Ideas we've discussed and decided not to implement.

Could we get teach/learn capped for guild skills at rank 36 unless a person actually learning the skill belongs to the guild? I figure circumventing joining a guild and still being able to learn skills past the guild skill cap of rank 36 defeats the purpose of having guild skills at all.

It's pretty hard to find somebody who will actually teach you above 36 when you're not in the guild. I don't think this tends to be a problem, in any practical sense. You literally have to get EVERY rank above 36 via teaching, no LBu possible.

I'm generally for realism in all things, so I don't really like this, but I see the point. However, doesn't the lack of a cap provide more RP? I.E. fighting for control over your guild's knowledge and trades.

I feel like this is in direct response to the writ thing. If you're worried about this, raise the price of writs or restrict them. I don't think it's applicable across the board for all guilds.

People can't learn through use for those skills already, so there is a steep handicap. Further, if you find out who in your guild is teaching them, they can have IC consequences for it. Should just be dealt with IC.

Alas, no. We left the 'get a guild person to teach you' caveat out on purpose. Sorry!
