Karrin says to Bern, "You need to post it on the forums."
Bern exclaims, "Oh, easy!"
Karrin has awarded you 3 QPs: scribe
Karrin says, "Alrigthy, here we go."
Karrin says, "OOC Chat Rules:
- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one player. If there are concerns about a specific player, please address that with staff privately.
- This is not the correct forum for bringing up policy violations. If there are instances of perceived policy violations, please address that with staff privately."
Karrin wonders, "So, how has RP been this week?"
Kalana says, "Good good, though RL is always busy this time of year"
BoyNextDoor declaims, "I had the best of scenes!"
Bigman says, "Bit slow, I'll admit, almost like there's things happening."
Sororitas exclaims, "I had a great time!"
Meiari muses, "Been all over the place, as one likely should be? I think?"
Bern claims, "Yeah, good but slow. I've also been grinding two crafts at the same time."
Bigman Dusts snow and mistle-toe off his shoulder
InvestSouthside states, "It's felt like a busy week for me even though it really sorta hasnt been. It's been a lot of lowkey scenes with the best guild"
Karrin claims to Bigman, "Darned real life."
Clood states, "Been cloodin' around when I can. I'm trying to make an effort to stay active"
Karrin wonders, "Yeah, things will, in general, be slower the next few weeks. But you can chase butterflies in the meantime, if there's no one around?"
Ysandre states, "I'd hoped for more, but RL has made it difficult. The few scenes I did have were good."
SSideCaretaker states, "The butterflies are fun for sure"
Karrin asks, "Alrighty, does anyone have any topics this week?"
Scarry claims, "Yeah, uh. Not much going on on grid, but that's to be expected. "
Bern claims, "I do enjoy chasing butterflies, and I can stick tot he rivers and lakes that I'm used to."
BoyNextDoor states, "Do like the butterflies a lot even if they are ninjas to catch"
Bern claims to Karrin, "We did get an answer from Lox about the fine-grained wood, but I was going to check with Temi that there wasn't some way to source it through gathering."
Sparkles claims, "I did have one thought/topic but it's not anything big."
Sororitas claims, "I have my own personal butterfly crusade going on with one of the merchants."
Karrin claims to Bern, "Ok."
Karrin states to Sparkles, "I have you, too."
Karrin states, "Ok, staff updates."
Karrin claims to Temi, "You can go first."
Temi says, "Well, I got the butterflies out. There's a few new things added to the butterfly chasers items, for folks to discover, for the ones that have items. Nothing too big"
Temi states, "We had a few little bugs with getting them set out again that I think have all been set to rights again, so if you had any issues, hopefully those are good again, but do let us know if you have any issues"
Temi says, "We're planning to leave them up through New Year's since we know people have lots of RL commitments that can make timing spotty, and it gives people something to do when their timing is less predictable for finding others"
Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.
Temi says, "So even if you're quite busy right now, hopefully you'll have a chance to enjoy them at some point before they are gone"
Ysandre states, "That's super appreciated. I do look forward to figuring it all out <3"
Temi claims, "Other than that, I'm rather behind on plots, so trying to get a chance to get through those, but also getting ready for the holidays in real life."
Temi nods at Karrin.
Karrin nods.
Karrin has transferred Calivion. [OOC]
Temi gives a cupcake bedecked with a knight belt buckle across the top to Calivion.
Karrin says to Calivion, "We were just talking about the butterflies - they'll be out until after new year's since people's timing will be interesting for the holidays. To give people something to do."
Karrin says, "As for me, I've been utterly beat for no reason that I can figure out, so I've been handling at the moment things, but have been mostly logging out for the evenings. So, behind. But, that's totally normal for me."
Karrin wonders to Bern, "You had something to ask Temi?"
Karrin has transferred Capitalism. [OOC]
WeedEater claims, "I do need to catch some butterflies."
Bern nods.
Bern claims, "So most of the high level crafts use 'a block of exceptionally fine-grained wood', which isn't the 'a large rectangular block of fine wood', you can make from Woodworking. Lox told me that the exceptional fine-grained wood you get through imports or buying at the lumberyard. I was wondering if there was any gathering source for that or if it was meant to increase the cost of the upper levels of Woodworking by making a supply floor higher and retaining value for those finished products that way."
Temi gives a cupcake bedecked with a knight belt buckle across the top to Capitalism.
Ysandre puts a cupcake bedecked with a knight belt buckle across the top in a heavy, leather, two-pouch apron that ties about the waist.
Calivion claims, "Obviously I am pro butterfly "
Sparkles states, "I will say a good number of top level crafts require at least one thing you can't PC craft."
Temi states, "There isn't currently, I don't believe no, and I believe the intention for that was to keep a cost level on them, though I didn't design that craft in particular"
Dorothy says, "Hard not to be pro butterfly"
Sororitas says, "I feel this has come up a few times tbh and part of it was because not all fine wood options were suitable for bow making."
Sororitas claims, "Though I only half remember all those convos."
Bern nods to Temi, "I think that's what the general consensus was, and I think Sparkles is right that most of the upper level crafts have that to retain that value as a floor. Thanks!"
Temi nods.
"Yeah, I specifically found it out from bowmaking as it's the only wood available for it." Bern notes. [Bern]
Ysandre begins to count their money.
Temi states, "Yeah, I think bowmaking is one that is specifically in there. But yes, it's intentional that not everything is able to be sourced without purchasing ingredients for every craft"
Scarry says, "Blacksmithing is almost an exception to this, actually."
Temi states, "Some will be more widespread than others"
Scarry claims, "Theoretically you can make all of it yourself."
Karrin nods.
Karrin queries, "Alrighty, ready for the next one?"
Scarry says, "But as someone who MADE grandmaster blacksmithing stuff I sure wish you could just buy it."
Karrin says to Sparkles, "Your turn,"
Scarry has lost link.
Scarry has reconnected.
Sparkles states, "So I was just wondering how you get the 'You have mail!' on login and if there's any groupthink about how to make 'You've got boards!' more obvious/highlighted."
Karrin has transferred Maymouna. [OOC]
Temi gives a cupcake bedecked with a knight belt buckle across the top to Maymouna.
Scarry queries, "Isn't that already in bright yellow upon login?"
"My assumption is the trail of pigeon poop from them circling your house trying to deliver." Bern offers. [Bern]
Bigman wonders, "I think it does show up with the rumors/mail/all that stuff, and also in red in score? "
Temi wonders, "Are you asking from an IC standpoint of 'how do you know?'"
Karrin claims, "Depends on the board. Some boards I think do show up screaming at you, some do not."
Sparkles claims, "More that it can get kind of lost in all the stuffs you get in a flood when you first login."
Temi says, "I personally don't rely too much on the login stuff because it does get lost in there, but check the little stars on account"
Bern did not complete the match with Sanura for a quest point.
Karrin says, "I just see it at the bottom of my score, honestly. Or I type board."
Scarry states, "Yeah, same."
Bigman wonders, "One could conceivably make a client side trigger to make it scream at you in BRIGHT RED or some such. (or make the text red on certain boards on login?) "
Temi says, "So, obviously the login stuff is not formatted in a super helpful way"
Sororitas says, "I always read those login notices then type score to check the numbers if I have a board. Is there a way to have prompt notice that you have mail or a board? Might be a neat add but idk."
"Oh, like the same notificationMessenger tag-on that goes there? That would work well." Bern says. [Bern]
Temi claims, "I don't know that we want it in prompt. An immediate notification when you're not checking in the middle of RP could be disruptive"
Karrin claims, "Theoretically, we can have things do whatever we want as long as Lochan can program it. But, if you put the idea board up, be sure to be very specific about what you're wanting to see, so people can agree or disagree, and he knows what to do if he decides to do it."
Temi says, "There used to be a 'You've got mail' message that got removed"
Clood is idle.
Temi claims, "Because people would drop RP and run off to go get it right as soon as the message appeared"
Calivion queries, "You don't spam score every ten minutes? "
Sororitas states, "Yeah I can see how that would be disruptive if people started to just run off as soon as they got it and didn't just use it to remember before you go to a next scene/home."
WeedEater says, "Yeah, that would irritate me."
Sororitas states, "Not a great habit to encourage yeah lol."
Karrin states, "Alrighty, if you have ideas, throw them on the ideas board to all with specifics. Mock ups, even. And we can always take a look at it."
Bern "I always viewed Mail as a sort of 'Get to it when you have time', and Notify as a 'Hey, do you want to talk right now and skip the back and forth of mail' sort of thing, same with Messengers.
Sororitas says, "Same more or less, Bern."
Temi states, "I do check score in RP sometimes, but usually not when I'm deeply in it. It's less upfront in your face."
Clood is no longer idle.
Clood has returned from AFK.
Karrin nods.
Karrin states to Bigman, "Ok, your turn."
Bigman trails off, "Just a small ask..."
HIEROPHANT says, "I spam score, affect, where, and who pretty much constantly, but I'm necessarily paranoid. "
Sororitas states, "I... may or may not do that too Hierophant."
Bigman states, "So while I fully understand spur of the moment stuff like executions ect, I've noticed in general, announcements of events are like a day or so ahead of time. That makes it extremely hard to plan around, which can be a bit stressful. I fully understand event planning is like herding cats, just wondered if a larger margin of headsup (with non spontaneous stuff) would be viable
Again, only where viable, just I like to be able to really make time for fun events so they get the attention they deserve <3"
Temi nods in agreement.
Sparkles questions, "How much further in advance as we thinking?"
Karrin says, "Yeah, for executions, etc, that can't be expected. But, I can see it for otehr things. Parties, etc, especically."
Karrin says, "Magebane announcements 2 days in advance doesn't really give people time to do masks/cloaks/etc."
Karrin claims, "Balls need gowns."
Temi says, "Totally encourage more advanced notice for most things, wherever possible. You don't need everything planned and ready before you put the announcement out - just the date and location settled."
HIEROPHANT claims, "My advice for setting events or scheduling on TI in general is pretty simple:
Set a date and time that works for you, with as much advanced notice as is workable, and whoever can show up, shows up. If not enough people show up to do the thing, you cancel, go home, and try again.
Timezones, work schedules, etc. is far too varied to really rely on any sort of RSVP situation, in my experience. It's usually just a good way to not have anything happen because not everyone you might want to go to the thing, can make it to the thing."
Karrin says, "I have also seen that trying to work around everyone's schedule doesn't work well. Work around those who are necessary, and set the time with enough notice that others can move things around, if possible."
Scarry states, "Also most things aren't like required anyway. I spared you all with the council meeting, tbh. It's a lot and most people have to be quiet for it."
Meiari states, "Tbf most people go to those things for the exp gain and lore drops. It's a good opportunity to follow up and ask 'wtf were you guys talking about'"
Bigman claims, "I usually like a week, depending on what it is, just for planning. Definately a reminder a little in advance, just if you tell me the day of, I can't guarantee I won't have 16 other things claiming my attention
And what Hierophant says, though I do like to do an attempt to at least make it in the right timezone for the key players."
HIEROPHANT exclaims, "If they're not critical (the Knighting requires the Squire being Knighted, so he's critical, for example) then they're nice to have there, but things must happen and we can't always make every occasion. This is worsened during holidays. So I agree, please announce things with more advance time when possible. If you're doing something off the cuff, improvisational, like a sudden party just for the fun of it - that's what the town criers and WhereRP are for!"
Sororitas trails off, "So normally events are pretty well planned out. As a recent failure to give advance notice though I admit the belting board was a bit later to go up than I meant. Life caught me there I do try to give more advance notice normally..."
HIEROPHANT states, "If the number on Where in a given room is > 4, people will often show up just to see what's happening."
Bern wonders, "Um, what is a town crier? Is that like a message to everyone?"
Sparkles states, "Yeah"
Sororitas says, "Exactly that"
HIEROPHANT claims, "Indeed, you prepare a message and the recipient is 'all' ."
Bern says, "Oh! Nice."
Bigman wonders, "Wait, anyone can do that?"
HIEROPHANT claims, "It costs more than normal."
HIEROPHANT claims, "Yup."
HIEROPHANT states, "As usual, please only town-crier things that make sense. Town criers will not go around shouting heresies, probably."
Karrin states, "Just make the message and the room the same, and don't include quotes."
Karrin says, "Make it JUST what the crier will be shouting."
Bigman Imagines a town crier shouting heresy, then the bells of river square going off immediately after
Maymouna trails off, "Heresy? Not in this city..."
HIEROPHANT trails off, "No one would be a heretic, no... of course not........"
Meiari wonders, "Heresy? in my Davite Minecraft Sever? Certainly not"
WeedEater trails off, "That's where heresy spreads..."
Scarry claims, "TBF, most heresies don't exist. But that's another topic."
Karrin questions, "Ha, alright. Anything else before I send you all back to the grid hard enough that you slam your nose into your cupcake icing?"
Clood trails off, "But the art..."
Meiari protects the cupcake.
Bigman says, "Periodic reminder to recommend your friends, foes, and enemies <3"
Scarry says, "I got none of those."
Karrin says, "Alright, you fiends. Go, catch some butterflies. And if I don't see you before the holidays, enjoy your families, food, and pressies."
Temi claims to Scarry, "Minions? recommend those too."
Scarry states, "Nope."
Scarry states, "I am thoroughly unremarkable and forgettable. "
Karrin chuckles.
Bigman claims, "So is yo mo--- "
Karrin states, "Have a good week, everyone."
