As the title implies, I'd like to have any xp done in a jail upped.
The reason: Players who are jailed can't leave. And people come by for rp very rarely.
By upping the xp, it would not only entice people to come and rp in a cell more often, it makes it so that those that can't leave get more than your basic rp.
Jail xp upped
I think this is a nice idea, and would make for a good incentive to RP in jail. I agree with this!
I'd also like to suggest, maybe, that Physicians be given access to Ahalin, in addition to the Knights, Reeves, and Order; this might help provide a bigger 'cast of characters' who would be available to RP with detainees, and would really help our guild in general have a bit more purpose. We'd be able to do all sorts of healing regimes in the cells!

All for things that give more reason to rp with prisoners. I think making the main cells public should do the trick?
Also keen on Cellan's suggestion, this makes a lot of sense to me. The Physicians were always considered an arm of the 'Lithmorran state' and I could certainly see this extending to jail access to mid-ranked members and above.

Absolutely agree, especially since we are moving towards a system where criminals cannot break out without outside help. It's a risk, giving a wider population access to Ahalin, but the whole point is to lessen break outs (which this will still do, regardless, compared to the old system) and give people more RP (break out RP, rp about the falling out of breaking somebody out, etc)! Which is what the game is all about.

Maybe there could also be some way to have prisoners in a "public" or pseudo-public area so that they aren't limited to a scant handful of RP partners during incarceration? Not sure if it's really feasible, but if there's like a series of "cages" in River Square that can prevent someone from leaving, giving/accepting items, sending/receiving messengers, etc. But anyone who passes by would be able to stop and RP, chat with them, emote throwing tomatoes, whatever.
There are IC stocks, but to put ALL prisoners somewhere "public" would certainly lessen the RL penalty of limited RP.

I like this idea, especially for those being punished for minor or mundane crimes. However, based on the severity of what you have done the tower would make more IC sense, to include treason, murder and magery.Applesauce wrote:Maybe there could also be some way to have prisoners in a "public" or pseudo-public area so that they aren't limited to a scant handful of RP partners during incarceration? I also like the idea of opening the tower access up to more people. However, It feels like there should be some sort of automated log of those coming and going so as to aid in the investigation of any possible plots to free or aid the incarcerated.
This. Coded stocks or a reasonable facsimile really. Not sure if it's really feasible, but if there's like a series of "cages" in River Square that can prevent someone from leaving, giving/accepting items, sending/receiving messengers, etc. But anyone who passes by would be able to stop and RP, chat with them, emote throwing tomatoes, whatever.

Mages used to be put in isolated cell rooms, which was great for preventing evil collaboration, but crappy for being part of a roleplaying game. So the imms removed the separate rooms and put everyone in the Common Cells. Min/maxers and "winners" could do a lot to stop crime and magery, sure. But given people already complain about lack of conflict, I think we need to teach each other to risk losses here and there to keep things interesting. A lot of stuff makes "IC sense" but is really bad for roleplay, and I think we're all just trying to strike the right balance.Rhothrian wrote: I like this idea, especially for those being punished for minor or mundane crimes. Sometimes a big part of being a Reeve or Orderite is investigating "on the outside", so you might be actively working on a prisoner's case but from their limited perspective nothing is happening and they're stuck staring at a blank screen. As long as they can't give/get items, cast spells, attack or be attacked, it would be nice for even the worst baddies to get RP. You risk them telling secrets to passersby, but maybe there could be a mobprog that records the last 12 or 24 hours of spoken stuff (says and only the quote parts of emotes?) so someone could review it if they're worried about what the prisoners chat with folks about. Not to get SUPER complicated, but maybe spoken parts of hemote would have a chance of slipping under the guard's attention and not being logged

Anyway, in my opinion the game shouldn't be about efficiently overcoming another player's characters, it should be about writing an interesting story, enjoying your time, and helping others do the same. If you win everything, pretty soon you have nothing to do.

I'd also like some sort of magical/spell equivalent for mages and mundane equivalent in the Southside for thieves. :3So you guys know how in monopoly both jail and just visiting are on the same square?
I was wondering if something like that is code-wise feasible for TI. IE a low-security stockade where there's a gate in the room that you can't get past if it's not unlocked. Or, guess it would function like the pillory... dunno. Just thinking for minor crimes an RP-friendlier jail would be nice.
