A Comfortable Room
[Perfect]

Temi is here.
Norrig is here.
Steven is here.[P]
[IAW] Gabriel is here.
Augustino is here.
Alexis is here.
Lelei is here.
Evani is here.
Empena is here.
Onreon is here.
Maura is here.
Sikod is here.
Troy is here.
Lorrent is here.[P]
Vlora is here.
Arlow is here.[P]
Orik is slowly being eaten by a pile of gloopy brown mud.
Kinaed is here.
Azarial is here.[P]

Kinaed questions, "Today's Agenda is:

- Staff Updates
- Player Heartbeat
- Player Topics

Is there anything anyone would like to add to the agenda to make certain we discuss it today?"

Evani states, "I'm also eating so if slow responses, sorry"

Evani claims, "It's chicken alphrato today, y'all."

Temi states to Gabriel, "Unfortunately, I wasn't able to add the app- mod. It added a warmup time before enacting."

Kinaed muses, "No one has any topics for today?"

Temi exclaims to Kinaed, "Well, we can talk more about my stuff then!"

Kinaed smiles at Temi.

Kinaed nods.

Kinaed says, "Okay, cool"

Maura moves suddenly, breaking from her hiding spot.

Maura says, "I feel like I had something, but for the life of me I can't remember what i was."

Lorrent says, "I think I had something. But I don't remember it. So."

Kinaed states, "If anyone comes up with anything during the chat, just send me a tell to get added to the roster."

Kinaed states, "In the meantime, I'll kick off Staff Updates."

Kinaed states, "Last week, I did a bit of recommend list queue processing, a couple of policy investigations, upset a few people by being policy, and managed to cover some 90% of Staff Talking points with staff."

Kinaed says, "A result of that, I made some work for myself."

Steven states, "Upset people :("

Azarial raises an eyebrow.

Steven claims, "I'm just picturing Kinaed as being policy. Like, shes some sort of superhero with a big P on the costume."

Temi nods in agreement with Steven.

Orik says, "And a club."

Orik states, "A big club"

Azarial states, "The poicy stick in one hand, theme stick in the other"

Lelei says, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."

Kinaed states, "I am now specing a lore command that people can just submit lore for QP directly while standing in a room. I'll be making a new 'ennoble' like command that displays which nobles are in residence in the city based on a player's Lore skill. I'll also be updating the guildleaders command to change how things are displayed a bit based on a character's city lore skill. I am working on a new policy specification so we can stop holding policy information on a flat board and start to get a sense for our statistics, trends, and a holistic view of someone in the policy system instead of my trying to remember."

Kinaed wonders, "Any questions for me before we move on?"

Maura wonders, "I presume the lore submittal command would be like recommend, where it has to be approved by staff?"

Temi nods at Maura.

Kinaed nods at Maura.

Orik claims, "Oh, more lore use, nice"

Kinaed says, "We'll have to add some information, like at what skill level it would be seen at, for example."

Lorrent says, "That's awesome."

Kinaed declaims, "Okay, Azarial - you're up!"

Steven claims, "I'll admit itll be nice to see guildleaders not being used against guildleaders."

Azarial states, "A few bugs, aome typos. msotly chasing things down and dealing with the holiday whee."

Maura arches brow at Steven "What?"

Steven says, "At least, not with some skill backing it."

Kinaed states, "One of the biggest changes is how newbie warnings work."

Kinaed states, "One of the biggest changes is how newbie warnings work."

Kinaed finishes abruptly, "Players - do NOT send a tell to a cyan character to newbie warn them, please use the 'warn <player> command'"

Lelei claims, "Yeah, that'd be nice."

Kinaed states, "It's logged, it requires a reason, and it has inoffensive, ideally non-threatening text that is sent to the player along with the reason for the warning."

Evani stops stuffing her face long enough to agree.

Maura is still confused by Steven's comment, but turns attention back to Kinaed and group "Can osay's still be used... oh never mind, ya just answered my question."

Orik likes that idea.

Empena asks, "What sort of holistic view of folks are we looking to develop?"

Kinaed states, "That looks like the main non-bug fix work."

Temi claims to Maura, "Kin mentioned she's looking at adjusting the guildleaders command output based on city lore skill."

Kinaed states, "I think Empena's asking about the new policy system."

Maura nods to Temi "Got that... just don't understand how said command in it's current state is being used against guildleaders."

Augustino asks, "Will getting too many warnings have a penalty? I mean I was informed via tell after I made my character that he didn't look vandagan. I had forgotten to read the helpfile detailing how they look. Would something like that count as a warning?"

Temi claims to Maura, "Ahh."

Temi nods.

Kinaed states, "Basically, in that instance, if I've given 10 warnings to a player about crossover, I should know that when handling a crossover case rather than having to review a bunch of flat files."

Kinaed claims to Augustino, "Nah."

Kinaed claims, "It's more record keeping and statistics."

Maura claims to Kinaed, "That will be handy."

Troy claims, "We're all going to get a file"

Temi says, "Warnings are for the 'hey, your behavior is going to have consequences, just making sure you're aware of that'"

Kinaed questions to Temi, "You're up, I think? :)"

Norrig eyes around slowly. Then nods to Temi.

Augustino claims, "Alright! Thank you for clearing that up."

Maura wonders, "So if for example I see a newbie having trouble with a command, I can still use osay or tell to assist instead of the warning command?"

Temi says, "Okay! Right. So, based on our staff talking points I'm working on some ideas to balance out metrics between different guilds, so that will be my current project beyond RPA things."

Temi nods at Maura.

Kinaed states to Maura, "Yes, but if you attack a new player, for example, please have a warning on file."

Steven states to Temi, "Orly."

Temi says, "More details on that after we've had some more hashing time."

Maura thumbs up "Makes a ton more sense now."

Temi says, "And also... I got the plot revamp spec approved."

Augustino muses, "I am not sure if its already in or not. But can the actions of certain guildleaders have a stronger affect on certain metrics? Like Reeves affecting Lawfulness? Physicians affecting Health or what have you?"

Temi says to Augustino, "No"

Augustino says, "Okay. I was just curious."

Maura claims to Augustino, "GLs already get a free metric vote, don't think they need anything else."

Augustino nods.

Kinaed states, "Not at the moment, but I'll add it to staff talking points that I'd like to see guild activity bolster metrics. Eg, troubs performing pushing up morale, for example."

Temi states, "They already have an increased incentive towards certain metrics, we don't want to make it stronger too."

Temi trails off, "Now, as an incentive for additional activity..."

Temi grins at Kinaed.

Temi nods.

Temi asks of Kinaed, "Still no topics on the list? Then we can give people a bit to read through the plot revamp spec and ask any questions they might have"

Maura claims to Kinaed, "Eh... That... As long as there isn't negative side effects for a lack of activity, I suppose that wouldn't hurt."

Steven says, "Hm"

Evani huggles the ledger and smears it in mud

Plot Command

plot list
plot header create
plot create [#]
plot advance [#]
plot edit <#>

Polca commands:

header <#>
owner <player>
share <comma separated list>
share none

Plot headers remain much the same as they have been, representing staff-run
special events which should show up on login and in plot header list. Plot
header create should be a staff only command to create plot headers with the
existing polca.

Plot create and plot advance should both enter the revamped plot polca, with
an optional argument for a number representing the plot header, which should
automatically set the header field in the polca if given.

The owner should also be automatically set to the player creating the plot.
The owner or staff can also set the owner to another player through the use
of the owner command, but no one else can set it. The owner or staff can
also use the share command to set other people who can edit or see the
plot, or clear it with share none. Any player, guild or public can be
used as the target for share, or a comma-separated list. Anyone shared on
the plot edit it, but only one at a time. If someone attempts to edit the
plot while it is already being edited, they can be given an error message.

Plot list should continue to work as it does now.

Plot Types

Polca commands:

type <type>

Plot types are designed to help players keep track of what they need to do
for a plot. Each plot type has requirements associated with it. The owner
can change the type while the plot is in draft status, and staff can change
the type at any time. When the type is changed, all of the previous
requirements are removed and the ones for the new type are added.

Plot types are:

Staff-Sponsored Plot - Requires header plot and action
Guild Investigation - Requires 1 guild investigation point and action
Roleplay Assistance - Requires 10 QP and action

Plot Status

Polca commands:

submit
store
cancel

Staff polca commands:

status <status>

Status tracks where a plot is in the process, and helps to automate
that progress.

Plot statuses are:

Draft
Queued
In Progress
Needs Input
Complete
Rejected

Staff can set status directly.

When players create a plot, its status is draft. Once they have
completed all of the requirements, they can use the submit command
to change the status to Queued, which indicates that it is ready for
staff review. Until the player is ready to submit back to staff,
they can use store instead, which will leave it in its current
status and does not require that all items are filled out. Only the
owner can submit.

If a plot has never been stored or submitted, the creator can also
use the cancel command to discard it.

Plots that have been accepted or rejected can no longer be edited by
players. If a player edits a plot, it should go back to the Draft
state.

Requirements

Staff polca commands:

require remove <#>
require add silver <#>
require add qp <#>
require add ip <#>
require add object <vnum> <#>
require add gpoints <#>
require add rumor
require add icevent

Requirements mark out items that players must complete to submit a plot.
Staff can remove requirements or add additional ones. Each requirement
is numbered and the remove command uses this number to remove them. Any
requirements which are not fulfilled should display in red with an (Unfilled)
tag at the end. Requirements can be silver, qp, ip, objects, or guild
investigation points, the number being the amount of each, or a rumor or IC
Event can be required.

Contributions

Polca commands:

contribute silver <#>
contribute qp <#>
contribute ip <#>
contribute object <object/s>
contribute gpoints <#>

Staff polca commands:

contribute remove <#>

Any player shared onto a plot can contribute towards the plot, which will
then be stored on the plot. Any contributions which are removed by staff
will be returned to the contributor, and if the plot is rejected, all of
them will be returned. Contributed objects could be stored in a plot box
in an OOC room, the entirety of which could be returned to the owner of
the plot to disburse in the case of the plot being rejected, to not have
to deal with restoring strings - or another solution that is easier.
Maura claims to Kinaed, ""And they are quite fun books.""

Actions

Polca commands:

action

Any player can define their action on a plot. This is a description of
the IC actions that the player is taking to advance the plot. This is a
single editor which is unique to each player on the plot, but if they use
the action command again, it will edit their same action field once again.
All of the actions should be visible when viewing or editing the plot, but
tagged with the name of the person having written it. If any player has
created an action, it should count for the action requirement.

Notes

Polca commands:

note [targets]

Staff polca commands:

note retarget <#> <targets>
note delete <#>

Anyone who is shared on a plot can add a note when they are editing it.
Notes provide an ongoing correspondence between players and staff on
the outcomes and questions from the actions being taken. Notes can
be directed to a list of specific targets, or if no targets are
provided it should default to visible to everyone on the plot. Staff can
always see all notes, and are eligible as a target. Notes cannot be edited,
but staff change their target or delete them. Notes should display in time
order with who posted them and a time stamp. Only notes directed to the
player as a target should be visible to them.

Guild Investigations

Commands:

gpoints

Polca commands:

contribute gpoints <#>

Staff commands:

gpoints [g100uild]

Staff polca commands:

require add gpoints <#>

Guild points represent the resources that a guild has available
to investigate things within their circle of control by guild theme.
Guilds should earn points at weekly turnover, according to the current
state of the metrics. At that point, any unused guild points should be
reset, replaced by the newly earned ones.

Guild points should be earned at the rate:

Pathetic    = 0 per week
Poor        = 1 per week
Challenged  = 1 per week
Substandard = 2 per week
Ordinary    = 2 per week
Average     = 3 per week
Good        = 3 per week
Excellent   = 4 per week
Superb      = 4 per week
Legendary   = 5 per week

Based on metrics:

Lawfulness : Reeves/Thieves * Thieves get inverse points for this metric.
  Morale : Troubadours
  Piety : Order
  Economics : Merchants
  Health : Physicians
  Infrastructure : Council

If a requirement for guild points is removed or the plot is rejected,
the points can be returned to the guild, even if a rollover has happened in
the meantime.

Guildleaders should be able to contribute guild points to plots, and
there should be a role investigator which determines others in a guild who
are eligible to contribute guild points.

Anyone not restricted in a guild can use the goints command to see
the number of guild points available. Staff can view the point totals
for any guild. If staff specifies a guild, show the table for that
guild. If not, show all guilds. If a player is in two guilds, they can see
both, one after another.

Player view:
The <guild> currently have the resources to conduct <#> more investigations.

Staff view:
GUILD POINTS EARNED THIS WEEK
Reeves 1 2

IC Events and Rumors and Metrics

Polca commands:

post_event <yes/no>
spread_rumor <yes/no>
ic_post
rumor
post_title <title>
rumor_subject <title>
circles <circles>

Staff polca commands:

metric shift <metric> <amount>
metric remove <#>

Posts, rumors and metric shifts all go live after the plot has been accepted.
If the plot is reject, none of them take effect. The post_event and
spread_rumor commands are yes/no toggles which switch whether or not the
other post or rumor fields are visible, and whether or not they would be used.

If post_event is set to yes, an event will post on accept, and ic_post and
post_title fields would become visible, and ic_post would be required to submit.
ic_post opens an editor to post an IC Event post, which should go to all on the
IC Events board on accept of the plot. If post_title is set, that should be
the title of the post. If it's not, the title of the plot should be used for
the IC Event post. post_event should be given preference of post_title, if
only post is used in the plot polca. Anyone shared on the plot can edit these
fields, providing access to the same, shared editor.

If spread_rumor is set to yes, a rumor will post on accept, and rumor, circles
rumor_subject fields would become visible. Rumor would be required to submit,
and circles should default to Public. Rumor opens an editor to post the text
of a rumor, which should go into the rumor system. If rumor_subject is set,
that should be the subject of the rumor. If it's not, the title of the plot
should be used for the rumor subject. Circles should be used as the circles
of the rumor. rumor should be given preference to rumor_subject, if only
rumor is used in the plot polca. Anyone shared on the plot can edit these
fields, providing access to the same, shared editor.

Staff can also add metric shifts, which will place on accept of the plot.
Metrics are added individual and can be positive or negative. Once added, the
metric shift should appear numbered in the plot, and can be removed as well.
Metric shifts can also only be seen by staff. If an IC Event post is in place,
when it is posted, the metric shifts should be prepended at the beginning of
the post with the message matching the one in the recent shifts UI of city
report.

Staff Plot Manipulation

Staff commands:

plot accept <#>
plot reject <#>
plot status <#> <status>

Plot accept will move a plot into the complete state, posting all IC Event
Posts, rumors and metric shifts. Plot reject will move a plot into the
rejected state, returning all contributions. These should be the only way
to set a plot into complete or rejected state. Plot status will be an easy
mode to set the plot into other statuses than complete or rejected, working
the same way as the status within the plot polca, creating the Plot board
posts to indicate that status has changed.

Example Plot

Vnum : 123
Title : Scouring the Brambles
Header : 0, Unset
Status : Waiting for Players
Owner : Joe
Type : Guild Investigation
Shared To: : Kinaed, Reeves
Requirements : [1] 1 Investigation Point
                [2] Action Description
Contributions : [1] 2x a lump of iron (30098) [Joe]
                [2] 1000 silver [Kinaed]
Actions : [1] Joe is combing over the the bramble bushes, looking for bits
of cloth that may have been caught on the thorns, to see if
he can match up the tattered cloak that Niamh was discovered
with with any of them. He also throws a couple lumps of iron
out into the middle of the brambles, to listen if they clank
against anything out deeper than he can make it. [Joe]
[2]I would like to first order all of the Reeves to patrol the
area around the south gate, looking for any sign of the
missing gold or people behaving suspiciously, like they might
know something. If they do, accuse them of associating with
Niamh and see how they react. Then ask about where they hid
                the gold.
I would also like to bribe the guard at the south gate to let
me know if he saw anything and to ask what Niamh offered him
to not report what she did. [Kinaed]

Message: So, Kinaed knows that Joe is a mage, but the rest of

Message: Are you looking for all types of cloth in the brambles
or only the ones that match the cloak in question? And do the
Reeves know what they are looking for?
Post Event : No
Spread Rumor : Yes
Rumor : Ugh, what a long night. Traipsing back and forth by the south
gate... do they really think there would be gold there, so
close to Southside? The plebes would have sniffed it out and
be brawling over it for sure. What a waste of time.

Metric Shifts : [1] 5 Lawfulness to Class Relations

Kinaed says, "It's a bit early to be concerned *sage nod*"

Troy says, "Heh"

Troy states, "One in particular I like"

Kinaed wonders to Temi, "I think people need time to digest the spec. Do you mind if I move on? I've got some topics coming in through tells"

Maura strums their fingers "I need to play a mage again, it's been far too many... years? Has it been years now?

Evani states, "Oooh I loke it"

Temi says to Kinaed, "Sure."

Evani says, "Like"

Kinaed smiles.

Kinaed nods at Maura.

Gabriel disposes of the Plot Revamp spec ledger.

Evani disposes of the Plot Revamp spec ledger.

Gabriel muses, "May I get a return trans, please?"

Kinaed queries, "Okay, then! Let's have a look at Player Heartbeat. How was the game this last week? RP good?"

Gabriel has been transferred out by Kinaed. [OOC]

Evani queries, "I love it, it seems a little difficult, but I think... could we have a command which tells us what we need to do next to make it easier?"

Norrig claims, "Extremely slow because of that american tradition."

Maura trails off, "Don't believe I've actually rped at all in the last week..."

Evani claims, "I liked the rp i had. :)"

Vlora says, "Didn't really get a whole lot done due to running out of energy a bit"

Onreon claims, "Same."

Norrig states, "The one where they eat a black man from Turkey on a friday."

Kinaed comforts Maura.

Troy says, "Too full of pie"

Norrig says to Maura, "Me too."

Lelei claims, "I've been burnt out and bored on my noble. Other characters are okay."

Evani claims, "Aww."

Kinaed comforts Lelei.

Orik states, "Definitely some interesting rp this week."

Augustino has been a bit slowly but steadily crafting stuff and doing the occasional bit of RP as well.

Evani states, "I am not bored on mine yet."

Lorrent states, "I've had some great RP this week, though I've been pretty busy"

Evani says, "Though evani I've been a bit overwhelmed with."

Onreon should work on some Yule stuff.

Onreon begins to count their money.

Kinaed muses, "Anything shitting anyone that we ought to know about?"

Maura says, "Nobles do get boring real quick. I found a bit of controversy and hell raising tends to fix that."

Norrig claims, "Hmm."

Lelei claims, "I just feel like it's hard to be an antagonistic character when you're like the only one doing it."

Norrig states, "I'll bring it up as my topic, Kinky."

Kinaed nods at Norrig.

Lorrent claims to Lelei, "I promise you that you are not the only one being antagonistic"

Evani muses, "I thought there were other's being noble brats?"

Lelei claims, "So I've just decided I'll do small things on my own until I get some energy back."

Kinaed nods at Lorrent.

Maura puts their arm around Lelei, smirking widely "That is an all too familiar feeling..."

Kinaed claims, "Okay, well, I do have a list of staff topics. "

Evani nod nods.

Lelei claims, "Yeah. Just tiring."

Kinaed states, "Er, player topics1"

Lelei nods to Maura.

Kinaed says to Norrig, "Want to introduce us to yours first? I've got two through tells (or should have soon)."

Norrig rises a few inches off the ground magically. Thanks to one of you who is totes a mage: "I wish to bring up the fact that theme isn't being enforced or is being disregarded in some cases completely. Like proper class relations, sumptuary breaches, indecency, enforcing sexual conduct (kudos to the whipping the other week). It's just being ignored. And there are few chars whose job is to enforce it (Reeves and knights being scarce). Many people don't want to cause friction or conflict -- that is fine-ish, make a harsh, scalding rumor instead. But uphold theme please!"

The man continues while gesticulating wildly, eyes almost popping out: "A freeman banging a gentry, or a gentry a noble, is a SCANDAL. A savage befriending a guild leader while not belonging to it is worrying. A Farin not reacting to homosexuality is indignant for his or her people. And what about a man baring his arms? WILL SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!?"

Troy smiles at Norrig.

Kinaed muses, "Is it an issue that people don't know the theme, I wonder? Or think that it's unfun to play?"

Troy claims, "I like you"

Arlow states, "People want to interpret theme in their own ways, and when they're corrected ICly, a lot of them take it personally OOCly"

Kinaed nods at Arlow.

Norrig states to Kinaed, "Both I'd say."

Arlow says, "Which makes it really annoying to continually enforce it when they just get salty about it"

Evani asks, "Hey I know it's a scandal, it's why I did it. what?"

Norrig states to Arlow, "YES."

Maura listens and shrugs "I feel it's an issue of theme being.... selective."

Troy claims, "Yeah people tend to take theme OOC quickly"

Kinaed queries, "Would it help if we had an OOC Theme Reminder command that people can use anonymously to post to the room what the theme is?"

Kinaed muses to Troy, "What do you mean 'take theme OOC quickly'?"

Evani says, "Magery, run away, away."

Maura agrees wholeheartedly with Arlow on this. "And yes, I think that would be an amazing command."

Norrig says to Kinaed, "Maybe. I mean I know that some things are more difficult to enforce. Like sexual conduct or sumptuary, since people IRL don't care about that."

Evani trails off, "Well ok, so like..."

Kinaed says, "There's also an issue that I've seen people scream theme and just not "get it"."

Lelei claims, "I've been having a problem with this myself however and I think I wrote a note to staff about it."

Evani says, "Evani wouldn't care who was showing their arms, but Lyo may"

Steven says, "I enforce sumptuary >_>"

Troy states, "Back when I played Orderites, if I tried to enforce theme, people would just try to avoid scrnes"

Lorrent claims to Norrig, "Idk, I feel like a RL monster when Lorrent hates on homosexuality, but it causes a whole lot of conflict RP for me"

Steven says, "With hefty levies"

Troy says, "Scenes"

Lelei states, "I don't know I feel like we have enough orderites doing things like staring down justiciars and getting away with it that orderites complaining about people not doing anything about theme is just irritating as hell to me."

Alexis claims, "I'm a little slow but a theme reminder command would be great."

Augustino states, "I think that the theme is very well detailed and I like that. I try my best to stick to it but a lot of it depends on my characters personality. But then the theme should also be considered in terms of that as well. Your surroundings and culture affect how you grow up so it should be similar with your character and theme."

Lorrent claims to Norrig, "Conflict RP being a good thing."

Kinaed states, "Like, we once had a Prince who no one would listen to. The help file said the Prince was one of the highest people in the game according to Order of Precedence... but he just did not have the gravitas to pull off getting people to do things. In part because he expected the help file to do the heavy lifting."

Evani claims, "Well, i mean ... like this char. She's tubori, things like showing arms and legs aren't offensive to her, but for people like Yil, they may be. She's Vavardi but she knows umptuary laws and the like."

Kinaed states, "I think it's also important to note that theme is designed to be a source of conflict."

Lorrent says to Lelei, "The Order is the guild that enforces the theme of "Davism rules all and anyone that disagrees with the Order is a heretic this is all for your own good" which is the counterbalance in theme that is "are mages really that bad, isn't Davism kind of like the Empire in Star Wars""

Norrig nods at Lorrent.

Maura slinks up to Lorrent "Interesting note. It's easier to pkill someone in game morally than it is to be a hardass about those dirty Tubori and their unclean ways. Just find that an interesting little tidbit I've noticed."

Evani shrugs and sits back on her cushion.

Lelei claims, "That's not my problem my problem is that when you have orderites doing things that should have them called into question by guild leadership and they do absolutely nothing aboutit. it's irritating. It's honestly why I've just resorted to avoiding the order."

Norrig claims to Maura, "Yes."

Kinaed nods at Maura.

Evani nods her head slightly to Lelei

Lorrent wonders to Lelei, "What, call into question the church that can burn you at the stake for disagreeing with them?"

Orik wonders, "On a similar note, illiteracy is treated weird imo. Everyone has been essentially pushing for literacy on my character, but wouldn't it be thematic for a freeman to be illiterate?"

Kinaed states to Lelei, "I think you may be overestimating what the Order GLship knows - or if they're invoking the other themely thing of backing their people even when they're wrong."

Lelei says, "I'm not saying I should have to do it I'm saying that the Order themselves should be policing themselves."

Lorrent claims to Lelei, "I guess I don't understand what you're actually saying, if you'd like to use an example instead"

Arlow says, "I feel like you're also making assumptions without proper information, and you're coming into this with a lot of OOC bias"

Kinaed claims to Orik, "No, literacy is near universal in Lithmore for the same reason it was for the Puritans. The Order teaches everyone to read, even orphans, so they can read the Erra Pater."

Evani questions, "And awww, well literacy is kind of a good thing, if you are a freeman though I don't know if you would have the education to read if you were super poor?"

Temi nods at Kinaed.

Steven states, "If you notice something and dont tell the Order leadership then the Order leadership cant know."

Augustino muses, "I think the hardass characters who enforce the laws and beliefs of theme are good. But I also think that they shouldn't turn a blind eye to corruption in thier own ranks as Lelei mentions. Of late it seems like the Order is trying to make everyone but themselves look bad and grab power. Granted that could also be considered themely in some ways?"

Steven says, "Cant expect enforcement if the enforcers arent informed."

Temi claims, "That's a difference we have from the medieval world - commoners weren't supposed to read the Bible. Our commoners are supposed to read the Erra Pater."

Norrig states, "Yes."

Kinaed claims, "The Order ICly teaches everyone to read; offers free schooling in reading."

Alexis muses, "What is the best way to note something they see as off theme, like if it's minor you can send a tell, but if it's major, should that be a request to staff, or?"

Evani enods

Vlora claims, "I think you're lending too much weight to those constant rumors, Augustino. "

Norrig claims, "It's also hard to enforce theme against an oldbie. Because they can F*** you up."

Maura recalls a cardinal who was killed by an angry mob... "While I certainly undertand the mindset of the order being holier than everyone and unquestionable, it seems the order should also perhaps have a respectful fear of the 'masses' they are meant to lead."

Kinaed claims, "I think maybe another idea for off-theme stuff is a theme command that maybe sends a 'theme review request' to staff, and staff can poke their head in, ask what it's about, and/or remind a room of theme."

Lelei claims, "I can't use an example because it's IC information but when we have individuals breaking eteequette, social propriety thrown right back into the order when in actuality it is not even thinkable it'd happen I just get irritated. As I said it's why I avoid order RP."

Norrig states to Maura, "Commie."

Evani says, "Some people just don't want to deal with the church."

Norrig claims to Kinaed, "Some people will find that aggravating, ma'am."

Maura chuckes to Norrig "First time I've ever been called that."

Kinaed wonders to Evani, "Then why play The Inquisition? *headscratch*"

Kinaed says, "The Order is central to the entire game's theme."

Lelei says, "It's just my opinion. You can disagree it doesn't effect my over all opinion of the game, I'm just not going to get involved."

Lelei states, "I do the bare minimum."

Lorrent states to Lelei, "It's... the base of the game, though."

Steven claims, "Social etiquette isnt exactly an enforceable thing unless its refusing to show respect to a nobleman."

Evani grins at k. "I play because I love the game. And I know you can't avoid the church. I'm just saying that sometimes..."

Steven says, "Its something folks should shun you over, not an enforced thing."

Evani states, "And no i don't avoid the church. It's part of my character's lives, I 'm just saying that sometimes I get sort of stressd out."

Maura claims, "Agrees with steven on this "Ever since the reeves were particularly declawed by staff polices and updating, it's been hard for them to really pursue smaller crimes.""

Augustino claims, "I was more refering to the fact that the Order has stepped up and slammed two different political candidates either burning them or trying to ruin thier reputation. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. I'm just saying it looks biased to me....both oocly and icly."

Kinaed queries, "So, again, how do we feel about maybe having a theme violation command where a person inputs what is going on and asks a staff member to check in?"

Steven asks, "What small crimes?"

Arlow says, "...and both of them literally confessed to their crimes"

Kinaed states, "If education is required, it can come from staff rather than from other players."

Maura says to Kinaed, "I think that would be a great idea."

Riette wonders, "Would that command require RP to be paused?"
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

Steven says, "Because I havent had an issue with enforcement so far."

Lelei claims, "OH, that sounds like another game I've played, it sounds like it's going to lead to problems."

Arlow states, "So I mean, unless people quit running for political offices while being guilty of things, it probably won't go away"

Evani questions, "Wait, what?"

Vlora states, "I don't know about that Kinaed, I imagine it would be abused and spammed quite a bit. In the same ilk as people just jumping the gun on policy, before raising someone IC'ly. "

Kinaed asks of Lelei, "What kind of problems?"

Vlora states, "Raising something*"

Evani says, "I like the way things are going, people haven't been unthemely at all, to me at least."

Kinaed claims to Vlora, "Staff can tell a person they're jumping the gun."

Augustino states, "You have a point there Arlow."

Vlora claims, "Fair nuff"

Lelei says to Kinaed, "I am concerned that anytime people get upset or don't like something it's just going to turn into a theme violation post. I mean if there's a way to keep it from that, might be a good idea, I think it's more difficult than in actuality."

Maura says to Arlow, "To be fair, it is quite annoying where the order tends to wait for major things before taking any sort of action, speaking from my recent death on vicannia. They had all the time before seneschal races came up, but chose to wait till then. Understandable tactics, but I can see where people might be a tich annoyed"

Alexis claims, "I think a theme command might be good so long as it doesn't pause RP, cause I could see being abused. Perhaps if staff are getting like ten of the same topics it would flag the need for a new help file or game communication."

Kinaed claims, "I think that'll happen."

Lelei states to Maura, "It's more than that really."

Arlow states, "I think that's an issue you should have ICly, not OOCly"

Kinaed says, "But I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing to have a neutral third party come in and try to calm a pissed off person."

Evani claims, "Lille bit."

Kinaed says, "Help reinforce IC/OOC barriers and theme."

Lorrent states to Maura, "My character waited because he wasn't supposed to interrupt an investigation, but because he's sworn to tell the truth (and spouts off game secrets the minute he finds them out, in public, to his own detriment) and he failed a few rolls, he couldn't sit and watch someone run for Seneschal when he knew a skeleton in their closet"

Evani tries to huggle Mora and to not chew her lip

Kinaed claims, "It could also make staff turn TI into a police state, and I'm not sure I'd like to see that."

Lorrent states to Maura, "I mailed Arlow and he was not stoked about it when I went ahead anyway."

Steven states, "I tend to find assisting the theme helpfile tends to be an appropriate answer to a theme argument."

Lorrent states to Maura, "If you want a bit of background."

Lelei states, "To maura We have knights taking oaths, and all this but it's like just a thing people do to get to fight the mage and inforce laws and they aren't taken serious from the outside looking in. if you're going to play piety type characters it's a pain to me when they don't seem to follow the very thing they're trying to inforce."

Norrig claims to Kinaed, "Exactly."

Kinaed states, "But it could also be something we handle after the fact - theme violation thrown up; staff review it a week later and tell people 'you know, this is what the theme is, okay?' and then everyone learns over time."

Temi queries, "What about like a theme question index thing, like a faq?"

Kinaed nods at Steven.

Lelei says to Kinaed, "I think that'd be okay."

Norrig says to Kinaed, "I seen it other muds and it turns out to add a lot of work for GMs."

Augustino claims, "I like that idea Temi."

Kinaed nods at Norrig.

Evani nods

Norrig claims to Temi, "I prefer that. If you present the spec wearing a bunny costume."

Temi states, "Sort of helpfiles but people can ask specific theme questions, and staff can put in a response, and it's able to be references or searched later"

Lorrent claims to Lelei, "Also Knights have a code of chivalry but they'll literally kill you horrendously if for some reason it is the only means of capturing a mage (since a mage turns into a demon). So chivalry isn't like, RL chivalry, exactly."

Lorrent states to Lelei, "You can't really put RL piety and chivalry into a game that has demons and mages."

Maura chuckles on the topic of the knights, and has no desire to stick their ladle in that pot

Steven states, "If you kill someone hunting a mage, Im dragging you to Ahalin for murder."

Kinaed claims, "Okay, adding theme violation handling to staff talking points."

Temi queries to Norrig, "And if I don't?"

Lorrent claims to Steven, "I know :( I would turn myself in."

Kinaed says, "Norrig, thank you very much for raising the topic"

Steven says, ":*"

Vlora says, "It really depends on the Earl Marshal at the time. Some enforce the code to the letter, and some use it as guidelines. Both are okay. "

Alexis says, "I like the Q and A idea a lot."

Steven claims, "*:("

Lelei states, "Eh, I don't by that really just because you do what you need to do doesn't mean that chivalry is dead as you're saying."

Steven states, "Would be a sad day. I <3 Lorrents pantaloons"

Evani laughs

Kinaed says, "Alrighty then! Next topic was sent to me in a tell."

Maura trails off, "You can totes have chivalry in this game... we had it with knights like loreth, haidar, argider..."

Evani sucks on a dum dum sucker as they talk

Kinaed states, "DISCLAIMER: This is a copy paste of an exact tell. It does not represent the views of staff."

Maura claims, "It's just been so muddled and washed down that no one knows what it is anymore."

Augustino claims, "We need a tailor to make him some silver pantaloons. Or gold colored ones."

Kinaed states, "The Manus has been real dead lately and that there's a lot of new people who have been brought in and are desperately seeking RP, Mostly if we could be mindful of that and try and do that. I mean I've not seen hardly any activity either setting up RP or trying to get new members involved. And then the Rubeus left. So it's just been real difficult to really call it a guild at all."

Evani claims, "Poor rubious"

Augustino says, "R.I.P mages."

Vlora questions, "Are apps open for a new Rubeus?"

Kinaed states, "Staff are working with the guild to find the next Rubeus and will open apps if we fail. We have a lot of willing hands, but only a few qualified hands, sadly."

Maura looks at guildleader command, sees the rubeus still on there...

Orik wonders to Kinaed, "Pun intended?"

Troy asks, "What qualifies one? "

Evani questions, "Rubies in my hair?"

Kinaed claims to Vlora, "Not yet, we're waiting for responses from within the guild, but given it's the holidays, we didn't want to say 'person X is non-responsive, skip them'"

Temi claims, "The manus is sort of a tough guild. Our last Rubeus was very successful, but we've had other times in the past where it's been tough. It's even more dependent on a good leader than others."

Troy states, "Out of curiosity"

Riette says, "I didn't know the Rubeus left either, sorry if that should have been learned ICly or something."

Maura ponders what type of mage staff are looking to fill the role exactly...

Evani says, "Vllra scarry"

Evani states, "Vlora too"

Orik says to Maura, "Magical terrorist."

Temi states, "Our general criteria for guildleaders, in this case, plus also looking for ideally an awakened mage."

Temi states, "But promoting from within the guild before opening applications."

Maura nods to Temi "So looking for an existent character versus one that could be made. Given the "Qualified" comment I wasn't sure the intentions."

Norrig says, "Lol being the Rubeus without being a mage."

Lelei queries, "I can see why this is a problem. All the manus characters I've ever played join and then there is literally nothing in the way of communicatino for the guild. So I understand the frustration there. I've tried...three of them I think?"

Lorrent claims, "So I can't switch guilds, then."

Kinaed nods at Norrig.

Vlora states, "I really enjoyed this rendition of the Rubeus, actually made some pretty cool roleplay for everyone. Rather than just... 'I am the darkness that haunts Lithmore' cus that gets old fast. So I'd hope the new guy would continue the awesome standard."

Lelei states, "It really does depend on leadership to be really active."

Lelei states, "But I guess there's the issue of burn out too."

Riette says to Lorrent, "The whole spilling secrets thing would probably get you fired pretty quick. If you know what I mean."

Norrig nods at Vlora.

Vlora claims, "I've really wanted to spin up a mage and join, but seeing as how all my characters are always order... that's difficult. "

Lorrent states to Riette, "High five. Hahahaha"

Kinaed claims, "Anyway, I'd like to give the new leadership a chance, and will point them to this log on the forums."

Kinaed states, "Okay, I've got another topic by tell. Again, same disclaimer applies."

Kinaed claims, "I'd like to introduce the idea that there be a QP option to make changes to assets. People get assets in chargen or when they were open at a certain point in a character's life. Sometimes things change (from RP) that would change the asset. But some assets make no sense just putting on the marketplace - like if it's written as a stipend from a family member for example and you RPed a falling out with your family. Someone else buying your family stipend makes no sense, but you may want to update the text to something else.

Norrig states, "Yes."

Kinaed asks, "I have no issues with that. Temi, anything we should be aware of?"

Alexis nods and agrees with this.

Temi claims, "Staff have also started discussions on how to grow assets."

Orik agrees.

Kinaed nods at Temi.

Riette says, "I like it. Lateral moves."

Temi states, "But QP changes with RP behind it changing seems reasonable."

Steven wonders, "Isnt the text changeable without needing qp?"

Temi nods at Kinaed.

Evani nod nods.

Steven claims, "Like the actual description text"

Temi claims, "Asset changes should generally be IC changes to the same actual thing."

Kinaed nods at Steven.

Temi states, "But to change it to something completely different would probably take some IC justification and more help."

Kinaed states, "I don't know if people can update the text directly now; I know they can in chargen, and I believe they can upon purchase."

Kinaed nods at Temi.

Temi states, "I think they should be able to edit it."

Temi nods at Kinaed.

Temi says, "But our policy is not changing it to something different."

Azarial says, "Should be able to tedit the strings, i thought"

Temi trails off, "Changing names on your shoe shop or also bringing in belts: all good. Changing it to a butcher. Well..."

Norrig pontificates, "Maybe they kill the calf, sell the meat, use the leather for shoes and belts!"

Maura actually sees a leatherworking shop dualing as a butchery making tons of sense

Kinaed says, "Well, I think people can edit the strings right now, as Az was saying. I don't see why QP is needed. Honestly, the asset itself is balanced by virtue of the system, so if you get your 100 silver per month from a stipend, then want to change it to a business, it doesn't matter mathematically to us, it's not breaking anything. However, it makes sense that a person should need IC justification."

Norrig says, "All in the same room. Chinese efficiency."

Norrig nods to Maura. And to Kinky.

Kinaed says, "That being said, since it doesn't break anything, and it is mostly below the surface in terms of visibility, I'm not sure why we can't trust players to be sensible about it."

Norrig asks, "Hm. Can someone find someone's asset through RPA?"

Lelei claims, "I think they can yeah."

Kinaed cocks her head to Temi.

Temi claims, "Provided sensible means that match what it is."

Norrig says, "Something to consider. I go and do something warranting RPA then swiftly change my asset to fool... no but staff would be aware of it."

Kinaed states, "So 'I want to know what assets Temi has' is not a proper RPA request. More like "I'm digging into X by doing Y, what do I get?" may turn over asset info."

Temi nods at Kinaed.

Norrig nods.

Norrig pontificates, "Forget I said anything. Let's move on!"

Kinaed claims, "There are no commands in game for players to see another players assets, unless they've been thrown to the market for inactivity."

Kinaed declares, "Well, we're actually at the top of the hour!"

Kinaed says, "And got through all registered topics."

Kinaed states, "Go us :)"

Lelei claims, "Woo."

Maura jumps for timeliness

Temi muses, "Do we have any quick comments remaining on the plot revamp stuff, that people absorbed into? Or shall we let Kinky return us on time?"

Temi grins.

Orik queries, "Should assets show up on the reeve command where it shows their name and class?"

Kinaed says, "Anyone have any last plugs before we move on? I want to thank everyone who has been voting lately, and remind you that our best road to getting new players lately appears to be Reddit, so please... support us by posting about us there."

Arlow pontificates, "Reminder: Magebane event was moved to tomorrow!"

Kinaed states to Orik, "Not at the moment, and probably not in the near future."

Maura would hope not... though that reeve command is questionable as is

Lorrent says, "Please don't let assets show up easily, or if you do, let people request to change the names of them so they don't have, say, "Kidnapped Daravi Children Sales" or something"

Lorrent says, "Hypothetically"

Temi says to Orik, "They don't know. I'd actually like to revisit the verify stuff, but it would be in the greater future."

Temi says, "Now*"

Kinaed states to Maura, "It is not questionable, it's actually quite historical in use."

Kinaed states, "People had papers back to Roman times."

Maura wonders, "Are you saying kidnapping daravi children is wrong lorrent?"

Empena wonders, "In the mean time if you'd like an asset change before that change is/might approved, should you request board that?"

Lorrent says to Maura, "Never."

Kinaed says to Temi, "I do think it needs adjustment for forgery and whatnot though."

Temi nods in agreement with Kinaed.

Lorrent declares, "Also I think a forgery command to fake verif-- yes!"

Maura shrugs to Kinaed "I've heard that... still just seems weird."

Temi states, "Yeah, I have some ideas for it."

Lorrent says, "That would be awesome."

Kinaed says to Maura, "It's true; go ahead and do research about it. It's very similar to how banks and government agencies won't do business with you without your drivers licence or valid proof of ID."

Maura says to Kinaed, "Think it's moreso a perception issue on my end is what I'm trying to say. "

Norrig claims, "Make verify forged papers a craft."

Kinaed nods at Maura.

Kinaed nods at Norrig.

Lelei says, "The Italians were real big in the papers of citizenship I believe."

Norrig says, "Yes."

Lelei says, "Especially because they were involved in a lot of banking."

Maura claims, "Feels like a very modern notion that it's hard for my mind to 'believe or fathom' it being used back in the days of knights and sieges"

Kinaed claims, "Okay, thank you everyone, for attending this week's OOC Chat! I hope everyone got something out of it, and look forward to next week."
