A group for 1-5 sounds reasonable, but I definitely wouldn't add individual adjectives for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. I also don't think we need to complicate this with 14 different adjectives, either.

0 - Nonexistent
1-5 - Modest
6-10 - Moderate
11-20 - Respectable
21-30 - Significant
31-40 - Impressive
41+ - Extraordinary

If I were concerned about communicating something specific in that 1-5 range, I might say something like: "I have a modest amount of influence I can lend to your endeavor, My Lady. I can devote four man hours toward your project." or "Yes, of course, My Lord. I have a modest amount of influence I can direct toward the investigation. I will send three of my most promising recruits to assist you."

If we don't differentiate the levels between 1 and 4 then people will still ask OOCly "how much influence do you need."

I think this is being way over-complicated. WAY.

If people know what they're doing, they'll include how much they need in a quick osay, and be done with it. I don't think that code needs to be changed to override a few quick osays, because everyone would have to be typing 'score' or referencing the helpfile to figure out what those phrases mean anyway. OR, they'd be asking, "Wait, what does that mean", or "How many do you need?" anyway, because they forget what the specific phrases mean.

City metrics are done once every two weeks. This happens... once every two weeks? If it were a daily occurrence, I could see why it might be a bigger situation, but as it is, I think a mountain is currently being made out of a mole hill.

An easy fix to that problem with 500 adjectives is just editing:
influence request <emote>
To:
influence request amount <emote>
And have it just put right at the end how many IP you are asking for. Easy peasy.

The big assumption here is that the request/exchange is happening during active RP. It's not always.

Same thing in response to Kitty's statement above. We still need scales, though I agree they shouldn't need to be too complicated.

Thing is, we do have scales. They were just never updated and brought in line with the way the system currently works.

I don't think we need to be so sure at an OOC level that we're getting/sending the exact, precise amount of influence.

If there really is a concern, 'influence <name> <excess> <reason>' could already give back the extra.

Niamh, based off this, can you draw up a spec and/or ask another staff member to if you don't have the capacity? Thanks!
