Would it be possible for first targets to see the @eat message on food, too? Since it's suggesting my own character's behavior, I'd like to be able to work with it (or at least know what I'm ignoring in my emote).

Example:

>eat cookie
I see: This cookie is faaaaantastic.
Everyone else sees: Refined Lady devours her dessert in true Cookie Monster fashion. OM NOM NOM.

Agreed. I think the same applies to @taste vs custom eat predicates. For example, if you eat cookie in true cookie monster fashion, you don't actually see if your eat action went through, you only see the @taste.

I would personally like to see:

> eat <item>
the item's @eat message, if any
the item's @taste message, if any

> eat <item> <custom eat message>
my custom message (if the item has an @eat, it does NOT show to myself or the room)
the item's @taste message, if any

I don't know how close that is to how it works already, but I know at least some of it's missing =)
