I’ve updated Chloe’s Character Profile with information about her psychological profile and pre-game background. I hope people enjoy that.

Alas, this blog will now languish, I think, as I’ve chosen to actually rename the character entirely once I pick out a suitable name. It’s been fun, and thanks again everyone! I hope you enjoyed any RP you had with me.

Oh, I’ve also added a log of Ariel and Chloe’s “shenanigans” the night of the Murder Mystery Masquerade – for anyone who wants to know what really happened. Thanks for the log donation as well as the fun, tpb Ariel!

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask spreads her hands, “Anyone else? If not, I declare-” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask points to a person wearing the heroic red fox mask, “You guilty of murdering the jester! Of which the only acceptable punishment is … merriment!”

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for enjoying our mystery. Please, the house is yours for the night. Enjoy yourselves.”

“A fox, a fox, a fox!” a person wearing the grinning impling mask chants, however because of the luxurious position is in he doesn’t stand to dance around a person wearing the heroic red fox mask. [a person wearing the grinning impling mask]

A person wearing the coamjar-smoking owl mask gives the Murder Mystery Clue Token to a person wearing the gilded nymph mask.

A person wearing the coamjar-smoking owl mask walks over to hand over her card and token to a person wearing the gilded nymph mask. “I don’t suppose we could dispense with the masks so we could see who’s company we’ve enjoyed this good night in?”

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask approaches a person wearing the heroic red fox mask on light feet, laughing. “See, I told you, the honor of foxes is very debatable!” he teasingly remarks.

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask nods cheerfully as she approaches a person wearing the heroic red fox mask, “Alas, it was you indeed.” She leans closer to a person wearing the heroic red fox mask and whispers, albeit not too quietly, “I daresay the coamjar smoking owl has had a bit too much.”

A person wearing the grinning impling mask grins, “Oh, but the masks are just -so- enjoyable..”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask glances at the arctic fox on the house symbol of the mantlepiece as she approaches a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask, leaving off a person wearing the heroic red fox mask’s side. She swipes a glass of wine from a passing servant as she does so, and asks a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask, “Would you care to join me to debate that very subject?”

“I think it is a little too soon to be unveiling..” a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask suggests to a person wearing the coamjar-smoking owl mask as she settles back into the couch next to a person wearing the grinning impling mask. [a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask]

A person wearing the ghost jester mask stops wavering and stands straight, “My murderer is found! I can rest in peace!” she cries out. Slowly she bends backwards, then makes a backflip. “You owe me a dance, foxie!” she tells a person wearing the heroic red fox mask, pointing at her ‘killer’.
She appears to be a grandmaster at performing.

“Debate? I -love- debating. I have an opinion on everything,” a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask assures a person wearing the gilded nymph mask lightly, bowing his head with a rustle of braids. “Even beautiful nymphs can’t tie my tongue.” [Ariel]

    look nymph
A person wearing the gilded nymph mask poses beside a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask, clearly amused by the similar state of extreme undress they share by Lithmorran standards.
Tall and willowy, this nymph wears the long curly black wig to cover
most of her modesty where the loincloth and other pieces fail, though the
Lord of the Springs only knows what she actually used to glue the pieces
    down.

Behind the mask, laughing black eyes are all that show, but her demeanor
implicates that this woman is likely the party’s hostess.
You are two hands taller than she is.

a spiral armband of twisted and braided golden silk
a heavy bracelet of medallions stamped with a family crest
    a dagger (a gilded sheath)
a scandalous golden breastplate secured by clinging vines
    a low-girded, floor-length loincloth embroidered in gold
a pair of knee-high leather sandals laced by gilded straps

“Don’t you like sharing your company with dragons and such things?” a person wearing the google-eyed dragon mask wonders deviously of a person wearing the coamjar-smoking owl mask. [a person wearing the google-eyed dragon mask]

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask certainly seems to have no intention of unveiling anymore of herself as she engages a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask, slipping her arm through his as she replies, “Oh, shall we see about that?” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask calls to a person wearing the ghost jester mask, “Do get the entertainment started, won’t you, my dear?”

You think to yourself, “She is really hardly wearing anything at all. Why did I dislike that idea so much originally?”

“But! Eventually. We must. Of course. For now, perhaps.. we should enjoy the food, the drinks. The food and maybe the company?” a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask [a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask]

You think to yourself, “It actually seems like a pretty great idea now!”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask begins to move north.

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask seems content to stroll along at a person wearing the gilded nymph mask’s side, arm-in-arm. “I suppose I can’t tar you with the same brush as your red cousin,” he points out laughingly. “No insult meant to all the fair foxes of the world!”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask draws a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask into the library, smiling, “I saw you sampled some of my sugar. Did you like it?” she asks warmly, gently releasing a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s arm after lightly running her hand down it and the back of his palm. “No, I suppose not. Some of us fair foxes are much nicer to have around than others.” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask purrs, much more cat- than fox-like.

“It tasted a little funny, I think. I swear I’ve tasted something like that before, but you know, I just can’t remember…” a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask explains to a person wearing the gilded nymph mask, sounding faintly bemused for a moment before cheer reasserts itself. “But this is such an entertaining party! I loved the game. I never have this much fun!” [Ariel]

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask offers, gesturing to the trailing shackles about a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s wrists, “If you like, I can show you some more fun. There’s more of the house to see, afterall… won’t you indulge your hostess?”

One could guess, from the ever so cheery and casual tone of a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s voice, that the smile behind that mask is entirely clueless. “Oh, yes! Go ahead and show me all of it.” [Ariel]

[Troubadour’s Guild] Ariel: Guys, if I don’t make it back, say that I was a brave (and extremely high) man.

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask beams a coy and secretive smile as she reaches down and grabs the trailing shackle-like cloth and begins to guide a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask westerly, “Oh, I will, I will,” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask promises to the clearly oblivious a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask.

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask unlocks the western door.

provide a cozy shelter within. Snow foxes scamper across the dark fields
of royal purple, interwoven with shiny silk. A vanity table of the same
wood stands proud, its mirror of actual polished glass surrounded by fairy
tale figures dancing and chasing one another. A huge walk-in closet
dominates the northern wall, painted with a sky scene of Vandago in pale
    blues and white.

    You have arrived.

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask closes the eastern door.

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask begins to lead a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask rather unmistakably towards the bed.

A rather surprised laugh escapes a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask as he’s led along by his shackles, the man glancing around. “Oh! Fun in the bedroom?” he wonders. “Oh, that’s a really nice bed that you have there…” [Ariel]

Turning to face a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask as she leads him towards the bed, a person wearing the gilded nymph mask replies coyly, “Oh yes, it is, isn’t it? You should have a closer look. It’s real silk – why, it would be entirely in-character to lie down and test the softness, wouldn’t it? Not many people have a bed like this, though I’m sure you’ve experienced one or two… maybe you could give me pointers on how to make it even more… special.” [a person wearing the gilded nymph mask]

[Action: a person wearing the gilded nymph mask stands beside a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask, holding his shackles, next to the bed.]

“Oh, all sorts of beds!” a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask slides into the bed, stretching out with a deep, appreciative sigh of pure hedonism as he sprawls on the covers. “I’ve been in so many beds. But the nicest ones, you know… they always have far more pillows than anyone would ever need…” [Ariel]

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask chuckles softly and begins to tie a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s shackles to the bedframe with reasonably solid sailor knots. “Oh, you’ll have to tell me more. Is that comfortable?” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask wonders.

[Action: a person wearing the gilded nymph mask is in the process of tying a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask to the bed with his costume’s shackles.]

The shackles are leather, but the construction of each link – flexible, hollow tubes – makes it fairly easy to tie them despite the stiffness and strength of the material. a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask doesn’t even seem to realize that he’s being tied down, as he’s staring dreamily at the ceiling instead. “Big beds and small beds, soft beds and hard beds… but extra pillows always add just a little bit of luxury… what? Oh, sure, I’m fine, I’m very comfortable…” [Ariel]

You think to yourself, “I wonder why she’s so curious about making her bed better?”

You think to yourself, “It feels pretty nice to me already!”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask seems extremely pleased at a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s reply, encouraged even, “Oh, superb!” she giggles in delight as she moves to take advantage of the shackles on a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s legs. “You know, I had wondered what gave you inspiration for such a superb costume,” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask comments, “I adore it. It’s simply -perfect-. I’m soo glad you came,” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask purrs, tossing her head, and causing the black curls to tumble wildly.

“Oh, you’re too kind! It’s the fairy tale, you know, the forever-dreaming prince! The wicked enchantress covets his Kingdom so she casts a spell on him to trap him in his dreams, and he doesn’t escape until the dream-maiden sacrifices herself for him… say, what are you doing down there?” a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask ceases his prattling to squint down at a person wearing the gilded nymph mask. [Ariel]

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask looks up from where she’s working, “Just ensuring I’m getting the story right. Trapped in your dreams, are you, my prince?” she asks sweetly as she ties the last knot, “I do so like the possibility of enacting the role of a dream-maiden…” and a person wearing the gilded nymph mask crawls slinkily onto the foot of the bed, crouching at a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s feet as she glides a hand up his leg, “I’ll set you free in ways you’ve never felt before…”

[Action: a person wearing the gilded nymph mask is crouched over a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask at the foot of the bed.]

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s brows contort, hidden under the mask. He inhales a quick, sharp breath as some semblance of thought seems to pierce his drug-addled haze. Too bad it didn’t happen -before- he was tied to the bed. “Wait… you’re talking about… ohhh no, I don’t do that anymore…”

You think to yourself, “Although she’s really attractive and that feels really good – no, there’s a good reason not to do this!”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask murmurs, “Do what?” as she crawls all the way up to lay her body along side a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s, hands gliding gently and teasingly over cloth-clad flesh, then lifts a finger to a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s lips to stifle any protest. “Dream of nymphs? I promise, my prince, you won’t regret me. Just a kiss…”

[Action: a person wearing the gilded nymph mask lies in the bed, still dressed in costume, along a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s side.]

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask hesitates for a moment, shifting to face a person wearing the gilded nymph mask a little more directly. “Well,” he allows uncertainly, frame subtly angling toward her, “a kiss couldn’t be so bad… though, I’m pretty sure… not supposed to…”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask’s lips whisper softly over a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s, tenderly and sweet. She tastes of the acidic sugar and mint, clearly recently chewed before the party. “Oh, who cares about what we’re supposed to do?” She asks, “We’re not ourselves tonight. That’s why these parties are such fun. Put your troubles away, my prince. I don’t know who you are, and frankly – I don’t care to know.” And at that, a person wearing the gilded nymph mask pushes herself up, climbing astride the prince’s still-dressed form with her own, moving just so to excite him and herself. It’s clear from the tenor of her breath and the way she moves that she’s freely enjoying all that the contact with a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s body has to offer, and has no shame what-so-ever.

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask groans low in his throat, back arching upward to increase the contact between his body and a person wearing the gilded nymph mask’s as he instinctively joins in the rhythm. His own breathing speeds up, and after a while he reaches to try and grasp a person wearing the gilded nymph mask’s hips firmly in his hands – only to hit the limit of the short chains still a decent way away. His breath abruptly seems to stop in his throat for a moment, and when it resumes, its speed has taken on a certain sharpness. “No – wait – I’m not – this isn’t right-”

You think to yourself, “No, no, no, no, I AM not a whore, this isn’t right, I’m not, it’s MY CHOICE, I’m tied down why am I tied down – ”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask seals a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s protests with her mouth, hands reaching behind her back to unlace the a scandalous golden breastplate secured by clinging vines and pull it free. She holds it off to the side of the bed, bare breasts round and soft, dropping it to the floor, and murmurs, “Do you like what you see, my sweet prince?”

[Action: a person wearing the gilded nymph mask stradles a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask on the bed, her torso bare of everything but the silky black ringlets.]

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask leans into the kiss for half a second, but then turns his head firmly to the side, shaking it wildly against the pillow. His braids are sprawled all over, shimmering in the light. “No!” he denies fiercely, even though he’s not actually looking at a person wearing the gilded nymph mask. “No, you’re – beautiful, but I’m not – I don’t do this anymore-”

Halting in her ministrations, hurt and bewilderment enters the black eyes beyind the mask, “No? Anymore? What are you talking about?” She seems frozen, still solid and warm against a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask, but unable to decide what to do, “Are you serious?” [Player]

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask is breathing hard still, closing his eyes where his head is turned sideways against the pillow. “I’m not a toy. I’m not,” he mumbles thickly. “I don’t -do- this anymore!” His voice rises rapidly in volume at the end of that statement, though it remains shy of a shout.

“You think I think you’re a -toy-?! I don’t think that at all!” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask’s voice does raise a notch higher than a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s, “I didn’t trick you in here, you came of your own volition!” a person wearing the gilded nymph mask snaps, climbing off a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask and grabbing her breastplate as she accuses him, “Which one of us is the -toy-?!” Uh oh, tears have started to run down a person wearing the gilded nymph mask’s cheeks, beneath the mask, though the flush might be from more than anger. [a person wearing the gilded nymph mask]

[Action: a person wearing the gilded nymph mask stands beside the bed, dressing hurriedly into her costume.]

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask gets a scandalous golden breastplate secured by clinging vines.

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask pulls against his bonds, a first, experimental motion; the leather and wood are solid enough that they don’t really give under the attempt. Voice sharpening with what sounds like true, desperate panic, he cries, “Let me out! Let me out!” And, as if promptly trying to make that more difficult, he begins to struggle in earnest as a person wearing the gilded nymph mask moves, thrashing as he tries to yank a limb free.

A loud knock sounds from the eastern door.

To the east a woman yells, “Mistress Nymph, pardon, but the chef says we are running low on those little egg goodies. He asks if it’s acceptable to use young hen’s eggs instead of quail? ”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask wears a scandalous golden breastplate secured by clinging vines on her torso.

    You yell, “LET ME OUT!”

Somehow, a person wearing the gilded nymph mask manages to retain her balance as she disengages completely from a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask, and stalks towards the door. She finishes fastening the bodice and yanks the door open. [a person wearing the gilded nymph mask]

To the east a woman yells, “Um … is that a yes or no on the hen’s eggs?”

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask unlocks the eastern door.

A person wearing the gilded nymph mask begins to move east.
A person wearing the gilded nymph mask leaves east, stalking out in a fit of pique.

The eastern door closes from the other side with a slam.

“LET ME OUT!” the voice repeats, roughened by sheer desperation and panic. [You (RPYell)]

The eastern door is opened from the other side.
A person wearing the ghost jester mask arrives from the east with bouncing steps.
A person wearing the ghost jester mask slows to a halt.

A person wearing the ghost jester mask closes the eastern door.

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask seems to be downright out of his mind at the moment, with how violently he’s thrashing against the bonds that tie him to the bed. a person wearing the ghost jester mask’s entry isn’t even openly acknowledged.

A person wearing the ghost jester mask closes the door behind herself, stopping to look at a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask trashing in the bed. She pauses only for a moment before ushering forth to the side of the bed. She pulls the ghost jester mask off her face. “Hey, Orbie! Hey! It’s me! If ya didn’t know! What’s going on?!”

A person wearing the ghost jester mask removes the ghost jester mask from her face.
Trouble stops using the ghost jester mask.

“Let me out!” a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask shouts raggedly up at Trouble, pausing in his flailing for just a moment. His chest is heaving with the speed of his breaths. He looks a little disheveled, though all of his clothing is still on. [Ariel]

You think to yourself, “Let me out, let me out, let me out!”

To the east a woman yells, “Prince darling! You sure you wouldn’t like more company in there?”

    You yell, “LET ME OUT!”

Trouble jerks into action at a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s words. She goes to work on his ties. She starts by leaning over him to get to the most furthermost tied arm.

Trouble yells, “Just dreams and ghosts in here! ”

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask flinches away from the touch, visibly, as if trying to avoid the slightest contact; but he has the presence of mind to lie still and let himself be untied, even as he gasps for air.

Having untied one arm, she straightens her back to get to work on a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s other arm. “Orbie” she says softly. “It’s just me. I just have ‘ta untie ya here. I … don’t think she tried to hurt you, you know …” [Player]

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask is at least silent for a couple moments, which may or may not be an improvement. The moment his second hand is untied, he sits bolt upright and reaches into his boot. Out comes a knife, despite the party’s no-weapon policy, and he starts sawing away at one of the chains. “I didn’t want… I didn’t realize… and then I couldn’t escape…” he mumbles breathlessly.

    draw knife
    You pull out your dagger.

You think to yourself, “It’s… it’s okay. It’s okay.”

You think to yourself, “Just got to get out of here and it will be okay.”

You think to yourself, “Got to get out, get out, get out – no! Calm down. It’s okay.”

Trouble tries to help a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask with the restraint around his other boot, all the while keeping an eye on the knife he’s wielding. She tries to not touch him more than the operation requires. “You are soon free now” she says, soothingly. “Um, why don’t you put away that very sharp, jester-puncturing knife and let me do that? I’ve already died once this eve, I hope not to have to do it again.”

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask manages to sever the chain pretty quickly; at Trouble’s words, he obediently slides the knife into his boot. “I’m okay,” he states, though his rough voice gives the lie to it. “I’m okay. Just have to get out of here. Tell her – sorry. No – no insult meant. I just need to get out of here.”

You tuck your dagger in your belt.
You conceal a common Lithmorran eating knife with a scant wooden handle from others’ notice.

Trouble looks at a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask for a long moment, her face hard to read. Then she finally says. “Alright, Orbie. All right.” Shs straightens and holds out her hand, somewhat hesitantly. “Come then. I’ll walk ya out. The Dreamy prince just had too much of the dream, right? Lemme do the talking. Most of the guests are off stuffing their bellies anyhow.” [Player]

Trouble wears the ghost jester mask over her face.

“No, I have to go-” The moment the untying is done, a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask bolts. He uncurls in a single motion and outright runs for the exit at full speed. [Ariel]

A person wearing the ghost jester mask has no hope of stopping orban’s considerably larger frame by pure force, but she makes an attempt. Being closer to the door she simply stands before it, hands outstretched to block the closed door. “Master op Orban!” she cries. “Think! What do you think it would do to yer reputation or the lady’s if you just stormed out of her bedroom like this!” It’s about as much she managest to get out before he’s upon her.

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask seems to be, unfortunately, still panicked enough that logic is not going to work. Seeing an obstacle, he moves it in the quickest way possible- he tries to simply sweep a person wearing the ghost jester mask off her feet and do a reverse over-the-threshold sort of carry.

You carefully lift a person wearing the ghost jester mask.

A person wearing the ghost jester mask yelps as she’s easily picked up off the ground. [Player]

    You have arrived.

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask bolts through the bedroom door at a dead run, his eyes wide with panic under the mask. His clothing is disheveled and his breathing rough. Curiously enough, he’s outright carrying a person wearing the ghost jester mask bridal-style.

“The … um, dreamy prince sweeps away with the ghostly fool of his dreams!” a person wearing the ghost jester mask gasps from a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s arms, making a vain but valiant attempt at waving helplessly to those they pass. [Player]

With the sound of the door opening to the West, a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask draws back from a person wearing the heroic red fox mask. Though her hand stays at his hip, the other comes away from around his neck. Her cheeks, or at least what can be seen of them, flushed, and she looks more than a little disoriented. She looks towards a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask and a person wearing the ghost jester mask, somewhat .. puzzled. “What–?” [a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask]

A person wearing the heroic red fox mask turns slowly, a little look of disorientation crossing him also. As he sees a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask and a person wearing the ghost jester mask, his own skim, pale beneath the mask begind to deepen red, “Wha– What?” he asks suddenly, “What is going on?”

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask halts for just a second to stare uncomprehendingly at a person wearing the pure white butterfly mask and a person wearing the heroic red fox mask as if -they’re- the odd ones in this situation, but then promptly takes off again without another word.

beneath heavy couches of polished wood interspersed with tables of carved

polished ebony shield displays a white snow fox carved from precious ivory,
illuminated by a baroque candle chandelier in the center of the room. Art
and statues also enjoy the light, softening the appearance of corners and
    walls.

(This room has been richly decorated in the theme of the evening. Blue
sheets criss-cross the high ceiling, maybe signifying sky. The freshly
added wall tapestries portray scenes from a cheerful meadow, populated
with a range of imaginary creatues and scenes from classical faery
tales. Man servants are everywhere, ready refill glasses or answer to
    the guest’s every whim.)

A person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask doesn’t really pause until he’s out in the open again, breathing very hard now from the combination of the exertion and whatever spurred him on to flip out so much in the first place. He simply stands there in silence, gulping down air.

A person wearing the ghost jester mask lies still in a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s arms, looking up at him through the slits in her mask. “This is all very romantic orbie” she says after a while. “I didn’t know you had it in you.” [Player]

After a moment, she too, starts to laugh. [Player]

“I am… such a mess,” a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask gasps out between the peals of his laughter. “Everything’s so screwed up in my head, Trouble.” He doesn’t seem inclined to let a person wearing the ghost jester mask go. “Why can’t I deal with it like you do?” [Ariel]

Held against a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask’s chest, the two literally laugh into a rythm together. “Oh, if you dealt with things like I do, you’d not have carried me out into the night in your arms!” she gasps. “You are such a wonderful fellow Orbie! You may be a mess, but you are a lovely mess! And you have a great laughter too, not messy at all.”

“A lovely mess,” a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask declares, which intensifies the laughter all over again. “How do I get them to -stop-, Trouble?” [Ariel]

“Hugging the Jester is always a safe bet” a person wearing the ghost jester mask assures a person wearing the forever-dreaming prince mask sagely through her own giggles, pressed as she is against his chest. “Should be done often and regularly. Solves most messes I hear. You are doing a great job so far.” (fix for quotes) [a person wearing the ghost jester mask]

Chloe von Dmitreva? She’s a deviant, rumor-mongering crime lord. I heard it from the Tenebrae himself!

  • March 18, 2012 /  OOC Stuff

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Here is the blog of a character, Chloe von Dmitreva, that was created off the cuff to be a replacement for Anastaci. Anastaci was, to put it simply, a nasty piece of work. Chloe was intended to be more of a harmless ditz with a carnal streak – funny that she never successfully seduced anyone, even with the title of Countess! In any case, she was fiercely loyal to Romana and the Order, even when the Order was vicious to her (I’ll dig up some earlier things).

For those who never solved the mystery, Chloe is the one who instigated the bloodshed in Amhurst and set up Angold to take the fall (poor Angold). I’ll see about digging up some older desc notes on that…

For this wonderful RP experience, please allow me to offer my deepest thanks to: Romana, Tobin, Julea, Remi, Edvard, Yayinne, Ariel, and Marisa. You truly made Chloe’s stay in Lithmore great, and I deeply enjoyed almost every bit of it (until the end when OOC stuff got back to me – I’ll try to avoid that if I create a new alt).

    And without further ado…

    To : Tobin Written: Tue Mar 6 03:31:54 2012

To the Hand of His Majesty,
    King Tobin ab Samael
To the Hands of the Knights Lithmorran,
My Lady Earl Marshall, My Lord Grand Master, and the Court ab Sevoi
To the Hands of The Reeves,
My Lord Justicar and Lord Proconsul

Please forgive me this letter, but I must admit that I fear for my life,
and so I am returning to Vandago for a time, perhaps indefinitely.
However, before I go, I would care to make the following statements, though
I’m fairly certain it will draw the very source of my fears to my door.

I have been a foolish woman, I must admit this to you, and I hope to seek
your forgiveness as peers as well as to warn you of what I fear may be
disaster for Lithmore. If your eyes are not to weary, I beg you to read
on, and I shall tell my story from the beginning.

In my earliest days in Lithmore, Queen Gemara ab Harmon died, throwing
Lithmore into chaos. During the aftermath, I became a secret supporter of
His Majesty, Tobin ab Samael, but did not openly declare for him with the
intent of seeing what would happen and how best I could move for my
family’s advantage. As you likely know, I was nothing more than an heiress
of my family’s business ventures, and I came here to Lithmore to look for
my sister, Romana. I did not know she was an Inquisitor, but I was pleased
    to discover it.

Well, personalities being as they are, Anschel of Amhurst approached me to
ask for my support. I brushed him off, which earned the ire of a Miss
Myranda le Argent, whom was well known for her temper. This is where I
made my first mistake, and I’ve no doubt I’ll rue it forever. Miss le
Argent, you see, was holding a party on her ship. Out of spite, or perhaps
for my own amusement, I contacted the Brotherhood of Common goods and
offered them a sizable deposit to have some of their members crash the
event, and hopefully, provide as amusing diversion to guests. I should
never have done so, as it set the stage for events to come.

The Brotherhood took the money, but never showed. Instead, I livened it up
myself by hiring the Town Crier to claim the ship was on fire. Meanwhile,
the Count of Amhurst offered me Amhurst itself should I support him to
become king. I told Tobin of the Count’s offering, and how I felt it would
be a betrayal to my family to continue to support him given this. His
Majesty immediately agreed to match Anschel’s offer, and I publically
declared the Heritage Building Society for him.

At about the same time, Myranda le Argent attempted to blackmail me for my
contacting the Brotherhood. I assumed instantly that she was a member of
the Brotherhood, and I wrote the Tenebrae explaining that I should never
have aught to do with the Brotherhood again.

Some time ago, the Holy Order discovered that the Tenebrae was a mage. Alas,
I was never a privy to matters of The Inquisition. However, my sister warned
me to stay away from the Brotherhood, having been aware of my earlier
    antics.

So, I suppose at this time, I should tell you how it is that I became the
patron of Julea Sanguine, the Sapiente of the Brotherhood of Common goods.

I’ve become a patron of several people of Lithmore, seeking to ingratiate
myself and become friends with the people of the city. I am a foreigner,
so it seemed that if I were to be accepted, I should be of use. I visited
the Theater and saw the Jester perform, so I offered her a role with my
house. Much the same occurred with Julea Sanguine when I was bathing at
the Vavardi Bathhouse with the Jester and Herazade op Persela.

Julea entered the baths, and we all spoke amicably. I cannot remember
precisely how it occurred, but I do know that I asked Julea if she would be
able to assist me with posting posters around Lithmore. She suggested that
I could trust her for more, but I indicated that I didn’t require her for
anything, though as the Jester was not the typical gossipy Troubadour, I
would appreciate it if she could keep me abreast of rumors. She agreed,
and thus began her employment with myself.

I was pleased with her service when she put out the posters to advertise my
party, but I daresay we did not spend much time together. The matters of
the Brotherhood and Remi LeBou were beyond me, however, and I was unaware
at that time that my comments to Romana around the subject were feeding
into a greater investigation. Meanwhile, however, my relationship with
Julea Sanguine progressed in comfort. Though she hadn’t provided me any
information on the rumors I’d asked for, she seemed loyal enough and fun to
    talk to. I was content.

Matters seemed to change around the time I saw her when I encountered
Amdair ab Lassider on his first night of return. I did not know him, so
when he arrived asking strange questions, I sent for Julea to fetch the
authorities and bring them to deal with the matter, and also to provide me
with protection, should it be needed. She came with His Holiness, Remi
    LeBou, and Ariel op Orban.

Count ab Lassider left with His Holiness, and I sent Julea to protect
the latter given that I knew he was no soldier, which the Count appeared to
be. Soon after, Ariel op Orban left as well, leaving Remi LeBou and myself
alone. He told me how he felt I was foolish as Julea was no fighter and
could not assist His Holiness if there was a fight. To whit, I heard
rumors go about that I had threatened LeBou for that statement, but I tell
you now, ’tis not true. I never threatened him. However, during our
moment of privacy, I made a comment about Daravi magic, which I had
believed could explained Amdair’s strange return. He lifted his hands and
gained the most horrific of expressions – I had thought he was going to
cast magic upon me – and then he made some poor joke about mages having no
more oomph than farts. I reported this to my sister, of course, but that
was my absolute last contact with Remi LeBou, and it was weeks before he
was arrested. Certainly, I do not believe his arrest was based upon that,
though I do believe with all my heart that it was a frightening experience,
and that LeBou did intend me danger for my prejudice against magic.

Soon thereafter (and honestly, it may have been soon before), Julea
approached me and asked me if I had heard the news. I asked her what she
was speaking of, stating that I had not. She told me she was Sapiente of
the thieves and asked me if I should like to ‘join her family.’ Now, I must
confess that when she hinted at the matter, she had provided enough
information for me to guess, but I warned her off as I did not really want
to know – if I did, according to His Holiness’ words, I would be obligated
to turn her in to the Holy Order, my very own sister. Needless to say, I
told her that I was not interested in joining the Brotherhood due to my
previous falling out with the Tenebrae as well as my understanding that the
    Tenebrae was a mage.

After a night of restless sleep, unsure of which way to turn, I made peace
with the Lord of the Springs and contacted my sister. I told her that
Julea claimed to be the Sapiente, and that she had ‘lied about leaving the
Brotherhood’, which I had not known she was a part of until she told me
about her role as Sapiente. Romana asked me to, carefully, find out who
the Tenebrae was to assist her investigation. Naturally, I began to probe,
and sent my results to Romana. I believe Julea did not know exactly what I
was doing at first, but surely she did towards the end as her stories
changed. I believe that she must have discovered that I exercised my
loyalty to my sister, and this angered her.

In any case, perhaps a few days after Julea told me she was Sapiente, I
received a letter from Tenebrae. He stated that he had not spoken to me in
some time, and said that I was to do everything he said, or someone would
die at my party. I immediately informed the Reeves. In retrospect, this
blackmailing attempt likely came as the result of my refusal to join. In
any case, my Lord Justiciar wisely noted that whereas there was a threat,
there were no actual demands, so I dug for them, writing a letter of
    capitulation.

I also went to Julea and presented the letter of blackmail, demanding
she tell me who the Tenebrae was. She did refuse, and so instead of press
her further, I asked her to negotiate him to leave me in peace. She
claimed to do so, and indeed, I received another letter (all three of these
events were within mere days of one another) from the Tenebrae saying that
he listens to Julea, and thus there would be a truce, and my party would be
    unmolested.

At that time, Remi LeBou was arrested under suspicion of being Tenebrae,
and hence a mage. I know little of the investigation because, regardless
of what people may believe, my sister had no more contact with me during
that time. She is a busy woman and I have my own affairs. I understand
from meeting with her later that she had evidence turned over from many
varying parties, but I believe that I may be being blamed for LeBou’s death
by the Brotherhood as a whole.

I do know I received further letters during Remi’s incarceration, though
one I put down to simply my being late in collecting my mail and the other
had an oddity about its signature. In any case, Julea later confessed to me
that the latter mail was a forgery by one of the Tenebrae’s men.

Here is where things become strange. Julea had been arrested at my party,
but due to my own intoxication and other events that occurred, I retired
early and remained secluded for some days to recover. I learned only later
that she had been arrested, about the same time as I received the letters
from Tenebrae. Knowing nothing of what was going on, I assumed that
Julea’s arrest was linked to Remi LeBou’s as she was Sapiente. Also, I
suppose I should have confessed earlier that I attempted to negotiate
Julea’s safety with my sister in trying to provide her information
regarding the Tenebrae, so I became angry with Romana. I approached His
Holiness and attempted to get him to release Julea into my custody. I
offered to take responsibility for her behavior and sign papers to that
effect, but he turned me aside saying it was Romana’s decision, but it was,
in his eyes, a perversion of justice.

So, I went to Romana and demanded she release Julea as I felt there was no
reason to hold her – she had, afterall, provided Romana information on the
Tenebrae. I was unaware that Julea’s arrest wasn’t Romana’s doing, but was
being carried out on behalf of His Majesty, and there were treason charges
    as well.

Needless to say, the next time I saw Julea she was in the presence of
Deviah ab Dominus, wearing the ring of His Holiness – whom she had once
told me loved her. I was surprised to see her free, but pleased.
Afterall, was my retainer not returned to me, and mostly safe? But she
pointed to her foot where Romana had injured her during her Review, and
seemingly deeply angry, spat hatred. Ab Dominus told me that he had never
had to restort to torture during one of -his- Reviews. I said that I did
not think that it was appropriate for him, as a High Inquisitor, to
question the Grand Inquisitor’s methods. At this point, he told me that he
used to be the Grand Inquisitor. I stated that if he held that against my
sister, he ought not, as the decision was that of the Cardinal. He showed
me his blade, inscribed with the word ‘Truth’ and said that ‘the truth will
win out’. I felt this line of discussion was not healthy, so made to take
my leave, and His Eminence said that he ‘hoped the truth would find me in
    the future.’

So I wrote his Holiness and said that I did not know why I am being
threatened, but I recognise a threat when I hear one. His Holiness wrote
me back stating that I have nothing to fear, His Eminence is merely
    ‘eager’.

I know this letter has been long, but I have only two more points to make.
Firstly, Romana came to me and said that she had quit the office of Grand
Inquisitor because of the lack of support from the Cardinal in her doing
the Lord of the Spring’s work. She felt he forced her to release Sanguine,
and every time someone spoke to her, they demanded evidence, which she
provided, but not only did the Cardinal not support her, he actually asked
her to re-review Sanguine because the case was ‘close to his heart’ and
during the event, began to question her himself. She too intends to leave
Lithmore for Vandago as she feels the Lord’s work has been subverted here.
She also warned me of Julea Sanguine, saying that during the Review, the
girl lied – she claimed she had never slept with LeBou, which was one of
the many parallels I had given her, and further that she claimed during the
review that I raped Ariel op Orban (a gross and hateful exaggeration of a
mutually embarrassing, drunken encounter in which no one and nothing was
injured but pride) and that I made up evidence against His Eminence that
got him removed from the role of Grand Inquisitor – which I had absolutely
nothing to do with at all; I didn’t even know his name until he introduced
himself to me escorting Miss Sanguine that day.

I believe that the Brotherhood blames me for the death of Remi LeBou, who I
am not certain if he was or was not Tenebrae, though I believe the latter
as I know my sister would not make up evidence. Also, I have actually
heard of the strange events around his burning, which signifies to me that,
at the very minimum, my sister was correct that he was a mage.

Julea Sanguine claims that the Knights Lithmorran confiscated her keys, and
thus that they have the key to my home. She even bashed down the front
door to prove it, claiming that she had lost the one I provided her as a
retainer. I believe she still has it, and intends to use it to gain entry
when I do not expect it and see me murdered in revenge for the death of
Remi LeBou and the injury my sister did to her during her review – she had
threatened in private to kill Jei for slicing her face – she is unforgiving
on these matters. Perhaps I am insane, but I am genuinely fearful of her.
My sister claimed she was poison, ruining whatever she touches. I have not
taken her from my payroll as I’m afraid to alert her that I’m packing my
    estate and running.

In any case, I suppose whether or not the knights returned my keys to
her is easy enough to verify?

Your Majesty, I apologize for this long letter and my immediate absence. I
had attempted to meet with you to explain these things, but I understand
you were busy – I hope it is not because you are angered towards me.

In final conclusion, I swear this entire letter to be the truth of all
matters as well as I can recall them, the Lord of the Springs be my
    witness.

    Sincerely,
    Chloe von Dmitreva

To the Hand of His Majesty, King Tobin ab Samael:

    Your Majesty,

I have many things on my mind of late, and I hope that you will receive my
letter in kindness despite your recent strife with my sister. Firstly, as
per our discussion, I believe I have soothed her ruffled feathers. You
will no longer find her subverting your activities – I hope you will
consider removing your subversion of hers as well, given that it affects
myself, and I am your loyal subject.

In speaking of loyalty, I do wish to take a moment and confess a mistake,
as well as offer an apology. When Julea Sanguine was arrested, I assumed
it was to do with the arrest of Remi LeBou. You see, I had discovered that
Julea was Sapiente, and loyalty to my sister and the Holy Order ensured
that I could not be silent on the matter, however so I wished it. Romana
asked me to discover as much as I could about the Tenebrae through Julea,
but as Julea was my retainer, I agreed upon the condition that Julea would
be safe. When Julea was arrested, knowing nothing of Your Majesty’s hand,
I believed Romana had changed her mind.

I attempted to force Julea’s release, and failing to do so, slipped her a
letter that stated I would assist her to escape. I did not know that in
doing so, I was interfering with your wishes. Thus, I wish to apologize to
you, Your Majesty, and hope that you hold no ill will towards me.

Thank you for your moment of attention.

    Sincerely,
    Chloe

    My Lady,

Yes, though I thought speaking to His Majesty would be needed in this, it
seems that the Lord Proconsul was able to, thankfully, have the treason
charges dropped. Afterwards, I was able to obtain a dropping of the
possession suspicion as well. Dav be thanked Justice and Truth came to
    pass.

Now, to the matter of Deviah Dominus, please forgive His Eminence’s actions
in this case. He’s a good man and we all have been through a lot in the
Order with these recent cases. They weigh on us, but we know we have done
the right thing. Still, such things can try a man’s resolve. Though this
does not excuse what you’ve seen, it offers some explanation. I trust
Archbishop Dominus. This is why he was given the station he was.

I’ll again make my offer for a spot of tea. You likely have a very busy
schedule, as do I, but such chances at a little rest and a chance to better
know those of my flock are things I rarely get and look forward to.

In the meantime, do receive my blessing on you and your good work.

    In Faith,

    Your Holiness,

My thoughts are scattered as I write this letter to you, and I hope you
hold my words in a kind light.

I am ever so pleased that Your Holiness’ efforts to free Miss Julea
Sanguine were successful. Dare I ask how it happened? I know we planned
to see His Majesty together and seek to drop suit, but obviously that did
not occur… No matter however, as the results were quite satisfactory.

However, there is a matter that troubles me. Please understand, I seek no
restitution, nor activity on my behalf – rather, I would simply let you
know what occurred this afternoon. I came upon Deviah ab Dominus assisting
Miss Sanguine down the street – this is how I learned she was finally free.
Well, she was, to be blunt, upset and angered that my sister had injured
her, and made a point of saying that it was because of me. She had
previously told me that His Majesty arrested her on charges of being a
Siren. I’ve heard of such things, but do not believe in them. Regardless,
I fail to see what that has to do with me. In any case, I commented that I
suppose Romana must have felt obligated to enact her office, and that I
understand Reviews can become quite invasive. I expressed that I was happy
that Julea’s case did not appear to be as extreme as others I’ve knowledge
    of.

At this point, His Eminence chimed in saying that -his- Reviews rarely
required torture. I commented that it tis hardly seemly for a High
Inquisitor to question the Grand Inquisitor’s work, and he told me that he
had been the Grand Inquisitor before. I said that if he held ire towards
my sister for the loss of that position, I felt it was better taken up with
you as than my sister. He then told me that he held no ire towards his
fellow priests, but the truth would win out. He then took out his blade,
being sure to display to me that the word ‘Truth’ was engraved into the
    weapon.

This in and of itself did not concern me, though I have to admit I found it
somewhat venial. However, I do know my manners and said naught at all to
provoke him, even when he pressed the question as to why he would find ire
with Romana. I must admit, I pretended to ‘accidentally’ bump into a
passerby to avoid needing to answer His Eminence in a manner that would
provoke him, and I bid him farewell. This is when he told me that he hopes
“that the Truth shall find me in my future endeavors.”

I will be frank, your Eminence. It is possible that he thought himself
merely playing clever. In fact, ’tis most likely, and I know that he will
also say I read too much into words. However, I can think of nothing at
all that I could have done to deserve a threat, and I recognize a threat
when I hear one. I am mildly offended, but such things can pass. However,
I daresay that this man shows poorly for The Holy Order.

    Dear Romana,

It’s come to my attention that Julea was arrested at the order of His
Majesty. His Holiness claims that she’s been put to The Inquisition.

I beg you to remember your promise that Julea would not be arrested so long
as she was in good stead with myself, and her information assisted in the
apprehension of the Tenebrae. I believe my side of this agreement has been
fulfilled, and I plead with you to uphold yours. I know His Majesty is a
powerful man, and I know that were I in your shoes, I would capitulate to
to His Majesty, afterall, Julea is in theory, no one.

However, thus far, she has been a loyal retainer. His Majesty has turned
his interests directly against ours, and I see no reason we would assist
him until he ceases his subversion, and that is when I am thinking kindly
on him for he had Julea arrested without a word to me, her patron.

Can you tell me aught about the charges of treason and possession? His
Holiness knew more of the latter, but seemed stunningly unaware of the
    reasons for the former.

I am preparing to publicly approach His Majesty with His Holiness and
others to challenge the case of Treason with His Majesty. I beg you to
consider what this might look like if she is not exonerated of possession
    – or exorcised. Perhaps an exorcism can be performed? In this manner, the
Holy Order retains its authority and has done its righteous duty…

I digress, my sister. Please, consider my words and burn this letter.

    Sincerely,
    Chloe

    Your Holiness,

Thank you kindly for your letter. I have provided my sister the support
that is required as a dutiful Davite, and I understand that the charges
against Remi LeBou are extreme, but I beg of you, please intercede and
spare the life of my retainer, Miss Julea Sanguine.

I know it is a grave sin for me to desire such, but I believe Julea to be
innocent with all of my heart. She has been betrayed by those close to
her, but for this, she does not deserve death.

My sister is a holy woman, Your Holiness. She will do things by the
letter, and I know she would be right if her investigations led her to
believe it was appropriate to cleanse Julea, but surely there is some
intercession that could be made on her behalf with the Lord of the Springs?

Please, your Holiness, I beg you.

    My Lady,

Your sister, Her Holy Honour, spoke to me about your involvement in the
inquisitions and Reviews of some of our more recent cases.

I’d like to extend my personal thanks for any good work on your part. The
Church always appreciates those who extend a hand to help us in our
venerable mission. Perhaps, some time, we could get the chance to sit down
and meet eachother properly. I’m afraid I’ve neglected to get to know you
in the past and based on the what I’ve heard from my Grand Inquisitor and
from the little I’ve seen, we should work to correct that.

Also, I attended your party.. Very enjoyable. I am sorry that I could not
extend the exemption from Cardinal Red, but I had my reasons which, in my
mind were good enough. Regardless, it was certainly an interesting night
for the little of it I was able to stay.

My Lord Justiciar and Your Holy Honor,

Please forgive me that I could not find the time to write you sooner, but I
have received the following letters. As promised, I forward their contents
    to you:

    ========== ENCLOSED ===========
[Insert two letters from “Tenebrae” – the first is real, the 2nd a
“forgery by one of his men” said Julea. Their contents can be found below.]
    ========== END LETTERS ===========

I should like to note that I suspect the latter to be a forgery – all
letters that I have ever received from the Tenebrae have been
signed off with “Shadows be with you,” but the last. Still, I
feel it is only appropriate that I forward these on to you for your
consideration. However, if it is a forgery, the author did know the
contents of my final correspondence to the Tenebrae.

    Master op Orban,

I reluctantly accept your long-winded apology. It is surely best for us
both to keep such matters quiet – as quiet as possible in a city that loves

    Countess von Dmitreva,

I had been informed you were unaware of my identity at the party, which I
hadn’t realized. My memory of the night is somewhat unclear, considering
that I had consumed some item of food that turned out to be drugged.

My confession to my lady occurred while I was still under the effects of
whatever strange drugs I unwittingly consumed at your party, when she saw
the bruises on my wrists from my attempts to free myself and questioned me
as to what happened. Regrettably, I have always been quite susceptible to
    the effects of drugs.

Rest assured, my lady, that had I not been in an altered state of mind I
would not have entered your bedroom in the first place. As I’ve stated
before, you are a very attractive woman, but I am obedient to the laws and
words of Dav and seek to avoid sinful behavior. Certainly were I inclined
to such dalliances, I would have been honored by your interest.

No embarrassment was intended, but I am sure we can both agree that the
best course of action in this situation is – as my Lady suggested, not
threatened – letting it be simply forgotten.

I don’t even know where to begin with this.

Not only, does it seem, I am to forgive a man for leading me on and
embarassing me at my own party, then kindly informing his mistress of the
whole affair so that she may attempt to pressure me into submission, but
I’m to do all of this without even an apology?

Goodness, you people must think I’m a saint.

The Lady dul Damassande was referring to the unfortunate incident that

consider I have done you some sort of wrong, and attempt to pursue some
form of retribution; as I am her retainer, she of course wishes to ensure
that the matter be laid peacefully and discreetly to rest.

Romana came to Chloe and told her how Julea had turned against her
during the Review of Faith, claiming she raped Ariel, is into narcotics
(which is true, and not illegal as far as Chloe knows, but apparently it
was raised in the negative), and called Chloe a liar – recanting her
testimonies about the Tenebrae that she told Chloe.

Romana and Chloe decided amongst themselves that they believe Benedictus is
sleeping with Julea, and that Benedictus is a weak leader of the Holy
Order. Chloe asked Romana to drop her subversion of Tobin and will
approach Tobin to seek his aide.

Chloe suggested that, as Julea was Sapiente whilst Tenebrae was a known
mage, she is most definitely a heretic. Romana said that it is possible
that she has enough support within the Knights to see Julea quietly
executed. Chloe knows of the plan, but has agreed to stay out of it and
let Romana do her work. For her part, she has quietly removed her support
of Julea, but intends not to upset the ‘rattlesnake’ so to speak by
confronting her. She believes Julea is treacherous enough that she will
bring about her own downfall… And maybe she already has.
    Sun Mar 4 04:14:26 2012

Chloe notes that Julea wears a pewter ring bearing the Cardinal’s seal.
    Sat Mar 3 06:31:56 2012

Chloe, once again, is feeling threatened. (I have to admit it OOCly
bugs me because I don’t think she did anything at all to warrant a threat),
    but here it is:

Deviah Domnius smiles wryly at Chloe. “I bear no ire to my fellow priests.
I know that truth will always prevail.” He holds out bardiche. “For truth
is far more deadly to sinners.”

Deviah Domnius shows you a damascus bardiche with a leather wrapped
cherrywood shaft. White leather wraps around the cherrywood shaft, which
has been inlaid with rosegold, burnished and varnished. The gold inlay
    spells a single word: Truth.

Deviah Domnius smiles enigmatically at Chloe. “Aside, I said I resigned.
Why would I bear any ire towards my replacement?”

Deviah Domnius wiggles his fingers at Chloe. “Dav guide your hand, lady.
I do hope that truth finds you in your persuits.”

Anyway, I figure this is minor. However, out of the RP, Chloe ascertained
    the following:

    – Deviah appears to blame Romana for his being displaced as Grand
Inquisitor. He claims he resigned, but he was quite challenging to Chloe
and blatantly spoke against Romana’s methods for burning Julea’s foot,
which to Chloe implies speaking against the Grand Inquisitor. She
basically told him that she felt it was inappropriate for a High Inquisitor
to speak thus about the Grand Inquisitor.

    – Deviah is a flashy soul with more flair than substance.
    Sat Mar 3 03:38:50 2012

Chloe is upset. Everything seems to be going wrong.

Marisa wrote her a letter that truly hurt her feelings about Ariel. She
doesn’t feel she took any advantage of him – she’s absolutely certain that
she was reasonably transparent about why she was leading him to her
bedroom, and he seemed more than willing, right up to the point of dry
humping! And now Lady Damassande is sending her subtle threats? Ariel
clearly can’t keep his mouth shut about indescretions either. Afterall,
they were all masked, so there was no need for anyone, even Chloe, to have
to ‘acknowledge’ who anyone else is.

She’s decided to pretend she has no idea who the Dreaming Prince was as she
doubts it’s likely anyone would question the tailor as to who was who, and
further, whether or not Chloe knew.

Following up on this, the Tenebrae’s sent her another threatening letter,
and it angers and frightens her. What will it take to be rid of this man?

    Church Square
[Pleasant, cloudless, slight breeze from the east, dawn]
The grand facade of the Lithmorran cathedral dominates the square,
providing a stained-glass, gothic opulence to the space below. Laid in an
artful pattern, red and white bricks converge in alternating bands towards
a central fixture, a splendid fountain. Off to the southwest, in the
tended lawn, stands a statue easily nine feet tall. Below it rests a
bench, obscuring the engravings in the statue’s base. At each of the four
corners of this square stands a tall stone lamp to light the square at
    night.

(Water has been splashed onto the ground about the fountain. The water that remains in the fountain is dirtied, with bits of debris floating about as well.)

[ Exits: north east south west ]
A baroque fountain interrupts the center of the square. (center)
The square’s public board stands beneath a protective wood shingle roof. (northeastern corner)
    Julea is here. [App: 3]
An unassuming man, with light blue eyes sits on the lip of a Baroque Fountain, twiddling his thumbs aimlessly. [App: 2]
    You have arrived.

    [RPxp: none] [System: 6:03AM] [HP:perfect MV:enervated P:walk](cloaked)(Diremote)

Chloe wanders into the square, lost in thought.

    Action set to:
    Chloe walks down the street.

“Yeah..” Julea says simply to an unassuming man, with light blue eyes as she eyes her foot. She adjusts a leather-gripped practice polearm topped with a dummy head that she uses for a makeshift crutch. “Thanks again for looking after the Kukri.” [Julea]

You move towards a public notice board.
    You have reached your target.

Julea dips her head forward to Chloe as she spots her passing. “My Lady Dmitreva, I am sorry for earlier. I should not of taken it out on you.”

Nodding, “Oh, well… It wasn’t entirely selfless.” an unassuming man, with light blue eyes states, “I’m afraid I wouldn’t of had much of a problem holding onto it if you didn’t come back for it.” He chuckles lightly. [an unassuming man, with light blue eyes]

“Ahh so it was a gamble that didn’t play off. I see how it is, you were kinda hoping to see me burn then?” Julea extends a hand down to touch where a long bladed steel kukri with a carved ivory and onyx hilt is sheathed at her right thigh. “I am pretty attached to her. Feel.. safer with her there.” [Julea]

Wandering to the board, Chloe begins to read until she hears Julea’s voice and turns her head to address her quietly, “You’ve been through an ordeal, Jules. I wouldn’t be surprised or offended if it was quite terrible. However, dare I ask if you intend to continue your employ with me?” [Chloe]

“My Lady, I would like to, but I would ask that you please grant me a couple of weeks off to recover.” Julea dips her head forward, fingers indicating her bandaged right foot. “And, until I can walk a little more easily, I am little good to you anyways.” [Julea]

“Oh, no of course not. I don’t like burning, at all.” an unassuming man, with light blue eyes amends to Julea. “Anyway, if you were burned, who else could teach me Tubori?” [an unassuming man, with light blue eyes]

Chloe nods to Julea, “Yes, I understand. Of course, take the time that you need.”

“I had to watch a friend burn today. It was.. hard.” Julea says, her eyes close for the briefest of moments and there is a hint of emotion. She is quick to brush it off though with a passing of her hand over the corner of her eyes and a grimace. “Thank you My Lady. I intend to get very drunk for a few days or maybe weeks.” [Julea]

You think to yourself, “Can I trust her? *wonder* What did she say to Romana that made her injure her so?”

Chloe’s head perks, “Burn? Who was burned today?” Chloe has clearly spent some time away from the gossips recently.

“Captain Remi. And then, right after, Count Sevoi drew his blade on the Grand Inquisitar and claimed it was a plot to drive a wedge between the church and the crown.” Julea says, her fingers anxiously tugging at one of her curls. “It was messy.” [Julea]

Chloe pales, “Is Romana … is she dead?” Tears immediately well up in Chloe’s eyes, and she covers her mouth with her right hand, fingers loose and separated with horror.

An unassuming man, with light blue eyes perks up at the subject brought up by Julea, “Oh.. I ran into the tail end of that… The Vicar General seemed a bit off his rocker..”

“No, Count Sevoi was arrested and put in a cell. Romana was released. It seems he was.. enchanted by a mage.” Julea explains, nodding at an unassuming man, with light blue eyes’s words. “He was. He was even pleased to see me. That shows how insane he was.” [Julea]

Chloe rubs at her eyes, her opposite hand dipping into her greatcoat and pulling out the simple white handkerchief, which she dabs to her eyes. It’s crumpled as if it’s seen a bit of use lately, “I see,” Chloe sniffs in a long, drawn out manner as she dabs her eyes.

“What’s to happen with his child, while he is in prison?” an unassuming man, with light blue eyes asks quietly, following Chloe’s statement. [an unassuming man, with light blue eyes]

“I .. I will find him. And see to him of course. I mean, he can take care of himself, he’s only a couple of years younger than me. But ..” Julea presses her lips together, teeth nipping at the lower one for a second. “Still. I need to make sure he’s okay. They are close.” [Julea]

Chloe licks her lips and suggests to Julea, “You say you want to spend some time drunk? I’ve got some better things on hand, if you like.”

    look julea
Inky black hair with a hint of reddish highlights spills from the crown of this
slender woman’s head to just above the midway point of her back in uneven
lengths. Her fringe falls from high on her head and cuts low and on an angle
over her eyes, sharp and almost obscuring the stormy blue depths of her irises.
Outlined in smudged black liner, and with long tangled black lashes, her eyes
are an intense sapphire and draw attention, consequently it would be easy to
miss the rest of her face: high cheekbones adorned with a splattering of
dun-coloured freckles and lips with a faint hint of colour.

A recent thin scar curves down from her hair line towards her right eye.

Standing at just over five and a half feet tall, this Tubori woman’s frame is
toned, limbs long and slender in proportion to her size and a narrow waist
that exaggerates the curve of her hips. Her skin is paler than normal for a
Tubori girl and hints at mixed birth.

There is a single scar an inch in width at the left side of her mid-section,
a large red claw tattoo on her back and a few very old flogging scars on her
right shoulder. At the nape of her neck, a new tattoo has been carved into her
skin, showing a stylised black wolf curled around a cat. On her right thigh
another tattoo, that of a lion, wraps around with claws outstretched.
You are about the same height.

    Julea is using:
a black leather satchel that fastens with a steel clasp
an inky black leather cuff engraved with an intricate rose
alternating red and black glass beads strung on a cord
a pair of fingerless black leather gloves that end at wrist
a pewter ring stamped with the Cardinal’s Seal
a dagger (sheathed at the thigh)
    the Book of Penances
a skin-tight midnight black leather vest with front lacing
a long sable cotton cloak, emblazoned with the Holy Chalice
a sturdy steel buckled black belt with a hanging coinpurse
a fitted pair of front laced, midnight black leather pants
a pair of calf-high, black leather riding boots

An unassuming man, with light blue eyes chuckles lightly, “Any sugar cubes on hand?” an unassuming man, with light blue eyes states to Chloe. Then more seriously, to Julea, “I’m sure that he’s getting along fine.”

Chloe’s lip curls up slightly on the right, “Amongst other things, yes.”

You think to yourself, “I wonder where, how, and why she wears the Cardinal’s ring?”

“I admit, a couple of cubes, right now, I would enjoy. How bout you Edvard, care to play too?” Julea asks with a mischevious quirk of her brow. [Julea]

[Chloe remembers an unassuming man, with light blue eyes as Edvard.]

“Oh, I wouldn’t mind sitting in.” Edvard answers easily, before adding wryly, “Not sure how much my Fiance would approve. Well, what you don’t know, doesn’t hurt you, does it?” [Edvard]

The church bells ring six times, announcing the hour of prime.

“Well, you know already how I feel about -that- whole sticky situation” Julea says to Edvard, her left foot lightly kicking against the side of his foot. To Chloe she nods. “Let us retire back to your place and enjoy ourselves some. Before I was hauled off by the lovely Count, Edvard, myself and a few others were playing a fun game. I believe it is time to pick up where we left off.” [Julea]

Edvard chuckles, “That doesn’t sound too bad to me.” He turns to speak more directly to Julea, “You know, he never did come back, to see what we were up to, after he went off with you.”

“He was a little busy strip searching me.” Julea says plainly in reply to Edvard. [Julea]

Chloe beckons both Julea and Edvard, asking, “Who is your fiance… Edvard, was it?” Chloe seems to have only heard Edvard’s name in passing.

    Julea now follows you.

    The Dmitreva Estate Gardens
    [Pleasant, cloudless, morning]
Surrounded by a great stone wall topped with pointed spearheads, a wide
gate with filigree designs displays the sigil of a silver Snow Fox, the
entrance to an expansive garden. From the gate to the stone monstrosity of
a Vandagan-style mansion, an elegant path of white river stones cuts a
double-wide path, surrounded on either side by sculpted hedges and
artistically arranged grottos. Here and there, benches offer peaceful
repose to visitors, scented sweetly with flowers and herbs.

(The gardens are wet with drizzle, and the clouds overhead make the sky
dark and foreboding. There’s a pile of debris from the recent party
gathered together in a small area, yet to be finally disposed of, though
the rest of the gardens have been returned to their pristine state by the
    estate staff. )

beneath heavy couches of polished wood interspersed with tables of carved
stone. Above a central hearth with a high mantel and gold-plated frame, a
polished ebony shield displays a white snow fox carved from precious ivory,
illuminated by a baroque candle chandelier in the center of the room. Art
and statues also enjoy the light, softening the appearance of corners and

A simply rectangular room with decorative cornices high above, an ebony
table runs the length of its entirety. Silver inlay accents thick white
candles, each two feet high, on silver plates, providing diners a warm
light to see by in the evenings. The ceiling, painted with whimsical
nature scenes of Vandago countryside, grasps the chain of a massive silver
chandelier. Tall windows thrice the height of a man allow light to pass

    Julea slows to a halt.

Chloe gestures expansively, “Just enough hemproot for our personal enjoyment, it looks like. Have you ever tried it?”

You get a colorful Farin waterpipe of blown glass.

“So, a month ago, grinning like a cat, you sat down between us on the couch.” Julea says, as she rests a hand on Chloe’s shoulder, using her for support she sets a leather-gripped practice polearm topped with a dummy head aside. “And now? Still grinning?” [Julea]

Edvard chuckles, looking about the room, then adding, “I distinctly remember sandwiching myself between two rather scantily clad women on a couch, about a month ago.”

Edvard gets a thick cabbage stew stirred with potatoes and lean venison from a heavy wooden table covered with a long tablecloth.

Julea plucks up one of a sprig of hemproot and squeezes it with the skill of someone who knows what she is doing. She rubs it into the bareskin of her forearm. “Just.. what I need.”

Julea gets a sprig of hemproot.
Julea rubs an herb across her skin.

Chloe wanders over to the table, picking up some bread and popping it into her mouth. “I swear, people come to my parties for the free food and drugs – somewhat less so for the company, usually. It’s nice to know you enjoyed yourselves, however.”

You squeeze the herb and apply the juices to your skin.
For a brief instant, such weariness fills your limbs that you have never known.

Stomach grumbling somewhat, Edvard grabs up a thick cabbage stew stirred with potatoes and lean venison from the table, and glancing into it he mumbles to himself, “Doesn’t look too bad.” Then, following after Julea’s lead, he picks up some of the hemproot, and rather less skillfully then Julea, squeezes it and rubs the pulp onto himself. [Edvard]

Edvard gets a sprig of hemproot.
Edvard rubs an herb across his skin.

“My sister says you should always keep hemproot on hand. It’ll dull a mage’s casting,” Chloe comments as she rubs the drug in herself, sighing happily at the instant effects. [Chloe]

“Edvard was a lot more fun when he was masked. I am sorely disappointed in him.” Julea complains with a mock-glare in his direction. To Chloe she says. “It was a fantastic night you know. The company as well as the food and drugs on offer [Julea]

“Until the Count arrested me.” Julea grunts. [Julea]

Chloe gives Julea a small, pleased smile, though it disappears in a brief wash of bitterness, “Ended with you being arrested and Marisa threatening me.” She begins to slip out of her greatcoat, hand digging into the pockets after it slides off her shoulders.

Dictated by the Lady Chancellor dul Damassande:

    Lady Garod,

I understand that there was a small matter of a misunderstanding between
you and my bard, Ariel op Orban. It would of course be best if this
misunderstanding could be considered fully rectified at this point and put
behind everyone. I see no reason that it needs have happened.

Should further clarification be required, it can be made quite explicitly

You show Julea a piece of mail.
You show Edvard a piece of mail.

“Dear, you need to pick your men more carefully. Even I would not of dared touch Ari. That was never going to end well.” Julea says, as she eyes the piece of mail. “He is, hers you know. And he, is very loyal. To a fault. Trust me, I tested those waters ages ago.” [Julea]

Mock Cackling, Edvard pulls the grinning impling mask out to show the two, “Oh? I’ve still got it.” He grins, then looking at the mail, frowns. [Edvard]

Chloe pulls several letters from her greatcoat, many of them appearing unsorted.

Chloe’s brows raise, “When you say ‘hers’, you don’t mean… ooo, how intriguing.”

“As in they are deeply in love, and only have eyes for each other. He was even offered the position as Seneschal and turned it down by her request.” Julea says, there is a devilish look to her eyes as she takes up the pure white butterfly mask. “If you wished to.. use that information, feel free.” [Julea]

Chloe sighs, shaking her head, “He apologized, so it’s of no real use to me. What I need to do is find a way to stop the Tenebrae from blackmailing me, the bastard.”

“I am confident Edvard here will not breathe a word of what happens tonight.” Julea says, approaching him with a hop-like step, she sweeps an arm around his neck casually and lightly bites (should he not stop it) the side of his ear. To Chloe she says. “I will see what I can do about that. He often listens to me, as you know.” [Julea]

Quietly speaking, Edvard begins to state, “You know.. I just left the –” His words are cut short by Julea’s antics, which he happily goes along with, “Now, why would I ever speak of this?” [Edvard]

“He sent me two more letters whilst you were in jail, retracting his agreement of truce,” Chloe moves to settle down on a chair, turning it to face Julea and Edvard and arranging herself just so, in a sort of relaxed, sinuous pose. “I’ll tell you, I forwarded them to my sister and the Reeves.” [Chloe]

Chloe seems oblivious, and not the slightest bit concerned, about the antics going on in her dining room, albeit she does sound a little more preoccupied with other matters of the more political nature.

“Show me?” Julea asks of Chloe as she wraps an arm around Edvard’s waist from behind and instead bites the side of his throat, nose nudging against his neck. “I am curious as to why he would do such a thing.” [Julea]

Julea questions, “And even with those letters, they still burned the Captain?”

Chloe nods, “Very well,” and begins to go through the letters she’d pulled from her greatcoat, licking a thumb and separating them.

My dear. You can have your little party. I will not complicate it.

You are lucky that one we both happen to have an interest in the one
that stayed my hand. And it is because of her that I have no interest
in sharing the bed of a whore. But others in the fold might. I will
    advise them of your interest.

No matter. I will stay down in my portion of the city and you in yours.
There is no need for a war between us. Truce.

Edvard loosely drapes an arm about Julea’s waist, nipping at the nape of her neck, “Now, assuming that I am not terribly incorrect, but it seems that some of the information that has been floating about is rather wrong..”

As Chloe finds the letters in question, she unfurls them and holds them up for Julea to read, “I suppose they did, though I’m not privy to my sister’s council on such matters.” [Chloe]

You show Julea a piece of mail.
You show Julea a piece of mail.

Edvard glances curiously over to the mail, which is a rather awkward contortion from his current position.

Chloe comments quietly, “Albeit, I think the second is a forgery. You see, I’ve actually had quite a bit of correspondence with the Tenebrae over the past year or two. He’s always signed it ‘Shadows be with you,’. He didn’t for the last one. But of course, that’s a minor matter. It does make direct reference to a comment I made about sharing my bed.”

Julea tilts her head to the side, exposing the curve of her throat and in doing so, no doubt Edvard has a view of the newly inked tattoo at the nape of her neck. “What information is that dear?” She asks as she reads over the two letters. “Ahh. Very interesting. Well. I will have a chat with him and I will see what I can work out. The second is, yes. That is one of his men.”

You show Edvard a piece of mail.
You show Edvard a piece of mail.

Chloe chuckles, “Yes, I did think it was an odd taunt to ‘keep it quiet’ given my past performance.”

Chloe frowns a bit, and says, “I thought you’d want it passed on, however, so I did.” Then she turns her attention to look out the window.

“I stayed his hand at your party did I not? He will listen to me.” Julea hums thoughtfully with Chloe’s words. “It might not of even been one of his men, perhaps someone else altogether. I will find out.” [Julea]

Chloe shakes her head, “Please, don’t trouble yourself, Jules. I don’t need to stir that pot anymore. You received my letter through the Cardinal?” Chloe asks rather suddenly, looking back to Julea.

Edvard’s gaze does wander briefly over the exposed section of the newly inked tattoo, though he chooses to not comment on it for the time being. Then speaking more directly to Chloe, “I’m afraid that I have been at a bit of a loss, for it seems that you have known my name, yet I still have managed to miss yours.” He asks this question quietly, knowing that the current line of conversation is of much more important matters.

“Chloe von Dmitreva,” Chloe replies absently to Edvard, waving her fingertips vaguely as a matter of introduction. [Chloe]

“Edvard, this is my employer, Countess Chloe von Dmitreva,” Julea says, continuing on the introduction once Chloe introduces herself. She keeps her arms tangled about Edvard but for the moment, her lips stray away from his throat, instead her eyes watch Chloe. “I did, thank you. I wanted to walk out of their with charges dropped. Your sister nearly saw me to the pyre, the Cardinal stayed her hand a the last minute.” [Julea]

I am preparing to publically approach His Majesty with His Holiness and
others to challenge the case of Treason with His Majesty. I beg you to
consider what this might look like if she is not exhonorated of possession
    – or exorcised. Perhaps an exorcism can be performed? In this manner, the
Holy Order retains its authority and has done its righteous duty…

I digress, my sister. Please, consider my words and burn this letter.

    Sincerely,

    Chloe

Edvard’s eyebrow raises at this, “I do think that I have a good deal of catching up to do.. Why would Marisa want you to burn on the pyre?”

“The Cardinal didn’t stay her hand, he hasn’t the spine to stay the maid from mopping the floor,” Chloe snorts, offering up yet another letter to Julea to review, “As to my letter – good. Now you have something on me. Maybe you’ll trust me still after all of this mess.” Chloe rises and gestures to both Edvard and Julea, “Please, enjoy the house. I think I’m in need of rest.” [Chloe]

You show Julea a piece of mail. (Written in Vandagan)

“I cannot read that…”Julea says as she passes her eyes over the letter, her arm coming away from Edvard briefly as she takes one step forward towards Chloe. “I heard the Cardinal say it to her. Are you saying he did not, or would not of?” [Julea]

Chloe says squarely to Julea, “I arrived several days ago and attempted to collect you. His Holiness told me frankly that it was Romana’s decision if you would burn or not, and that he was pleading with her. He refused to allow me to take you even though I offered to sign papers attesting to my responsibility for your release and offering my left hand as collateral. He was very explicit that it was Romana’s decision, so I told him I’d take care of Roe’s opinion on the matter, and I did.” Chloe’s gaze slips to Edvard as she begins to fold the letter up, “I’m afraid I’ve gone far enough for our dear friend this evening, however.” Chloe gives Edvard a slight nod and a brief, ironic smile.

Edvard lips quirk up at Chloe’s remark, and nods slightly in return.

“The Cardinal is still young, he is unsure of himself. He is a good man.” Julea says, defending him as she places a hand on Edvard’s shoulder for support. Her right foot, as always, held aloft from the ground. “We will, talk on this more later. Tonight is my first out. And I intend to do a bit of forgetting about all tha tmess.” [Julea]

“I never said he wasn’t a good man,” Chloe smiles gently, “I said he didn’t change Romana’s mind. Good men are often not the equal of political ones. Now then, enjoy your evening. And you too-” Chloe smiles to Edvard. [Chloe]

Chloe moves towards the door to head deeper into the house.

Julea inclines her head to Chloe, and turns more towards Edvard, whispering a few quiet words near his ear.

    You begin to move west.

“I’ve got all of the magic I need in two and a half feet of steel.”

I just want to take a moment to say thank you to Julea for enriching my game play, and everyone else’s for that matter. It’s a shame that she died, and I hope her player comes back to play one day.

Julea’s player did a lot for TI – she’s responsible for our website, the blogs, and even really, for Chloe running the Murder Mystery Masquerade, which everyone seemed to enjoy. She sure brought a lot of drama and fun to everyone’s game, and freely gave us ideas from her own game, Dark Isles.

On a personal level, I’ve lost characters before, and I remember it being horrible. These days those deaths don’t bother me remotely, but I know for a fact that there’s often a very real sense of grief that we have when a character dies. They’re a part of our psychology, afterall, and we can only meet them again in new worlds or stories we write instead of directly through play in their ‘homeworld’ so to speak.

Anyway, if you have the chance to read this – we’ll miss you, Julea.
