Temi nods at LadyTenebrae.

LadyTenebrae queries, "Neaten things up and post logs?"

Temi gives a plump candle shaped like a bumblebee perched on a bonfire to Capitalism.

Bigman states, "Yep, Brae. And you get a little QP for it."

Karrin states, "OOC Chat Rules:

- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one player. If there are concerns about a specific player, please address that with staff privately.
- This is not the correct forum for bringing up policy violations. If there are instances of perceived policy violations, please address that with staff privately."

Karrin queries, "Alright, so. How has RP been this week?"

LadyTenebrae states, "I'll happily scribe"

Karrin says to LadyTenebrae, "We'll get you next week."

Cleo claims, "Absolutely delightful. Many fun things happened the world of character development."

Motherof states, "Good RP. So much I just can't keep up."

Bigman claims, "Been productive, had a fun bit of merchant RP, and I made a short description in one go at exactly 59 chars, so I've peaked."

Karrin queries to Cleo, "Other than smashing bugs?"

Sororitas states, "Been a great week! I've had a lot of awesome scenes! Lore dumps, character development, huge combat scenes, heart break, joy, all good things."

Karrin nods.

Highroller says, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH you lot are cool, but muh sleep and now I'm playing 4d chess in my head when doing other things."

cat states, "I must kill the tyranids in the name of the God Emperor of the Springs"

Soulless declaims, "Some very fun RP!"

LadyTenebrae states, "Roleplay and scenes have been fantastic for me"

Sororitas states, "Bigman the pure joy of nailing it first try with a short string is nirvana "

Cleo claims to Karrin, "That was a lot of fun too! I imagined hat] outcome would happen eventually, given my position. It's fine. But now I have further IC reasons to cleanse them. I also owe some other people some RP that've been trying to get at me."

Bigman claims, "May Orderite law account for all balance."

Karrin muses, "Excellent. Any topics this weeek?"

Cleo claims to Karrin, "That was a lot of fun too! I imagined =that= outcome would happen eventually, given my position. It's fine. But now I have further IC reasons to cleanse them. I also owe some other people some RP that've been trying to get at me."

LadyTenebrae raises her hand

Calivion states, "Work sucks, as usual, but fun"

Karrin nods at LadyTenebrae.

Temi says, "I'll have you all know this bee candle came together at 59 characters the first try"

Bigman pontificates, "Small one! "

Karrin nods at Bigman.

Hibiscus pontificates, "Magic!"

Cleo claims, "We're so proud of you, Temi."

Bigman points to temi. "That one, inquisitor! A witch!"

Temi nods in agreement with Bigman.

Temi queries to Bigman, "Think they can take me?"

Soulless says, ":O"

Bigman states, "I have 59 backup PC ideas, come at me"

Temi grins.

Temi claims, "I can believe that of you"

LadyTenebrae says, "The only thing I want to bring up is how combat is a little overwhelming at times and it's a struggle to play with the spam"

Temi nods at LadyTenebrae.

Karrin claims to LadyTenebrae, "That would be because you have so many people participating at once right now. One on one is a lot better."

Temi says, "Especially with big groups, it certainly can be, yeah"

Calivion has lost link.
Calivion has reconnected.

Karrin claims, "This is temporary, though."

Karrin states, "Ok! We'll start with staff updates."

Karrin states to Harrow, "Your go."

Harrow claims, "So, most of my time has been spent annoying Temi and Karrin with questions, learning commands, generally learning how to BE staff. I have also been involved in the big bug header a bit, though, I made some of the bugs themselves. I've also started on handling my first plot! That's all, really."

Motherof claims, "We're glad you're here doing all of that."

Highroller claims, "Big shoutout to Harrow for answering a question I had before I could even type out a "Okay I'll just ask Karrin" "

Karrin has transferred Kareem. [OOC]

Temi gives a plump candle shaped like a bumblebee perched on a bonfire to Kareem.

Karrin states, "Admittedly, Harrow is probably one of the fastest learning staff we've had. Very eager to dive in."

Kareem claims, "Nice."

Cleo states to Harrow, "Your contribution has been deeply appreciated! Your presence is a lot of fun. I'm sorry I had to kill so many of your buggies."

Harrow states, "Well I just asked Karrin for you Highroller, they were Karrin domain questions :P"

Karrin has transferred WeedEater. [OOC]

Harrow claims, "I don't do Policy."

Highroller says, "Still, the acceptable (and easier) answer woulda been "Ask Karrin" ;) "

Temi gives a plump candle shaped like a bumblebee perched on a bonfire to WeedEater.

Karrin claims, "Yeeeah, the staffers have extra access to me if I'm not logged in."

WeedEater says, "Thank you! The terror shall live forever in my heart with this candle."

Cleo claims, "This fear shall rest in the depths of my soul til the end of my days."

Karrin asks, "Alright, Temi?"

Sororitas states, "Idk why everyone is so scared. I love the bugs :)"

Jiraiya says, "The bugs motivated me to order ant traps for my townhouse lol"

Calivion states, "The bugs are fun, but limit testing has a time and place"

Temi claims, "Well! I've been working on getting up to date on plots, and I -might- even have gotten caught up on the ones that are mine. I'll have to double check though. But there's some that will be waiting on their next response from people. I know they're not quite all what people had in mind this time. Beyond that, helping Karrin with the buggies and getting their resets set up. And we've been taaaalking, about what challenge our next Seneschal should face, and I think we've got the bones of something good to finish fleshing out."

Karrin queries to Calivion, "Choices were made?"

Temi nods at Karrin.

Highroller claims, "=Mortal fear="

Calivion trails off, "Let's just say... Thank goodness I am a cranky old guy"

Calivion smirks knowingly

Karrin says, "I, personally, have been working on the planning of things for the plot. Harrow and Dorothy built the buggies, Temi helped with the resets. I just got to order people around, so I probably did the least amount of work there, if I'm honest. We have more coming. And I have a little reminder for you all."

Hibiscus has lost link.
Hibiscus has reconnected.

Temi claims, "You helped with buggy dens"

Karrin claims, "Oh, right. I did build the dens themselves."

Karrin says, "If you want to do something more permanent to those dens, don't forget that plots are a thing. Harrow is very willing to jump into things also - like the unfortunate event which happened with a certain knight."

Harrow says, "Tehe."

Temi says, "Such a happy noise for little baby staffers to make"

Highroller states, "I have to say, I'm mighty appriciative of how open people play this plot. As in inviting others to also be in the know and aware of what's going on."

Capitalism cheers for the tiny evil necromancer.

Karrin says, "And I have a message from pof Theodora: Thanks everyone who came to participate yesterday in the funeral and festivities, many feels, everyone was amazing."

Karrin claims, "I did specifically make this plot to 1) scratch some itches I felt were missing and 2) try to encourge people to RP together - escorts, running around killing buggy things, etc. Get people out of their houses. I've been quite impressed with the groups. It's fun to see."

Motherof states, "You did good/"

Karrin says, "And I can't say I don't cackle with evilness when things don't quite go right. I cackle a little."

Karrin states, "Ok, staffers, anything else before I move on to player topics? I have a couple."

Temi says, "Think I'm good to go"

Harrow claims, "Nothing to add."

Karrin nods at LadyTenebrae.

Karrin says to LadyTenebrae, "You're up."

WeedEater queries, "What funeral was yesterday?"

Karrin says, "I'll make sure a rumor is posted."

LadyTenebrae says, "Ah, I already said this before because I thought the nod was a 'go ahead' but my topic is about how combat is really overwhelming with the spam. And I'm a sighted player"

Karrin states, "Yeah, alright. This is temporary and because of the amount of bugs in dens and people on patrols. You can always make the choice not to go."

Temi says, "Generally combat is set on 5 minute rounds, and they can't attack again until you've made a response, or the 5 minutes has finished."

Karrin states, "Or have smaller groups to patrol with to get the singular buggies."

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

LadyTenebrae queries, "Is there any way at all that a small delay could be put in? So that people could still participate?"

Temi says, "But with so many attacking, each get a response in that time, so it adds up"

Karrin states, "If things are going very fast, it's because people are probably just using the same commands over and over, and pressing up and go."

Jiraiya wonders, "Could there be a setting to push the timer out for people that need it?"
Karrin claims to LadyTenebrae, "There is a five minute delay already."

Cleo claims, "Can agree. When you walk in before you jump into combat, your whole combat wooshing by as attacks fly and stuff dying before you have a chance to type is kinda disorienting. "

LadyTenebrae nods seriously at Karrin

Calivion trails off, "I will admit against swarms of NPCs like this my combat emotes are...."

Karrin states, "If everyone in the group is going before the five minutes is up, then that's why it's moving so fast."

Calivion claims, "Not my best writing"

Temi states, "The 5 minutes is built in so people have the time to respond. It's not really built around so many enemies at once."

Karrin says to Calivion, "Yeah, I don't mind it - I'm just saying, that's why it's going so fast. People aren't retyping, they're just pressing the up key and reposting."

Jiraiya nods to Cal and lols. "Yah. Swings his ax is a go to."

LadyTenebrae states, "I feel the same about mine. The desire to get ONE attack in before they all die produces terrible emotes"

Karrin nods.

Sororitas states, "So as long time combat player I have sort of prewritten a few emotes for the bugs cause they are so many and if they go first it can get really bad and they can some times post nearly instantly as the combat rolls over."

A roly-poly white-bellied puppy enthusiastically flops over and rolls exuberantly over - straight into Sororitas.

A roly-poly black puppy wiggles happily, jumping up happily at Sororitas before it takes an enthusiastic nose dive and rolls about haphazardly over her feet.

Calivion commits acts of unspeakable violence.

Karrin says, "You'll find that when it's not huge nests, or huge groups, the RP will probably be way more defined."

Temi claims, "But if anyone has any ideas how to make the system work better for larger groups, I'm sure we're open to discussing"

Temi grins at the little puppies.

Karrin states to Jiraiya, "I am not willing to make it longer just for certain people, no. That's not fair."

Jiraiya says, "I think being able to up your timer to 7 minutes would be nice. For someone who is visually impaired that could make a difference."

Soulless states, "I'm okay with seven."

Karrin says, "Alternatively, I could have had them make stronger mobs and code it as a swarm, but I did it this way on purpose so it FEELS like a swarm."

Soulless claims, "Slower combat means more thoughtful poses anyway. Less rush."

cat says, "Honestly I don't think anyone is really going to read emotes when you're fighting a swarm of like 4-5 buggos, the important RP is what comes after they are all dead tbh"

Karrin claims to Soulless, "You know as well as I do that no one is going to do that with this particular situation."

Karrin nods in agreement with cat.

cat states, "I can say I absolutely am not reading up to see how someone is poking a bug with a sword"

Bigman states, "In other muds, there was a system for 1 v 1 combat which is like what we have, and the mass combat was just swing target ect. But that was a whole different system with cover ect, it was move game-ey. "

WeedEater states, "Yeah I agree with cat."

Ikeala claims, "I will say one issue there is it might make it harder for folks with more limited time if things are pushed out a lot. 7 minutes doesn't seem like a lot but if you've played D&D you know what happens with that many folks on a battlefield all take that long per turn."

Karrin says, "I'd consider extending it if, in this situation, more meaningful RP was going to come from it. But, in the case of fighting 5-7 bugs, it is not going to be meaningful until after the fight. The adrenaline rush is "smash the bugs"."

Jiraiya says, "I'm good with stronger mobs. By the way... having a minimum number of characters and a maximum number of characters for fleeing can be quite annoying when you are in a panic to escape an npc

LadyTenebrae says, "I would normally read combat emotes but with the bugs it's an information overload so I feel like I can't do that and keep up with the RP that follows very quickly after"

Karrin nods in agreement with Ikeala.

Karrin states, "Believe it or not, 5 minutes can already feel very long. And, I'm not going to completely change the way combat works for this one header plot situation that is temporary."

Jiraiya nods and says, "Fair enough."

cat states, "I'm very certain that no information contained in stabbing the bugs is going to be important to the follow-up rp"

Karrin says to LadyTenebrae, "What I'm trying to tell you is - no one is making meaningful emotes in these huge fights. You aren't missing anything."

cat says, "Yeah, pretty much"

Calivion claims, "I would say five is good and people who are used to writing/reading paragraph emotes will just need to take a 10-15 minute pause"

Ikeala claims, "I'd say the good RP is usually the before or after, that's the same as hunting or lots of other kill mob type activities."

LadyTenebrae says to Karrin, "Gotcha"

Karrin claims, "They really are going 'swings at the bug' - I know, because when it hits the spam notification because it happens so many times in a row, it's showing up in staff land."

cat claims, "I do 'attack ant body stabs it in the butt with my big pointy sword' and that's about the extent of the important things contained in them emotes"

WeedEater claims, "Yeah. I think the last fight I was in was all 'shoots the bee in its fuzzy head' until I got taken down by the swarm. Nothing to see, folks."

Bigman says, "I love me an "emote eats dirt promptly" emote "

Karrin says, "It's honestly intended to be that way for this particular plot. I did it very much on purpose."

LadyTenebrae claims to Karrin, "The part about it being temporary part is reassuring to me"

Jiraiya says, "The last fight I was in was "yell run for your lives" as my emote. Cough"

HIEROPHANT says, "In big group fights, spending enough time on an emote that you lose your turn just means more damage taken on your side. it's fine, really"

Sororitas claims, "Duels and player on player combat tends to be much more RP centric. NPCs though really don't respect the RP lol."

Temi claims, "Swarms is not common. usually it's more one on one - or a few on one."

cat claims, "It's true, NPCs do not care and will fortnite dance on you so a certain level of expedience is expected"

Karrin claims, "Yeah. Someone, take this girl out to have some one on one spars so she can see how it's done. The more detailed combat emotes aren't really ever intended to be used on NPC mobs."

Karrin claims, "It's for PC to PC."

LadyTenebrae says, "I've had, I've had XD"

LadyTenebrae claims, "But do take me to more o_o"

Calivion trails off, "Yeah Knights arresting a mage or Reeves taking down a criminal.... those are going to be good RP scenes. attack ant body commits unspeakable acts of violence..."

Calivion states, "Not so much"

Bigman states, "So what we are saying, is we need Antagonist bandits. "

cat states, "True, someone resist arrest so you can get clobbered for her"

Jiraiya trails off, "Frankly even pc to pc... if you're in a real fight, not a spar, and you need to shorten things to make the timer...i dont think anyone would fault you"

Bigman Marks backup PC count to 60

Soulless claims, ":O"

Karrin says to Jiraiya, "I won't encourage that."

Karrin states, "However, let us move to the next topic."

Karrin nods at Bigman.

Karrin says, "You're up."

HIEROPHANT says, "Better to do a shorter emote than miss your turn, but not a whatever-spam emote, yeah"

HIEROPHANT says, "Against, uh, other PC's anyway"

Sororitas says, "I second Hieophant."

Temi nods.

Bigman says, "I just wanted to remind folks to also make a general board post when IC stuff is planned to happen, with some headsup if possible. I noticed some folks were very unawares the event was going on yesterday. I understand it's not always a possbility, but it doesn't need to be a super fancy post, just a "Hello, event xyz at XPM ST in three days" so people can plan ahead :) "

Temi claims, "Fine to spread the paragraph over multiple emotes when you'd do it in one in a less tense situation, as long as they aren't just spam."

Temi nods at Bigman.

LadyTenebrae agrees with bigman

Temi states, "I think there was some chaos with this last one, but hopefully most will be more notice and things posted"

Hibiscus has been transferred out by Karrin. [OOC]

Highroller says, "Speaking of notice: "

Highroller raises hand for small topic

Karrin nods at Highroller.

HIEROPHANT says, "Not every event is intended as a direct all-hands invitation. Sometimes you plan a scene and simply don't mind if others show up."

Karrin claims to HIEROPHANT, "That's equally true."

Bigman states, "Yeah, but this was very much a public event, and it *was* announced on the discord, which is what confused folks."

Motherof says, "Love me a good town crier."

Katarina says, "I did send a town crier."

Katarina states, "Well, no. I rang the bells."

Sororitas states, "Samething really. Order only TC"

Cleo says, "I didn't attend for IC reasons. "

Calivion exclaims, "Hark hear the bells, sweet silver bells, all seem to say BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!!"

Soulless states, "Also couldn't attend for IC reasons. :("

Calivion states, "I'll stop"

LadyTenebrae states, "I didn't attend for OOC reasons but also my character had no idea about it"

Meiari grins at Calivion.

HIEROPHANT states, "Mm. Well, beyond that, let's bear in mind we're not all privy to every circumstance of why things might not be done how we like every time."

Katarina says, "The bells would have been the IC notifcation for people who didn't know about it."

HIEROPHANT states, "Nor does every event need be announced in every single possible manner."

Soulless says, "Agreed. "

Karrin claims, "I do think we're bordering on people feeling they have to defend themselves here, and I don't think anything was done wrong."

Jiraiya nods to Karrin.

Bigman states, "Aye, neither do I, I apologize if it felt like an attack, so I apologize, not meant as one."

Karrin says, "People were ICly pulled in, as far as I understand, if they were ICly needed to. An announcement was made on the discord, which is an acceptible place to make the announcement, and ICly, Katarina says the bells were rung, so there was IC notification as well, for anyone else to attend."

cat says, "I wasn't feeling well or else I would have been there myself :C"

Temi claims, "But we can take from this the reminder that people appreciate the IC Events posts, when appropriate."

Bigman nods at Temi.

Karrin claims, "For just general notes, if someplace is on where, you don't need to "know" about it ICly to show up. You can hear sounds and wander in. You can accidentally make a wrong turn and wander in. If a place is on where (and the altar clearly is a public room), and you are going, "But my PC doesn't know about it," that's perfectly valid, but it's your choice - you CAN go, and are invited to go as per help whererp. Done and done."

Soulless nods.

Karrin states, "You are the master of the limitations you put on yourself for scenes you choose to not go to that you are inherently invited to. And anything on where that you can get to, you are invited to. Being on where IS an invitation."

Temi claims, "And you can have another reason to go there than why people are already tehre."

Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.

Karrin states, "You can pull it right out of your ass, no one cares. It's valid rules, and no one's even allowed to see you as suspicious for doing it. I think that one's in help twink."

Motherof lights a plump candle shaped like a bumblebee perched on a bonfire and sets it on the ground.

Karrin states, "The only one that might get you bitten on that is clearly accessible by everyone is where confessions are given. But even then, doesn't mean it can't be fun."

Motherof gets a plump candle shaped like a bumblebee perched on a bonfire.

Temi states, "I mean, if it's outright suspicious, you don't have to ignore that, but having a reason to show up that is half-baked isn't suspicious."

Temi grins.

HIEROPHANT says, "WhereRP scenes in dangerous places might be hazardous to get to or involve dangerous persons, as well."

[RPXP Gain: None] [HP:wounded MV:fresh P:walk]

Jiraiya turns on whererp in "Den of Angry Grizzly Bears"

Soulless claims, "Totally safe."

Karrin steps off her soap box. "Anyway. Yeah, players are not required to invite the whole MUD to an event - ICly or OOCly. Sounds like the invitation was sent out ICly for everyone online at the time of the event."

Meiari says, "Though if you need some sort of blanket format for a half-baked reason: 'I heard someone mention this place when I was getting my mail' - I do variations on the theme of this all the time."

Mizzenmast is idle.

Mizzenmast is no longer idle.
Mizzenmast has returned from AFK.

Karrin claims, "Any other topics? If not, I have just one more of my own."

Highroller claims, "I had a short one."

Soulless states, "Highroller wants more money."

Karrin trails off, ""I took a wrong turn," is a quick one, too. "Oops. But now that I'm ehre....""

Karrin claims to Highroller, "Ok, your go."

Highroller states, "We're looking to plan a Seneschal debate, Wednesday, Friday or Sunday night. Still getting the people organizing and the candidates to nail down a time, but keep an eye out for a date announcement :) "

Motherof states, "Ooo."

Karrin nods.

Cleo says, "Ooooo."

Karrin states, "Sounds good. Best of luck to all of those planning that in game."

HIEROPHANT says, "FASCINATING."

Capitalism questions, "So we're agreeing that the candidate that doesn't show up to the debate loses by default?"

Capitalism states, "And it's just an acceptance speech for the person who did attend if one attends."

HIEROPHANT says, "I think if you no-show the debate the other guy gets to do an acceptance speech instead."

Temi claims, "You're welcome to hold against them if they don't show up and put that in the support."

HIEROPHANT states, "YEAH"

Capitalism nods and agrees with this.

Motherof claims, "I like when they debate an empty podium"

Highroller claims, "We're looking to put it at a time that works for all involved (I.e: The one hosting and the two candidates)"

Cleo states, "Something something "MY OPPONENT IS A COWARD, AND DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP TO DEBATE."

Karrin states, "Ok, I have an event that I'll run - separate from the header plot - sometime in the next few weeks. Staff events, as you well know, ARE open to every player, so I'll be sure I give at least a week's notice. It'll be a murder mystery sort of event. I'll have Harrow helping me out, but also players will get to play and participate."

Soulless says, "Ooooooh."

Mirielle claims, "Oh, nice"

Motherof states, "Sweet"

Highroller queries, "Do we roll a d20 to see if we're the victim? :D "

Cleo says, "Fun."

Karrin claims, "No one will play the victim, but someone will be the murderer."

HIEROPHANT trails off, "I blame Captain Paprika, in the lounge, with the hookah..."

Mirielle claims, "I'll just volunteer."

Capitalism puts away the murder weapon. Whistles innocently.

Kareem claims, "I wanna solve a murder mystery. "

Ikeala is idle.

Ikeala is no longer idle.

cat trails off, "It was Doctor Green in the Study with the Crowbar..."

Karrin says, "I'll need 6-8 "participants" who are acting in the roles, so to speak. And then everyone else can attend and still try to guess. I'll work with the Troubs and we'll utilize the stage and just drag people out of the audience, I think."

Cleo asks, "How do we know the murderer isn't just Harrow?"

Harrow is idle.

Sororitas pontificates, "Oh that sounds pretty cool!"

Karrin states to Cleo, "Oh, he doesn't murder them. He just necromances them once they're already dead."

Temi claims, "You'll have to show up and find the clues to be sure though"

Temi nods at Cleo.

Mizzenmast pontificates, "That sounds fun!"

Karrin states, "And you offended him, clearly."

Harrow has returned from AFK.

Karrin states, "HER. The name Harrow has me goign back and forth, but HER. you offended her."

Cleo says, "I am sorry, Nonagesimus. Please do not soup my bones. "

Karrin says to Harrow, "Damned your name. It's harrow-ific."

Harrow claims, "Too late Cleo."

Harrow states, "Your bones are soup."

Motherof queries, "Any events planned for today?"

Temi grabs a spoon and considers Cleo carefully.

Motherof looks at everyone.

Karrin states, "I'm not aware of many."

Temi claims, "I don't think I've heard about anything either"

Karrin claims to Motherof, "Feel free to plan a party."

Motherof states, "Bug-hunting it is"

Soulless declares, "Just normal RP!"

Karrin states, "Troubadours, Let's talk Troubadours so I can give you my plan. Bring the other important peeps around and poke me so I can let you in on the details."

Karrin queries, "Alright, any last words?"

Soulless claims, ":O"

LadyTenebrae states, "'Thank you'"

Cleo says, "I hope that I at least become a delicious soup. Thanks for another good meeting."

Sororitas declares, "Be safe out there! If you die to a bug make sure it's either dramatic or funny so it makes a good story!"

Motherof says, "Just a last wave."

Motherof waves.

Karrin states to Cleo, "Squishy soup."

Karrin waves.
