusingly, it's usually them reaching out to us first. BUT, that said. I'm only mildly annoyed. The staff group is small also, so sometimes things sit for a long time on our side, too."

Temi states to Cleo, "You won't have anything yet, almost certainly. Usually they come after you've posted something, like a request to staff or an application. Though there's also the milestones, which are after each 500 hours of RP"

Karrin states, "I just get a little twitchy when there are a lot of notes on the board, and when I go through to clear them out and can't, it makes me grumble. XD"

Karrin claims, "Anyway, so this afternoon, header plot will be in, and several other plots waiting on me will be done."

Karrin claims, "... or evening."

Karrin wonders to Dorothy, "You next?"

Dorothy states, "On my end: more of the same. Finding balance once more between here and RL. Tackled some request things, have more on the plate. Moving onto typos with Temi, so that'll be fun. As you can probably guess Karrin is poking at us as much as all of you. Getting back in full swing after holiday slumps and everything else."

Karrin states, "I'm a mean boss."

Karrin nods sagely.

Dorothy grins.

Temi gives a set of yellowish-orange dice, crafted out of cheese cubes to Motherof.

Motherof waves.

Karrin muses to Temi, "You?"

Temi claims, "I completed the spec for the asset redo and have shared it with the other staff. No big issues yet, but I still need some feedback from Lochan about whether everything is reasonable to do, particularly on the tracking prominence activities, and we'll need at least some small changes from him to get started on it, so it may be a bit out yet with his real life hitting hard. I've also helped with some more sorting things out for our application characters, and been helping with the typo notes a little."

Temi says, "I'm not going to share the spec until we have his okay on the things, to reduce any disappointment for things we can't include, but hopefully you're all excited about progress"

Temi nods at Karrin.

Karrin nods.

JumpsTart states, "We like progress."

Karrin wonders, "Alrighty. Still no topics from players? Anything that you thought of while we were chatting, or from people who came in late?"

Sororitas states, "Excited for the asset update whenever we get to see the final product. Otherwise nothing from me."

Someoneloveable asks, "There's an asset revamp?"

Kareem says, "Excited for the header plot. I want to fight man-sized bugs please."

Dorothy says, "For what it's worth I liked the specs :D"

Sororitas wants to capture the really big bugs in an ant-farm.

Temi says, "Yep, we're planning on making assets a bit simpler to understand conceptually, and to encourage on grid involvement"

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

Someoneloveable says, "Oh, nice."

Mizzenmast declares, "That sounds pretty exciting, actually!"

Karrin says, "Temi had some really neato ideas for them."

Someoneloveable claims, "I like the fact that they could be a little more interactive."

HIEROPHANT states, "I have mixed thoughts on assets and am curious which problems the revamp is attempting to resolve and how"

Ikeala asks, "Will there be a sell/buyback period for existing assets, or is the idea the changes won't be that drastic?"

Temi states, "Yes, we'll be paying back assets we remove with a bonus for ones we require, and at cost for ones people don't want to keep anymore with the adjustments"

Temi finishes abruptly, "The big idea is that assets will only be things that represent stuff you can actually own - so real assets"

Someoneloveable pontificates, "Oh, Nice!"

Temi states, "And all the starting asset stuff will be moved to payments through the bank, so new players and players that don't actually own stuff won't have to worry about them"

Cleo asks, "The asset system sort of confuses me still...I've read the helpfile, but is it like uh, actual physical in game items? Or is it a way to facilitate writing that your character *narratively* owns something IC?"

JumpsTart claims, "Very nice."

Temi finishes abruptly, "We're also removing the limits on being able to purchase the asset you want - instead it will be more or less cost depending on how popular they currently are"

Cleo says, "Either way, I can appreciate the depth to which it exists and programmed. "

HIEROPHANT states, "At the moment, it's an abstract representation of a business that you run during your logged-out time, that produces income for you on an IC-monthly, OOC-weekly basis based on its associated city metric."

Temi states, "They are background items that make you money. They won't be actual physical objects, but can represent things back home for example. "

Temi says, "Like a farm or a mine or a shop."

Cleo claims, "I see. That's what I'd considered, but I wasn't super sure. "

JumpsTart states, "Or your aunt sends you money."

Temi nods in agreement with JumpsTart.

Temi claims, "Currently yes. Those are the ones we're getting rid of with the revamp"

Ikeala muses, "So, if I can ponder some hiccups that might happen in fringe cases, should I Request Board that?"

Cleo says, "Like I said, I do enjoy the depth at which it's been implemented. "

Temi claims, "Because you don't actually own your aunt, and it's not a real asset"

Karrin claims, "And theoretically, your aunt could die eventuall."

Temi claims, "Pboard for that sort of thing"

Temi claims, "Unless it gets to the point where it's impacting you and you need an adjustment"

Temi states, "But just thoughts should be good on pboard."

Temi trails off, "Any other questions on the general thoughts for the moment? I'd send you to the log of the meeting where we discussed it before, but..."

HIEROPHANT says, "I'm hoping if T1 assets are being looked at in particular that they can get one (1) resource slot, so that new freemen folks can get at least one thing to have cheaply to trade with others off the bat or support a skill, etc."

Ikeala queries, "Mostly in general, the complexity that in a game of intrigue/lies and other funny business(tm), all systems being tied to names is Big Brain at times. So, given some assets are for well, crimes, will things going through the bank have impacts/implications IC?"

Someoneloveable has to head on out, thanks for the meeting!

HIEROPHANT claims, "Saving that first 3,000 silver for a T2 to then also pay more for a resource is rough, starting out. Especially if you aren't simply spending all your starting XP on wealth."

Calivion nods with Ikeala.

Temi says, "Not currently planning on changing resource slots, though we could look at that in the future if it doesn't adjust things enough. Assets themselves could be cheaper if you're picking a less popular one at the moment. Also no impacts to investigations on them with this spec, though if it's just for stealing or whatnot, that doesn't really fit in the asset system with them becoming more physical things"

Karrin claims, "More that it's not one newbie gets a great asset with a great metric, and the next one gets an asset that doesn't ever yield them anything good. It's equalizing what the "beginning" is without having city metrics involved."

Temi nods at Karrin.

Temi claims, "You'll have a base level of income without worrying about metrics, and that can represent whatever you're doing the background"

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

HIEROPHANT states, "Well, it's more if every T1 is going to be a business, it stands to reason that business could be used to import something - your grandma sending you money doesn't make sense for that, sure, but a shop or a mine or what-have-you? It'd help newbies have more to offer in trade right off the bat, even with established characters; everybody loves a discount, new or old."

Karrin states, "So new players have guaranteed okayish income without taking up an asset slot. And assets, themselves, can become a thing once they're more established depending on how they want to purchase."

Mirielle says OOCly, "So as a newbie, is it best right now to just wait for the revamp before looking at getting an asset?"

Karrin says to Mirielle, "You have one already - it's automatic."

Mirielle nods

Temi claims, "This may be a while out yet, so feel free to get any assets you have in mind. There won't be any losses once it's in. If anything, we'll make up for taking it away."

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

Karrin claims, "We don't take anything away without replacing it with something else, or compensating for it being taken away."

Temi claims, "And I can discuss T1 assets having resources with the other staff, but I'm still leaning towards them being something on bigger ones"

Karrin questions, "Alrighty, anything else before I send you back to grid with your dicey cheese?"

HIEROPHANT states, "I have some math to consider, briefly. Just typing it out."

Karrin claims, "If it's for the T1 stuff, maybe better handled in notes."

Cleo asks, "How much RPXP to learn cheddarmancy?"

Karrin states, "Especially since you don't have insight into the types of changes we're looking at. So relevance will depend."

Dorothy grins.

Temi claims, "I'm afraid that's a special staff power! But you can create cheese in cooking, with milk."

Karrin claims to Cleo, "Could be funny to have a mage obsessed with cheese. I'd let that wait until you're more familiar with the game, though."

Cleo states, "Despair and lamentation. I've got some skill invested into Cooking, so I suppose i'll do that."

HIEROPHANT claims to Temi, "Well, if we look at T1 asset income, it can be anywhere from about 40 to 100-ish per week; if we assume a new character doesn't spend XP on wealth to accelerate it, and that the revamp basic income covers their costs for day-to-day gameplay and supplies like food, that's between 75 and 30 weeks (metric-dependent) of active play to afford a T2 asset. That's the biggest issue I have with assets as they stand, in general; new player (not new character; old monsters have death XP to burn) accessibility times.

Improving the T1's makes them more reasonable to buy at all - one every 10 to 25 weeks, for example - for incremental progress."

JumpsTart states, "I want an invitation to any and all cheese parties."

Cleo states, "Weekly cheese and wine socials at the Queen's Inn."

Karrin claims, "So, right. Idea board is the best place for that request, I think. Math as it is, there's a lot more behind it, and the revamps haven't been released to you all yet."

Karrin says, "As Temi said, we'll consider it."

HIEROPHANT nods.

Temi states, "Assets do lean more into something that's a bit advanced and perhaps to grow into, but we'll take it into account."

Temi nods.

Karrin muses, "Alrighty, anything else before I send you back to the grid?"

JumpsTart shakes head.

Mirielle is good!

Ikeala salutes.

Karrin claims, "Alrighty, have fun."
