Let me agree with Leech/Zeita as well, though probably everybody's heard me rant on this as well. I think it's actually one of our biggest problems, in a subtle way. It makes GLing a much harder task, because people who aren't necessarily up to that wheel-inventing challenge inherit a fragmented and often contradictory idea of their guild and have the stress of making it agree/make sense alongside the actual conventional GL duties. I think this is one reason why we see a lot of GL burnout and stagnation, and inactive GL = inactive guild = more inactivity in the game.
As a GL, I would happily give up the freedom to change things if it meant we could have a steady, standardized structure that everybody understood/knew in place.

And again, this doesn't necessarily have to be a staff thing, but I feel as if it should be more than just a guild discussion, for each guild. Each guild affects the game as a whole. With the exception of the Brotherhood, it might be best to start a forum for each guild and have players post their ideas and concerns about that guild, its ranks, its positions, and how they think it might benefit from changes.
The Brotherhood, as a covert guild, should probably just work within themselves - maybe open it up to interested parties (note board?) - but otherwise just work within themselves and staff.
Edit: Currently working on some help file change suggestions to make the EM and Commander roles have more of a distinction! Going to be posting them to a forum for player/staff review, as well as linking that forum in a general note. But now, I'm off to work!

There are guild forums already here.

By forums I meant threads, sorry. Threads for each specific subject (but yes, probably in their respective guild forum). I.E. ranks, requirements, roles, and roles integrated within the city.
If players were to work collaboratively on some hard set lists of those, would staff be willing to look them over at the end and give a yay or nay to setting them up via helpfiles?
