Tragedies happen without warning, upsetting the established order and forcing
everyone into a new reality. The death of Benicio ab Mason during Magebane
can be considered one of those volatile tragedies. Little is known so far,
but it is said that a flying mage carried the Archbishop to the top of the
pillar at the Crossroads and forced him to try to balance himself. The
Archbishop eventually fell and died.
His last words came from the top of the pillar, "My martyrdom will help
strengthen the faith of the citizens of Lithmore."

It is not unheard of for mages to make themselves known on Magebane. The
time of year is notorious for the tainted to emerge and terrorize the
faithful, but not once in the past five years of Magebane has the city seen
the level of terror the tainted brought to Lithmore this year.
One might believe that the death of the Archbishop may have been all the
horrors Lithmore was in store for. It would be a gross overestimation of
just how evil mages are. His death was merely the beginning.
Several days later, while wielding sorceries most foul, a cloaked mage
imposed his will upon the Grand Inquisitor, forcing him to defend the mage
while he unleashed undead horrors in Church Square, after swearing to kill
everyone present. The mage's words do not bear repeating, for the forked
tongue of a tainted creature can speak naught but lies.
The Grand Inquisitor was not the only one ensorcelled, however; the Keeper of
the Seal was caught in the mage's wicked web as well.
That afternoon's terror ended with a squire of the Holy Order being gravely
injured while defending citizens from one of the mage's minions, one Charali
lass nearly being consumed by a vortex of flame and a second taken by the
mage himself so the mage could "Finish what Vaxin started."
The terror continued, however, for the mage returned with an accomplice and
commenced an attack upon one of Lithmore's citizens, nearly killing her in
the process. Were it not for the heroic actions of His Holy Honor Toroni de
Stonewall and the Lady Justiciar Rimilde von Rievirkrintz, she would not be
with us today.
Magebane ended with the gravest tragedy of all, however. As the injured and
rescued flooded into Madison Hospital and physicians rushed about their
healing tasks, none could ever have expected what was about to befall them.
At midnight on Novembris 6th, 370, several explosions rocked the Madison to
its very foundations. It is not clear what exploded, but it is clear it was
a tragedy not caused by mundane means. Many were killed and countless were
critically injured, among them the Grand Inquisitor, the Lady Justiciar and
the Magistrate.
Below, we have listed the names of those who cling to life with the sheer
force of their faith and the stubbornness of will. Let the prayers of
Lithmore go out to them, and to all the families of those who did not survive
the Madison Massacre.
+ His Holy Honor Toroni de Stonewall
+ Lady Justiciar Rimilde von Rievirkrintz
+ The Honorable Magistrate Hunapo le Marama
+ Lieutenant Jozafat Steenson
+ Page Merick Ironwall
+ Orderly Finnley Reiner
+ Chevalier Lyonie dul Acatsia
+ Tubori Citizen Fyuri Rynnya
+ Charali Citizen and Merchant Chief Secretary Silrie Ryden

each and every one.

Gossip of a public Yule feast spread through the city taverns and other
establishments. It is said that Tacitus von Kapnner and Drueta von Kapnner
are receiving men and women of all social stratums to his mansion at Yuletime
to celebrate the festivities. Guests will exchange gifts with each other,
and are requested to bring gift boxes to those they value the most. The
boxes should have written to whom they're intended, who's sending them and a
short 'best wishes' message. The other details as to what else will be at the
party are obscure. Some claim there will be a gladiators fight while other
claims that is false and that, instead, there will be speeches given to
certain esteemed guests.
(OOC) Date: August 27, 2016 after the OOC chat. It's a week after Yuletime
is ICly over, but this is the best date to work this out.

Yule Time looms closer and the citizens are trying to forget the horrors of
Magebane with thoughts of gifts and revelry. Unfortunately for them, ominous
gossip spreads through the taverns of Lithmore, news of red hands crowding
the Cathedral of St. Alewyn. It is said that after a particularly cold
night, a myriad of crimson hands covered the doors of the cathedral. There
was an inscription that read the following:
WE ARE HERE. WE ARE COMING FOR YOU. IT'S TIME TO STOP PLAYING GAMES. THE
WAR OF ALL UPON ALL HAS BEGUN.
What this means is subject of speculation and gossip. While some claim it's
just another attempt from the mages to frighten the community and shake the
faith of the Order's flock, the name Rubeus manus has been echoing in the
back of a very few, despite the Order's hard attempts to negate their
existence.
In the recent years, the front against magic has been going in a less than
desirable way for the Order of King Dav. They have been facing stronger
mages and, in cases, humiliated. Doubt is a silent seed waiting to grow
roots and rings of heresies are beginning to appear, teaching the heathen's
way to those doubtful enough to hear.

A Trivial Influence Event
Hunapo le Marama started his career working on the docks of Tubor. He came
to the Capital and worked his way up through the Reeves from a Clerk and
learnt the Queen's law. He rose through the ranks over a long career,
reaching the esteem position of Proconsul of Lithmore.
I have known the Honourable Hunapo le Marama for over five years. We have
fought at each other's side, worked together and faced many challenges.
Without hesitation, he puts himself at risk to protect this city. Through
his community involvement he has learnt the issues, the history and met many
of the people, forging strong relationships.
Hunapo le Marama has shown strong conviction, as both a leader and a team
player, skills valuable to the roll of Seneschal. I believe he will continue
to do Lithmore a great service and offer him my support.

In the wake of Poet Laudate Tanim op Brentwood's lengthy absence from the
Troubadours, the guild has chosen to raise Poet Knight Violet op Fournier to
the position. A bard with considerable pedigree, given her mother's prestige
and time in the Laudate's seat, Fournier has been running the guild in
Brentwood's stead for some time. To many within the guild, her promotion is
hardly a surprise.
For many bards, Fournier's new position brings the hope of stability to an
ever-changing guild. Well loved within the theatre and the city, only time
will tell if her leadership will be a success.

Early in Decembris 2, 370, several southsiders reported trails of blood
across the King's Concourse Road, first believed to be human blood until
later that evening when what varied reports agree was a demon entered the
Town Hall. While its visit was lengthy, it was first seen searching the
chambers -- it was an abominable creature with blackened pelt and two wings,
one of which appeared to be fractured.
What happened next is enshrouded in confusion by the storytelling of several
sources. Some claim that it found Toroni de Stonewall, the Grand Inquisitor,
and aimed to obtain his cloak. It began attacking one of his guards
demanding the cloak to be given because he wanted to feel the 'power of it, '
until he left the guard half-dead before it departed. This is when reports
turn into a confusing twist.
While earlier reports claim it was injured, after the attack those at the
Church Square saw the creature 'unscathed.' It began to fly and squeak,
though it suddenly landed on the top of the Cathedral to demand a page's
tunic. The page indeed submitted the tunic and the creature tried to don the
garment only to find it ripped in half, before flying to the top of the
cathedral. A few squeaks after, it was seen flying elsewhere.
Other reports have arrived from the forests of a large-eyed bat with broad
wings and a curly tail 'wearing a half-ripped acolyte tunic about its body'
flying around, scaring the populace, though since then it has not been seen
again.
