Many residents of the Farin Quarter are in a frenzy after a letter was
uncovered among the belongings of the late Farouk Ahmed, a criminal of no
small notoriety, who vanished during the eternal night of 365 SC. The
letter, little more remarkable than a record of deposits, matches none of
Ahmed's formal accounts, leading some to believe that he must have stowed the
coin, somewhere, in the Farin Quarter. As citizens tear through the remains
of the Old Quarter searching for the hoard, piles of the old and blackened
cobblestones have collected alongside the newly-renovated streets, earning
the district some complaints by its gently-bred residents.

Every year the ravidoroa butterfly, roughly "blue opal" translated from the
Vandagan, migrates between the Farin mountains and those of Vandago. Due to
the relative inaccessibility of their home regions, the migration is
considered the best time to capture the butterflies, prized for the vivid,
iridescent blue pigment of their wings. Set off their usual course by
unseasonal storms, the migration is traveling directly past Lithmore on its
way north this Maius. An odd assortment of people have arrived in their wake
as well, attempting to collect butterflies, offering to pay for ones that the
locals catch, and, in some cases, peddling their own wares. Several have set
up camp out west from the city for the few days the insects will be in the
area, their tents scattered across the fields. Some are apparently offering
butterfly nets to anyone who asks, hoping to entice them into collecting for
them.

Update: The butterflies have moved on, gradually traveling further north, and
with them go the collectors.

In the morning of Arendas, June 7, the Bardic Collage released a notice to
all of the locations Troubadours would gather. Veilus Op Tethno, a bard
often seen within the Capital has been chosen to step into the Poet Laudate
position.

As word spread, Veilus Op Tethno was found and asked about the appointment to
the position. He was heard to have said, "I'm glad they have selected me. I
know I have a lot of work before me, but I am committed to helping the
Troubadours and any who enjoy music hear us once again!"

In the early morning of the 13th, the body of Grand Inquisitor Reynold
Anderson was found dead in his office, hunched over his desk with hand
seemingly clutching at his chest. The cause of death is unknown though
physicians on the scene suspect something to do with the heart.

Upon hearing of Anderson's death, the Cardinal of Vandago expressed his
deepest remorse for friends passing, though did not seem entirely surprised
by the suspected cause of death.

"Anderson had often complained of pains in his chest region, though only to
his most trusted allies. He likely worked himself to death over the years.
He will be missed."

A representative of the High Synod called the citizenry to Church Square on
the morning of Augustus the 18th. Drawn by the mournful calls of the
cathedral belltower, a crowd of countless fearful faces received word from
His Holiness without excitement or pleasure: A new Grand Inquisitor has been
selected, and not from among the Priesthood or Inquisitorial branch of the
Order. Page Nalien Dellinor of the Knights' Lithmorran now sits the highest
seat of the Inquisition.

Citing hand-selection by the Cardinal himself, the disturbance that rifled
through the crowd proved quick to settle; while none were willing to question
the High Synod's decision, the biggest question was not "Is he suitable?" ,
Rather, "What does His Holiness see that we do not?" .

Among the Clergy, many questions remain: Has history been bucked and the
selection process forever altered? Is this a one-time decision, made for the
protection of Lithmore while the murderer of the Archbishop still roves
unchecked?

northern woods has taken a recent turn toward popular in recent days. A
respected gentrywoman was reported missing four nights ago, last seen riding
out the North Gate for Wilhelm. Rumors at the Half-Pint suggest that some
heard screams echoing out of the forest the afternoon she disappeared.

Criers with word from the Crown are moving through Lithmore, announcing a
bounty for the pelt of the Red Wolf. Whomever brings that proof of the
creature's demise to said representative shall be handsomely rewarded for his
efforts.

attendant in a black uniform with scarlet and seafoam flourishes tacked quite
the challenge up in Church Square. It would appear that the Countess of
Batarostra intends to challenge her countryman, Veilus op Tethno, to a formal
duel:

You have made a grave mistake, choosing to hide from us. You have lied to
me; gone behind the backs of your Troubadours; and unfairly deposed our Poet

bard to his position without fully apprising her, and allowed her to soak
your blame. Your support has eroded completely within the guild, the city
itself weeps, and still you cling to Laudateship like a sulking child
covering his ears.

I hereby accuse you of breaking your Bardic Oath by dishonesty to the guild
of Troubadours, to myself, and to the entire County of Batarostra through my
noble House. I accuse you of withholding critical information from Reeves
and Inquisitors, when your own Troubadours were victims. I accuse you of
making bribes and consorting with criminals in order to meet your own ends.

And so I am forced to throw down my proverbial glove: the disrespect you have
shown is no longer a small matter to be resolved with bardic games. As liege
of my people and patroness of the Troubadours, I call you out to face my
House in a formal duel. You will apologize to the bards, publicly. You will
apologize to me for staining the reputation of House von Mazin. You will
plead for Maerilin op Clabette's forgiveness; you will offer him his title
back.

champion, you canting, whey-faced wretch, or let Lithmore see what a coward

Haizea of Drothaine

Rumours surround Lady Haizea and the Poet Laudate, and whom they might select
as their champions (indeed, a few posturing mercenaries have already been
seen sparring in the Vandagan Quarter's streets), but if Veilus op Tethno has
even accepted her challenge yet, the feuding pair has not yet announced any
details. Public reaction has been one of excitement and intrigue, though the
most reserved Lithmorrans may find themselves rolling their eyes and simply
leaving the Vandagans to their blood sport.

Early morning on Septembris the 16th, 372, the pelt of the Wilhelm Wolf was
delivered by parcel to the palace, accompanied by a letter that generated
more questions than it answered -- a letter signed by 'The Red Hand.' Palace
guards fanned through the grounds to catch whomever had left the parcel, but
came up empty handed. For a lack of better options, a frustrated Lord Bryant
announced that he would keep true to his word. The bounty was forwarded to
the location detailed in 'The Red Hand's' letter, and the Crown seemed ready
to wash its hands of the whole affair.

Notably, the Chevalier who rode out through the King's Forest to scout for
the wolf's now obvious lair did not return for some time, and when they did
it was with ashen faces. Word was reportedly sent ahead to the Inquisition,
though for what remains unknown.

The pelt of the red wolf was delivered to the local tannery for preservation
and mounted upon the wall in the Queen's Inn Hall of History, and an
announcement has been made that the copse where the monster resided will have
a monument raised to the Marquis of Dastur Eirian ab Castell, for his noticed
determination to rid Lithmore of the menace.

In the brisk morning air of Octobris 7th, the Lady Justiciar Rimilde von
Rievirkrintz emerged from Cityguard with Lady Margaux ab Aguarossa. She
approaches a podium set up for the event and turned to face the crowds
looking relaxed, content and wearing a bright smile.

"Fellow Reeves and citizenry, it is with great pride and privilege that I
announce my selection for Proconsul of Lithmore. Lady Marguax ab Aguarossa
has served on the Judiciary in the past, but most notably as the Keeper of
the Seal for Her Majesty's Court and as High Steward during the final years
of the regency. A long time and great defender of justice, she brings to the
roll a wealth of experience in law and expertise in leadership. I have known
Lady ab Aguarossa for nearly seven years now, and I've the utmost faith that
she will bring the same honour and success to the position of Proconsul as
she has with her other appointments in the Kingdom," she said in a clear
tone.

The new Proconsul stood up to speak, "My fellow Lithmorrans, it is with a
heart-felt humility that I come before you today to accept this new role and
challenge in service to our realm, to the Lady Justiciar and through both, to
our beloved Queen. Across my years of service here in Lithmore itself and
elsewhere, the laws of the realm have ever stood as one of the pillars that
have guided my decisions- and will continue to do so. The other pillars to
which I subscribe are a quiet faith that guides me and a personal sense of
diligence that pushes me forward and encourages me to give my best, a
tradition that I swear to uphold as Proconsul of Lithmore."

The word around headquarters is that the Lady Proconsul will focus her
attentions on the administrative and financial concerns of the Lithmorran
Reeves as well as focus on matters of jurisprudence. It is said that further
announcements will soon be forthcoming from her office on aspects of Reeve
community involvement.

Earlier today, the Poet Laudate briefly addressed the Bardic Council.
Afterwards, he was seen going to the Church Square and posting up a note
there. Those that stop by were able to see that it was both an apology that
Veilus Op Tethno posted to The Countess and the bard Op Clabette as well as
his official resignation. The Troubadours are in a mix review of him
stepping down, with both those who were for and against it. In the end, the
position of Poet Laudate is now open and already people are talking about who
will take up the position this time.

After his short-lived removal from the Poet Knighthood, Maerilin op Clabette
has assumed the position of Poet Laudate after Veilus op Tethno stepped down
after posting an apology to him and House von Mazina in the Church Square.
Maerilin served as the Poet Knight and is currently the Court Bard of House
von Mazina. His two plays were most famous in Vavard when he served as the
Court Bard of the Duke, before coming to Lithmore.

announcement - the selection of a new Grand Inquisitor - Empena dul
Cybinese.

to take her Acoylte's vows. In that time, she has proven a faithful servant
of study, and even an increasing bastion for the people of Lithmore - giving
bread to the need, giving the guidance of the Lord during the celebrations of
the citizenry, and providing council and confession to those souls in

faith and her knowledge of the Lord and his Holy Word as her spiritual armor
and sword, and did survive such an onslaught at the Magebane by the

Upon this day - Novembris 10, 372 - the Brother Inquisitor Rothgar Astartes,
of the Holy Order, walked to River Square with two suspected Mages : Nem
Potter, and Fallon Vandismo.

The sentencing was exceedingly short. Inquisitor Astartes made a short
statement listing the guilts of both men, before holding a moment of silent
prayer for the both of them. Shortly after, the man spoke in silence with
both Potter and Vandismo before lighting the flame. Inquisitor Astartes
stayed in River Square for a moment after the Pyring, having this to say to
those gathered:

"The Will of the Order will not be broken. The Order itself will not be
defeated. For all within it's ranks that may be slain, a score will take
their place in honorable Duty. Those among us who harbor doubt within your
breast - those of you who harbor doubt in the Order, and those who ally with
it - may do well to recall that Faithlessness is the gravest of sins, and
will condemn one only to failure."

"To those who would seek to do the Order and it's allies harm, know this :
You will fail. You will fall. You will not only be defeated, but I will
personally ensure that your very names are forgotten from the annals of
history. You will not be remembered as heroes, or as villains - you will be
ground into the dust, and forgotten by all."

Blessings were given, and all were allowed unfettered exit. Inquisitor

spend a silver on southside, or on fighting a war in a land that is not my
own, yet I did so because I had the means to do so. What have I gained from

themselves. I do what I do not expecting anything in return, but because it
would be un-davite to do nothing."

While everyone is mourning for the loss that the Poet Laudate Maerilin had,
it is understood why he stepped down. The Troubadours Guild reviewed those
who were applicable and have determined in the end to re-instate Veilus Op
Tethno as the Poet Laudate. While this seems to have a slightly mixed review
from some people, the Council determined that he is dedicated to the
Troubadours and was willing to step down and admit the mistake he made.

When Veilus was approached about it, he looked solemn but happy, stating,
"The Troubadours have had a turbulent time over the past months. We all will
remember the brilliance of Maerilin Op Clabette had and we will continue
forward to honor him, even in his mourning.

On a cold day in Decembris, the Lady Justiciar Rimilde von Rievirkrintz led
Crunk Puste from Ahalin with his hands bound.

"Crunk Puste, a Vandagan man from the Hills is sentenced to hang for the
murder of an agent of the crown. He was arrested for disturbing the peace
and as such took it upon himself to murder one of the arresting Reeves in
cold blood. He uttered death threats against others in public. Furthermore,
let it be known that the man refused medical attention and clothing, but in
response assaulted my person," announced the woman who wears a dark bruise on
her jaw.

"Puste showed no remorse for his actions and vowed to kill every Reeve and
Knight should he be released." she said with a stern, solemn expression.
"Let this serve as a reminder that justice will be served to all those that
violate the law. During this season of Yule I ask that you take the time to
show kindness to each other, our community becomes stronger each time we
follow the law, treat each others with respect and honour our faith."

Crunk Puste was sent to the gallows where the executor fastened the noose,
hanging him until he died.

Amidst the city's Yule celebrations, somber news is announced from the office
of Cardinal ab Braye. Earl Marshall Gothan ab Moritz is presumed dead after
an encounter with the exposed mage Nalien Dellinor. Though scant hope
remains that the Earl Marshall lives, his body has not been found. In order
to maintain as much constancy as possible, the Grand Master has been asked to
maintain his position while Merick Ironwall steps in to serve as acting Earl
Marshall.

Some have noted that this will create less disruption if Moritz is found
alive, but others point out that Ironwall should have been long since
knighted; he has stood resolutely against mages, demons, explosions and even
lightning strike and more than proved himself. A few whispers suggest that
the only reason Ironwall has not been knighted sooner is the high standards
the supposedly late Earl Marshall has been holding him to, grooming him for
great things. Should there be no word to the contrary, the appointment is
expected to become permanent in the near future.

A Modest Influence Event

Word has spread among the Pages and Squires at the Keep of the Knights
Lithmorran that Page Quinn has taken the political side of Vicannia le Serre.
When asked why, this is what he had to say:

"I had known Miss le Serre for a short time but from what I have seen with
the harm that has come to her and the bad mouthing that is done to her, that
Lithmore has a reason to hold down others. There is something there that is
calling for change, one that Lithmore must embrace or repeat the lessons that
have not been learned."

The crowd goes on to ask him what lessons he thinks have not been learned and
Page Quinn had this to say:

"In my short time with the Knights Lithmorran, I have watched as people have
come from the most darkest of places and have risk their lives for the good
of Lithmore and the Holy Order. For their brave risk and sacrifice, I have
heard only insults and slurs cast back to them and yet they still stood
strong in the face of those who were suppose to save them. Does this story
alone not warrant the need for change? The threat of Magery is all of our
problems. Is it not time we stood as one?"

lead with dignity. In Lithmore, we do not stand alone in the eyes of the
Lord, but together. Therefore, It is my aim, if permitted to serve in the
capacity of Seneschal, to seek to maintain and deepen the dignity of the
position. To, with neither feud nor machination foster cooperation between
the various people and institutions that bind us all together. To help give
direction to talents and resources. To mend things broken. To establish
standards for upright and accountable behavior among our leaders. To
celebrate all these good things that this city has to teach us, and to work

Around noon, on Decembris 26, 372, the recently appointed acting Earl
Marshall held an impromptu speech at church square, he kept it brief and
direct as possible, as is his usual way of doing things. While he seemed
nervous, he also seemed to have an air of confidence about himself which
seemed to gather the interest of the people nearby.

"I know that my appointment may seem strange, it may seem out of place given
only a few days ago I was just a squire. I'm nervous the same as you all,
however there is one thing we can all look to, faith. No, I mispoke, faith
and trust, one is given, the other is earned. We must all have faith in the
Lord, faith in the Order, we must all do our part, we must all practice the
Declarations in our daily lives. Each and every one of us has a role in this
life. As for trust, trust is built upon and I hope you all will learn to
trust me as you did Gothan Moritz. Heh, he and I didn't always see eye to
eye on things, he was sometimes harsher on me than he was others, but this is
neither here nor there, he was a friend, a brother in arms, and I hope he may
still be alive, but we must accept the reality of the situation. I will
attempt to live up to his standards, I will attempt to give all of you the
support and attention he gave you all on a daily basis and further more I
will do my duty to the best of my ability at all times. The knights will
remain ever alert, active, searching for the ones that have caused the most
recent death, destruction and terror. I will not rest, I will not quit, I
will not let these tainted ones get away with what they have done. I will
see their souls saved, whether they like it or not. With that said, I would
like all of you to remember to pray, to confess when necessary, do not let
the taint take hold within, even the smallest sin can have the biggest impact
on our lives. If you have concerns, issues, questions, voice them directly

Amongst the other announcements of new leaders, one circulates that shortly
before Yule the former Grand Magnate, Aios Draiski stepped down from the
position voluntarily after a period of celebrated service. A farewell was
held in the Merchant's hall thanking him for his service and giving him a
send-off after his stated plans to vacation after wrapping up a few business
matters with Fair Trade and the Laborers Coalition.

Replacing him as Grand is the Magnate, Aldin ab Turess, of the Casterlay
family known for its farming estates. In a speech given at the farewell
party, Turess stated that his priorities would be cultivating the existing
talent in the guild and recruiting and developing more to help fill the
desire of all citizens for the finest crafted goods. Thanking the former
Grand for his leadership and service to the guild, Turess called it "an
honor" and that he would try his best to "fill the man's shoe." No
announcement was made concerning appointments to the vacated position of
Magnate, though a few rumors suggest applicants are being considered within
the guild.

That this is my fourth Pyring in just as many months is no coincidence. As I

duty does not end until death."
