I went through our changes board and cleared it down to 0 notes, and it almost stayed that way a whole hour (Az is like lightning, I'm telling you, there is no defeating the code-wizard). I replaced a borderline unthematic Artwork recipe with a new one (Found Art became Painted Clay Tiles, for extra pretty on recipes that use tiles as materials). Processed an RPA, which was exciting. I think this was last week, but I went through most of the permanent feature Artworks (fountains, frescos, etc.) and gave them setting/drying times to slow down mass production. Same deal with book-binding, though with much shorter timers, in the interests of keeping books thematically rare(r). Last for me was working through organizing some of the information on the Mounted Combat Spec. Didn't make a ton of progress beyond separating information into usable chunks, but it'll probably be my main focus this coming week."
11:13:04p |

11:16:39p | Percival declaims, "Roleplay this week has been great. Shout out to all the people that came by the university and did some roleplay with me and the other people that work there!"
11:16:39p |
11:16:42p |
11:16:42p | Ern says, "I rolled a new character that I've been having loads of fun with. Having a great time bumping into all sorts of RP and fantastic characters."
11:16:42p |
11:16:51p |
11:16:51p | Niamh highfives Ern.
11:16:51p |
11:16:54p | Kinaed smiles at Ern.

11:17:12p |
11:17:13p |
11:17:13p | Vlora states, "Mages being able to just walk into the keep through a weak point was a little annoying. But will try to fix it with a couple of requests."
11:17:13p |
11:17:15p |
11:17:15p | Vicannia chuckles to Bofaha "I believe I am cursed. The first and only story I ran, the server crashed several times, and the first event I ran, the game crashed again..."

11:17:24p |
11:17:24p | Nadya muses, "Question to staff: Can I, as a connesuire of rats, start with a collection of wieldable rats to fit a backstory of beating someone to death with one? Or must I craft a plush rat?"
11:17:24p |
11:17:26p |
11:17:26p | Margaux states, "Getting back into the swing of things, but the RP I've had has been good."

11:17:33p | Kinaed comforts Vicannia.
11:17:33p |
11:17:37p | Spencer claims to Kinaed, "Hey, that doesn't sound half bad."

11:17:46p | Kinaed says to Vicannia, "Nah, it just means we're not a very stable game overall. *cough* *splutter*"
11:17:46p |
11:17:56p |
11:17:56p | Heydan claims, "Total let down when they both refused a drinking contest."

11:18:15p |
11:18:20p |
11:18:20p | Azarial claims, "More it means code was used that had not been stress tested yet, or possibly tested at all. which means he was trying somethign new"
11:18:20p |
11:18:31p |
11:18:31p | Vicannia flicks a hand dismisively at Kinaed "Pssh. I'm more inclined to believe I'm cursed."

11:18:42p | Kinaed declares, "I did see some nice items in the Recommend queue - please keep on recommending your fellow players for RP that gives you plot, positive or negative. Thanks!"
11:18:42p |
11:18:51p | Temi states to Nadya, "You could have a ratty-themed knife, but it should probably still look like a knife."
11:18:51p |
11:19:06p |
11:19:06p | Nadya declares, "HAH. I just fight with rat on a stick!"
11:19:06p |
11:19:24p |
11:19:24p | Azarial wonders, "Rather like a rat that swallowed a knife, and is wedged on trying to pass the guard on the hilt?"
11:19:24p |
11:19:26p | sayto Kinaed YES! Recommend people who play along with your nefarious stuff, really people. Did you set someone up for framing? Recommend! Put a bad rumor about them and they play it like a champ? Recommend!
11:19:26p | Bofaha declares to Kinaed, "YES! Recommend people who play along with your nefarious stuff, really people. Did you set someone up for framing? Recommend! Put a bad rumor about them and they play it like a champ? Recommend!"
11:19:26p |
11:19:34p |

11:20:06p |
11:20:12p |
11:20:12p | Kinaed asks, "Alright - Janus, if you wouldn't mind kicking us off with your topic?"
11:20:12p |
11:20:23p |
11:20:23p | Janus says, "Sorry in advance for the wall of text."
11:20:23p |
11:20:38p |
11:20:38p | Heydan exclaims, "WOOT!"
11:20:38p |
11:20:47p |
11:20:47p | I am concerned recently that there are a lot of mages that have taken 'Order bad' as the reason to do anything they please. As Spencer mentioned earlier, the Rubeus Manus is meant to be the organisation in charge of sewing fear and suspicion of mages through the ranks of Lithmore, but currently we have not been able to take to the stage as there is too much 'other' going on and we don't wish to overwhelm the powers that be. Currently the mage attacks feel relentless.
11:20:47p |
11:20:47p | The only solution seems to wipe these rogue mages out, but that seems a bit pointless as they're soon replaced with new rogue mages who just want to be the bad guys. I bring this to your attention as a group in the hopes you can debate it and I can see how to continue and whether I'm just saturated in it because I see all the mage activity.
11:20:47p |
11:20:47p | I'd also like to point out that the mage skills are suffering when evil mages do evil things with them repeatedly. I feel sometimes the victims need to have a breather, which is why we haven't taken any action for a while. [Janus]

11:21:35p |
11:21:48p |
11:21:48p | Spencer ponders, "Have you considered, as the Manus, recruiting those rogue elements?"
11:21:48p |
11:21:54p |
11:21:54p | Spencer says, "They seem rather up your alley."
11:21:54p |
11:21:55p |
11:21:55p | Kinaed wonders, "I'm not sure what's going on mage-activity wise, but our death boards are clear, so whatever's going on strikes me as low level?"
11:21:55p |
11:22:18p | sayto Kinaed no player kills, but big iC events, direct attacks at order, keep, cathedral, knights etc
11:22:18p | Bofaha states to Kinaed, "No player kills, but big iC events, direct attacks at order, keep, cathedral, knights etc"
11:22:18p |
11:22:20p |
11:22:20p | Kinaed claims, "I'd think people would prefer to have things going on to nothing."
11:22:20p |
11:22:23p |
11:22:23p | Vlora states, "Having always played orderite characters, it's hard for me to see the other side of the coin. But, we've always had a problem with mages who just stir up trouble-- some people do it well, and create pretty neat roleplay... and some it just feels like relentless trolling and just doing stuff because yes, order bad."
11:22:23p |
11:22:35p | sayto Kinaed and that's just this week
11:22:35p | Bofaha says to Kinaed, "And that's just this week"
11:22:35p |
11:22:38p |
11:22:38p | Vicannia states, "There is no issue with taking out rogue mages... Rhea did, though she did it through the order. Her reasoning was these mages put her at risk with their stupidity, and as such she fed information to the order on them, thus creating rp for the order. The manus have even had mages who specialized in "Cleaning" before. "
11:22:38p |
11:22:45p |
11:22:45p | Kinaed muses, "Can I get a show of 'hands' in terms of people who feel 'exhausted' or 'just fine, thanks!'?"
11:22:45p |
11:22:52p |
11:22:52p | Nadya says, "Janus makes solid points. Thus far there've been pretty lengthy terrorist-ish attacks on major city centers on various parts of the city-- And it's hard to behave as if they're minor. The interactions henceforth as well, surrounding it have been basically 'We'll kill you!' is jarring to people."
11:22:52p |
11:22:54p |
11:22:54p | Janus says, "No. The rogue elements are not something we want to recruit, as they do not fit in with a guild structure."
11:22:54p |
11:22:57p |
11:22:57p | Spencer states, "Always figured the Manus, while all for sewing fear, would be a bit more of a controlled burn. Like, if rogue elements caused too much direct notice they'd very much wipe them off the board. Otherwise, figured they'd kinda absorb them."
11:22:57p |
11:23:15p |
11:23:15p | Vlora says, "I think currently it's not as bad as it used to be, where orderites would get ganked every time we left our HQ's. It feels like its getting there though."
11:23:15p |
11:23:20p |
11:23:20p | Nadya states, "I'm a little tired of the open-ness of rogue mages."
11:23:20p |
11:23:32p |
11:23:32p | Vicannia states, "I say have the manus take a firm stance. Also it's a bit exhausted even though I haven't really been directly affected by any of it."
11:23:32p |
11:23:34p | Margaux states to Kinaed, "I'll abstain. I've been back a week, and haven't seen any mage activity at all."
11:23:34p |
11:23:35p | sayto Vlora but that's a low bar to get over heh, and it's a bit too much now, too open
11:23:36p | Bofaha says to Vlora, "But that's a low bar to get over heh, and it's a bit too much now, too open"
11:23:36p |
11:23:38p |
11:23:38p | Percival claims, "I feel exhausted by it."
11:23:38p |
11:23:50p | say and hard to really explain icly
11:23:50p |
11:23:50p | Bofaha states, "And hard to really explain icly "
11:23:50p |
11:23:53p |
11:23:53p | Ern enjoyed a really super awesome scene with a mage a couple days ago-- not an attack, but a pretty spectacular display of powers that was really well played out. Those do happen now and then, also.
11:23:53p |
11:23:55p |
11:23:55p | Kinaed wonders, "Any other exhausted folk? Any folk feeling fine?"
11:23:55p |
11:23:56p |
11:23:56p | Heydan asks, "Maybe challenge the rogue mages in a mage duel kill them and then continue with a controlled burn?"
11:23:56p |
11:23:59p |
11:23:59p | Azarial states, "It would be novel to see someone take a page out of martin luther's book, though nailing something to the door of the cathedral might be a bit riskier."
11:23:59p |
11:24:00p |
11:24:00p | Desna muses, "If the Death Boards are clear and it's just Roleplay being built, then what's wrong with a few Rogue Players?"
11:24:00p |
11:24:17p |
11:24:17p | Heydan says, "Take the reins as they say."
11:24:17p |
11:24:23p | Kinaed nods at Desna.
11:24:23p |
11:24:24p | Esen is idle.
11:24:24p |
11:24:26p |
11:24:26p | Temi says, "I haven't had the chance to be on grid much for a good view myself."
11:24:26p |
11:24:28p | Esen is no longer idle.
11:24:28p | Esen has returned from AFK.
11:24:28p |
11:24:29p |
11:24:29p | Kinaed says, "That's how staff approach monitoring."
11:24:29p |
11:25:02p |
11:25:02p | Nadya states, "Because it's hard to RP mage terrorist attacks consistently. Such as frequent attacks on the cathedral and hospital. It's to the point to where it's regarded as 'Oh, that again? Really?' in rumors, rather than a hefty event."
11:25:02p |
11:25:09p |
11:25:09p | Spencer states, "Seems more like something the Manus should or could maybe handle more IC by approaching the rogue mages. Warning them, cultivating them, or outright removing them as an issue."
11:25:09p |
11:25:21p | nods Nadya
11:25:22p | Unrecognized command.
11:25:22p |
11:25:23p | nod Nadya
11:25:24p |
11:25:24p | Heydan states, "I just think it would be awesome to see a full on mage war in the middle of the city. Buildings exploding and the Order going mad"
11:25:24p |
11:25:24p | Bofaha nods at Nadya.
11:25:24p |
11:25:34p |
11:25:34p | Janus states, "I would be reluctant to kill of these mages. Specifically there is a group that constantly returns in new forms like a hydra. There are steps being taken to try to resolve this ICly but I feel it has got to the point where there's not much that can be done in response."
11:25:34p |
11:25:37p | Vicannia trails off to Desna, "The thing is, these rogue mages, they don't typically contribute to rp. They throw up a wall that interrupts rp, and then bugger off..."
11:25:37p |
11:25:44p |
11:25:44p | Esen states, "And well, some mage attacks are better at promoting RP than others, but I think this is falling into the issues with the vines and other items. It's been done where there were lasting opportunities for RP and done where people are just separated from RP."
11:25:44p |
11:25:50p |
11:25:50p | Vlora claims, "The main issue is with how open mages are about attacking the main Order buildings. Just in the last few weeks, the Keep has been attacked twice, and I don't know how many times the Cathedral. I mean, considering they are both two places swarming (with VNPC) Knights and whatnot, it seems quite unthematic for it to keep happening."
11:25:50p |
11:25:55p |
11:25:55p | Kinaed claims, "It looks like our last player-driven death was on Jun 29th."
11:25:55p |
11:26:23p |
11:26:23p | Kinaed claims, "We noted that the cathedral was missing lawful flags, so added those so there'd be Order alerts."
11:26:23p |
11:26:25p |
11:26:25p | Desna states, "See, that's where I disagree. Even if it's just a barrier that gets put up, there's still roleplay to be had."
11:26:25p |
11:26:30p |
11:26:30p | Nadya says, "Death is one thing, but this rings to me like it's ignoring the fact they're laying down explosive traps and damaging spells. In the middle of crowded areas."
11:26:30p | Vicannia says to Janus, "If it's the same player creating near identical characters, who seemingly continue the work of their previous character, that could be against policy."
11:26:30p |
11:26:34p |
11:26:34p | Spencer ponders.
11:26:34p |
11:26:36p | Temi nods at Desna.
11:26:36p |
11:26:42p |
11:26:42p | Spencer asks, "Kinaed, may I make a suggestion lawful-flag wise?"
11:26:42p |
11:26:47p |
11:26:47p | Azarial states, "It should aklso report to the reeves, wirth thqat flag"
11:26:47p |
11:26:48p | Kinaed nods at Spencer.
11:26:48p |
11:26:51p | Desna muses to Nadya, "What about it? It gives the hospital roleplay, doesn't it?"
11:26:51p |
11:26:52p |
11:26:52p | Vlora states, "It seems to me that Mages would be a bit scared of attacking main order locations, especially on their own. I mean... it's a castle, full of mage hunters. You're not gonna want to go head up against that."
11:26:52p |
11:26:54p | say and those very open attacks are hard to explain then "OH yes, we protect the city, but well, we have mages walking into our KEEP whenever they please"
11:26:54p |
11:26:54p | Bofaha says, "And those very open attacks are hard to explain then "OH yes, we protect the city, but well, we have mages walking into our KEEP whenever they please""
11:26:54p | Kinaed states to Spencer, "Suggestions are always welcome."
11:26:54p |
11:26:57p |
11:26:57p | Spencer asks, "Currently there's a delay when magic is cast out in the open, yes?"
11:26:57p |
11:27:02p |
11:27:02p | Spencer says, "Something like a five minute delay"
11:27:02p |
11:27:07p | say but yes, we protect the city
11:27:07p |
11:27:07p | Bofaha states, "But yes, we protect the city"
11:27:07p |
11:27:10p |
11:27:10p | Azarial states, "Varies opn piety"
11:27:10p |
11:27:12p |
11:27:12p | Niamh states, "Depends on city metrics, I believe."
11:27:12p |
11:27:14p | Niamh nods at Azarial.
11:27:14p |
11:27:16p |
11:27:16p | Spencer says, "Well"
11:27:16p |
11:27:17p | Nadya states to Desna, "Actually, we had to fight to get RP BACK into the hospital quite a while ago, due to bombings/etc."
11:27:17p |
11:27:19p |
11:27:19p | Temi claims, "There's definitely roleplay to be had, and we encourage that, but we do enjoy a balance of different RPs that foster the right atmosphere. Not saying we don't have it now, but we try to keep an eye on it."
11:27:19p |
11:27:20p | Desna queries to Bofaha, "Still, I don't see the problem. Why not just attack them?"
11:27:20p |
11:27:28p | [TURNS]: Janus requests all RP partners take turns.
11:27:28p |
11:27:31p |
11:27:31p | Kinaed says, "It depends on City Metrics how lawful rooms respond."
11:27:31p |
11:27:38p |
11:27:38p | Spencer muses, "What about making it so there's no delay in certain places, like in the Mage yard or right at the actual cathedral?"
11:27:38p |
11:27:50p |
11:27:50p | Spencer claims, "Erm Knight yard"
11:27:50p |
11:27:52p |
11:27:52p | Spencer says, "KNIGHT YARD"
11:27:52p |
11:28:05p | sayto Desna how? It's really not that easy, even if you are online, and in range as it's happening
11:28:05p | Bofaha asks of Desna, "How? It's really not that easy, even if you are online, and in range as it's happening"
11:28:05p |
11:28:10p |
11:28:10p | Vicannia laughs "Just attack them... ha."
11:28:10p |
11:28:12p |
11:28:12p | Spencer claims, "Thematically it makes sense but still requires players to be the ones to react"
11:28:12p |
11:28:26p |
11:28:26p | Kinaed claims, "It's certainly something to consider. I'm also thinking certain areas, perhaps designated church ownership, might have stronger responses, like loading knight mobs, if Religion is high, etc."
11:28:26p |
11:28:40p |
11:28:40p | Azarial claims, "Knights already load if piety is high enough."
11:28:40p |
11:28:43p |
11:28:43p | Desna muses, "I don't see the problem. It's the Manus' / Mages job to make trouble. Why not just attack the mages and kill the character?"
11:28:43p |
11:28:49p | Kinaed nods at Azarial.
11:28:49p |
11:29:01p |
11:29:01p | Margaux queries, "Could the church/knights spend some money to buy some wandering knight mobs that wander their zones?"
11:29:01p |
11:29:04p | Kinaed states to Desna, "They don't know who is at fault, I suspect."
11:29:04p |
11:29:04p | Vlora says, "It really isn't that easy, Desna. "
11:29:04p |
11:29:04p | Spencer states to Desna, "It isn't really always that simple tbh."
11:29:04p |
11:29:06p | sayto Desna I welcome you to join the knights and show us how, app slots are open. But it's not that easy
11:29:06p | Bofaha says to Desna, "I welcome you to join the knights and show us how, app slots are open. But it's not that easy"
11:29:06p |
11:29:16p |
11:29:16p | Margaux claims, "Make the vnpc community more tangible."
11:29:16p |
11:29:20p |
11:29:20p | Janus claims, "The problem is that there is the 'just attack back' solution, but being rogue mages, they don't have houses or guild halls to directly attack. They can also fly and are invisible, so that takes out half of the attacking party already. I know, because I am a mage. We have skills that make us hard to catch. The skills aren't the problem, it's the use of them to make skirmish terrorist attacks."
11:29:20p |
11:29:30p | Desna muses to Bofaha, "You don't know how to attack a mage?"
11:29:30p |
11:29:35p |
11:29:35p | Vicannia questions, "Here's my question... if Ahalin can prevent magic being used in it... why doesn't the cathedral have the same set up?"
11:29:35p |
11:29:42p |
11:29:42p | Kinaed states, "I don't want to build the game to rely on the vnpc community; without true AI, it'd be arbitrary and full of problems."
11:29:42p |
11:30:00p | Kinaed claims to Vicannia, "A good point. I'll add that to staff talking points."
11:30:00p |
11:30:03p |
11:30:03p | Azarial claims, "...i don;t feel up to writing AI; i only hvae a BS."
11:30:03p |
11:30:03p | Desna nods at Kinaed.
11:30:03p |
11:30:06p | sayto Janus indeed, even in direct confrontation, prepared, with ashes, mages have good ways to get away. And that's fine, as long as, well, not overused.
11:30:06p | Bofaha states to Janus, "Indeed, even in direct confrontation, prepared, with ashes, mages have good ways to get away. And that's fine, as long as, well, not overused."
11:30:06p |
11:30:06p | Heydan states, "Think that skirmish attacks is how mages would attack."
11:30:06p |
11:30:11p | Kinaed hugs Azarial.
11:30:11p |
11:30:32p | Desna queries to Bofaha, "What would you define as over used?"
11:30:32p |
11:30:38p |
11:30:38p | Margaux claims, "Perhaps invisibility or fly could cancel out when other spells are cast? It seems a tad abusive otherwise."
11:30:38p |
11:30:40p |
11:30:40p | Spencer says, "Well, that's why I suggested the flag warning being immediate in certain places. Usually a threat of being caught with your pants down is enough of a deterrant, whereas the delay really just means the person needs to cast and just leave before the warning goes up."
11:30:40p |
11:30:40p |
11:30:40p | Janus says, "And mages are limited."
11:30:40p |
11:30:47p |
11:30:47p | Janus states, "Er, mage-ash is limited"
11:30:47p |
11:30:50p | sayto Desna 3 direct attacs on players seems over the top for me
11:30:50p | Bofaha claims to Desna, "3 direct attacs on players seems over the top for me"
11:30:50p |
11:30:52p |
11:30:52p | Janus states, "I feel the pain of the order/knights."
11:30:52p |
11:31:10p | say and all from one player I think
11:31:11p |
11:31:11p | Bofaha says, "And all from one player I think"
11:31:11p |
11:31:14p | Desna questions to Bofaha, "How do you know it's one person attacking three times or three people attacking one time?"
11:31:14p |
11:31:19p |
11:31:19p | Niamh says, "Mage ash becomes a lot less limited when the Inquisition is burning mages, tbh."
11:31:19p |
11:31:41p |
11:31:41p | Kinaed states, "I *think* flight cancels invisibility, but we'll have to check that."
11:31:41p |
11:31:42p |
11:31:42p | Janus says, "It's from a group of players that tend to get together and attract each other to the same rogue mage cause."
11:31:42p |
11:31:45p |
11:31:45p | Heydan claims, "What if the Order gets something like a Holy Object of Davi which dispells invisibility within the room? Then they see the rogue mages and kill them."
11:31:45p |
11:31:47p |
11:31:47p | Spencer states, "Tbh, part of the Order not catching mages has been a shift in ideology on how to handle things over the last few years."
11:31:47p |
11:31:52p |
11:31:52p | Vicannia states, "Having played multiple sides of the coins, inquisitor, knight, priest and mage, both sides have their downs and ups... so I can't agree with the notion one side has it rougher than the other."
11:31:52p |
11:32:02p | Niamh says to Heydan, "They've got it -- mage ash."
11:32:02p |
11:32:04p |
11:32:04p | Spencer says, "Order used to make deals and do some really questionable things to do what they had to do. Folks are a lot more... rigid... now."
11:32:04p |
11:32:06p |
11:32:06p | Heydan states, "Oh"
11:32:06p |
11:32:07p | sayto Niamh working on that! Just, takes time, not as easy to attack mages hah
11:32:07p | Bofaha pontificates to Niamh, "Working on that! Just, takes time, not as easy to attack mages hah"
11:32:07p |
11:32:15p | Niamh nods at Bofaha.
11:32:15p |
11:32:16p |
11:32:16p | Kinaed claims, "Also, staff are pretty sure (after extensive testing) that mage ash finally works properly, and that can absolutely vis out a mage."
11:32:16p |
11:32:19p | Margaux says to Janus, "If true, that sounds rather against the spirit of policy."
11:32:19p |
11:32:32p | sayto Kinaed can it be intercepted by having leveled throwing skill?
11:32:32p | Bofaha asks of Kinaed, "Can it be intercepted by having leveled throwing skill?"
11:32:32p |
11:32:40p | say i heard rumors that it can... which is silly
11:32:40p |
11:32:40p | Bofaha trails off, "I heard rumors that it can... which is silly"
11:32:40p |
11:32:47p |
11:32:47p | Niamh states, "Mage ash cancels all magic it comes into contact with. I'm not sure he's been used yet."
11:32:47p |
11:32:48p |
11:32:48p | Azarial states, "Ranged combat and the lon reach weapons should work"
11:32:48p |
11:32:56p |
11:32:56p | Niamh claims, "*It's, not he's. Ash is not a person."
11:32:56p |
11:32:56p |
11:32:56p | Janus states, "I'm not, at all saying that it's particularly difficult for any side. What I am saying is that this is starting to become a policy and thematic issue - of rogue mages attacking because 'order bad'. It's getting tiresome and taking up much of the play space."
11:32:56p |
11:32:59p |
11:32:59p | Niamh trails off, "...anymore..."
11:32:59p |
11:33:02p |
11:33:02p | Vicannia nods to Spencer "Having the order be willing to work along with Rhea, icly and oocly, was great fun. I'd rather have the two sides be willing to work with each other than this "No, we can't work together ever."
11:33:02p |
11:33:04p |
11:33:04p | Kinaed asks, "I think I'm missing something in the spam. What sounds like it's against policy?"
11:33:04p |
11:33:08p | Spencer states to Janus, "If it's the group I think you're talking about, I'm pretty sure that got nipped a bit not too long ago."
11:33:08p |
11:33:13p |
11:33:13p | Nadya says, "I just think people need to lay off with the public displays of attacks. It loses weight on impact when you have to, again, RP it as 'Oh, they cause mass property damage... 'Again'?' in order to be semi-sane as a person."
11:33:13p |
11:33:36p | sayto Nadya just like it was with animals, we had them twice a day when mages started controlling them
11:33:37p | Bofaha claims to Nadya, "Just like it was with animals, we had them twice a day when mages started controlling them"
11:33:37p |
11:33:38p |
11:33:38p | Azarial claims, "As far as ash goes, you can flub the toss to hit the mage, but no, no throwing something to intercept the sachet"
11:33:38p |
11:33:46p | sayto Azarial thanks!
11:33:47p | Bofaha exclaims to Azarial, "Thanks!"
11:33:47p |
11:33:49p | Vicannia claims to Kinaed, "This is a repost of what I thought might be a policy issue. " if it's the same player creating near identical characters, who seemingly continue the work of their previous character, that could be against policy."
11:33:49p |
11:33:59p |
11:33:59p | Kinaed says, "That is correct."
11:33:59p |
11:34:00p | Margaux states to Kinaed, "A single group of players that keep perpetuating a mage circle between then across different characters, was how I read the description."
11:34:00p |
11:34:04p | Janus says to Spencer, "It's rebuilding... again."
11:34:04p |
11:34:13p | Spencer grumbles.
11:34:13p |
11:34:18p | Spencer says to Janus, "That's rather unfortunate."
11:34:18p |
11:34:19p | Kinaed claims to Niamh, "Is that what's happening? I haven't been around for three weeks."
11:34:19p |
11:34:23p | sayto Janus maybe work with staff on that? You have more detials than anyone here
11:34:23p | Bofaha muses to Janus, "Maybe work with staff on that? You have more detials than anyone here"
11:34:23p |
11:34:27p | Niamh states to Kinaed, "No, not at all."
11:34:27p |
11:34:39p |
11:34:39p | Kinaed states, "I don't think that's what's happening then."
11:34:39p |
11:34:49p |
11:34:49p | Kinaed says, "The staff would alert me if that were the case."
11:34:49p |
11:34:55p |
11:34:55p | Temi claims, "We aren't aware of any situations that are that, as opposed to some other sneaky mage tricks, but if you have any info on such, we'd be glad to hear it."
11:34:55p |
11:34:56p |
11:34:56p | Margaux says, "Okay. I'm just going on my interpretation of the comments here."
11:34:56p |
11:34:57p | Spencer says to Janus, "I'd consider the idea that it's also possible there could be some rebirths, etc, in there."
11:34:57p |
11:35:01p | Kinaed nods at Temi.
11:35:01p |
11:35:02p |
11:35:02p | Niamh states, "Very quickly, in fact. >_> With emails and texts and Kin-harassment."
11:35:02p |
11:35:11p |
11:35:11p | Nadya says, "So, mind if I raise a point, or question, to clarify something? Because I feel like this bit of context would un-muddy the spirit of the conversation."
11:35:11p |
11:35:11p | grin Niamh
11:35:11p | Bofaha grins at Niamh.
11:35:11p |
11:35:11p | Kinaed nods at Niamh.
11:35:11p |
11:35:21p |
11:35:21p | Janus says, "Go for it"
11:35:21p |
11:35:22p |
11:35:22p | Kinaed claims, "I sometimes get emails from people; they get my attention quickly."
11:35:22p |
11:35:32p | Kinaed says to Nadya, "Go for it :)"
11:35:32p |
11:35:42p | Spencer questions to Kinaed, "Can I send you emails and harass you daily?"
11:35:42p |
11:35:52p | Kinaed says to Spencer, "You CAN, but it might be unwise."
11:35:52p |
11:36:01p | sayto Spencer include cooking recipes
11:36:01p | Bofaha states to Spencer, "Include cooking recipes"
11:36:01p |
11:36:12p | Margaux says to Spencer, "She particularly likes to be included in spam mail."
11:36:12p |
11:36:18p | Niamh nods at Margaux.
11:36:18p |
11:36:19p |
11:36:19p | Azarial claims, "You get that saucy unicorn centerfold a few times, and it kinda sours tyou on email"
11:36:19p |
11:36:21p | Kinaed says to Margaux, "Shush."
11:36:21p |
11:36:35p | Spencer queries to Margaux, "How about chain mails?"
11:36:35p |
11:36:38p | Kinaed states to Azarial, "I thought you liked my birthday pics. :("
11:36:38p |
11:36:39p |
11:36:39p | Nadya states, "The Manus is the seat of the Mages. Would it be reasonable to say that rogue mages should be less powerful, or have less ability to gain knowledge without the collated information a guild has? --Because here, it sounds like the issue is rogue mages being archmasters, rather than plucky novices struggling to survive."
11:36:39p |
11:36:53p | Spencer claims to Margaux, "Maybe some bad fanfic written about various character figures in the game."
11:36:53p |
11:36:58p |
11:36:58p | Azarial states, "Send a note asking about a specification, get the image back with a comment about saddles, briddles, and a long moonlit rides."
11:36:58p |
11:37:06p |
11:37:06p | Heydan says, "That makes sense Nadya."
11:37:06p |
11:37:08p |
11:37:08p | Margaux says, "I wouldn't agree that the manus is the seat of the mages, just a particular caste of them."
11:37:08p |
11:37:18p | Desna muses to Nadya, "But what do you do with the top of the Manus when it goes rogue? Do you penalize the player and set them back?"
11:37:18p |
11:37:22p |
11:37:22p | Kinaed states, "It's already heaps harder for a rogue mage to learn than a manus member, for example."
11:37:22p |
11:37:28p |
11:37:28p | Niamh claims, "Much."
11:37:28p |
11:37:28p |
11:37:28p | Janus claims, "Y...es, that is the case. There are mages who are arch-masters outside of the Rubeus Manus, and we work on collating knowledge, but I don't think the solution is to nerf their abilities to learn."
11:37:28p |
11:37:32p |
11:37:32p | Kinaed claims, "I think the Manus also has some skills as guildskills."
11:37:32p |
11:37:35p | say or test spells
11:37:35p |
11:37:35p | Bofaha claims, "Or test spells"
11:37:35p |
11:37:43p | say manus is great for that hah
11:37:43p |
11:37:43p | Bofaha says, "Manus is great for that hah"
11:37:43p |
11:37:44p | Kinaed nods at Janus.
11:37:44p |
11:37:44p |
11:37:44p | Janus states, "I don't think so, Kinaed."
11:37:44p |
11:37:45p |
11:37:45p | Vicannia humms softly "It would be nice if the manus had something... special to them other than a single guildskill to my knowledge."
11:37:45p |
11:37:57p | Janus nods.
11:37:57p |
11:38:13p |
11:38:13p | Vicannia queries, "They only have eld to my knowledge... what other guildskills do they have kinaed?"
11:38:13p |
11:38:19p | Desna wonders to Vicannia, "Like maybe be able to take the magic power away from a mage?"
11:38:19p |
11:38:25p | say maybe give them magecraft as guildskill?
11:38:25p |
11:38:25p | Bofaha queries, "Maybe give them magecraft as guildskill?"
11:38:25p |
11:38:31p |
11:38:31p | Kinaed says, "If they don't, then that'd be something lost when Manus shut down and the skills would have been released. Mostly Eld though"
11:38:31p |
11:38:44p | Kinaed says to Bofaha, "I'm cautiously okay with that."
11:38:44p |
11:38:53p |
11:38:53p | Kinaed states, "But it'd be a staff discussion."
11:38:53p |
11:38:53p | Vicannia trails off to Desna, "No..."
11:38:53p |
11:38:53p | Janus states, "I would appreciate that. Our guild was close to being closed down and it might need a few sparkles. I wouldn't say that the Rubeus Manus has the power to take away magic. That wouldn't be thematically correct."
11:38:53p |
11:38:55p |
11:38:55p | Nadya states, "The thing isn't to nerf, it's to ask. It's a point. Because if you're alone, you're weaker than if you were in a pack. Yet, it would seem like the Manus struggle in general to keep Rogues in check."
11:38:55p |
11:39:09p |
11:39:09p | Spencer claims, "I'm not really happy with the idea of taking magecraft away from non-Manus members."
11:39:09p |
11:39:17p |
11:39:17p | Azarial states, "Oh, he does. find some plucky muggle, a frustraing mage...a book."
11:39:17p |
11:39:40p |
11:39:40p | Nadya claims, "So, the guild, just like any other, should probably have some perks to it that being alone doesn't. I'm not a mage, so I don't know this, but Janus's frustration is palpable, and I want to be constructive."
11:39:40p |
11:39:44p |
11:39:44p | Azarial claims, "Then stand back, deal with the threats, the smoke, and the resultant cackling."
11:39:44p |
11:39:45p |
11:39:45p | Vicannia chuckles "I remember when the manus first went down... boy was I upset about that."
11:39:45p |
11:39:45p |
11:39:45p | Desna claims, "I think it would be interesting if you could get 5 mages together to ritualistically remove the power from a mage and turn them normal."
11:39:45p |
11:40:06p |
11:40:06p | Janus states, "I... cautiously agree. Magecraft seems a little too integral to being a mage. But I do believe we should have some perks, and not ones that, like with the Madison, cause people to join just for the skill and then ditch us."
11:40:06p |
11:40:07p | sayto Desna that doesn't really work with the theme though afaik
11:40:08p | Bofaha says to Desna, "That doesn't really work with the theme though afaik"
11:40:08p |
11:40:08p | Azarial states to Desna, "Jsut burn them, so you don;t get anymore demons."
11:40:08p |
11:40:24p |
11:40:24p | Azarial states, "Or if you don;t care, stick a knife in them until they stop scrfeaming and twitching."
11:40:24p |
11:40:28p |
11:40:28p | Heydan queries, "What if the order gets a tool they can use to find mages and Magnus gets a spell to prevent that tool from working?"
11:40:28p |
11:40:30p |
11:40:30p | Janus states, "I like Desna's idea, even if it's temporary."
11:40:30p |
11:40:31p | sayto Janus would require moving some recipes around, but could be made workable
11:40:31p | Bofaha states to Janus, "Would require moving some recipes around, but could be made workable"
11:40:31p |
11:40:34p |
11:40:34p | Vicannia ponders further "To be fair, one guildskill is not uncommon for guilds."
11:40:34p |
11:40:47p |
11:40:47p | Heydan claims, "Then it makes operating outside of Magnus dangerous"
11:40:47p |
11:40:53p |
11:40:53p | Heydan states, "Like a mage tracker"
11:40:53p |
11:41:09p |
11:41:09p | Margaux claims, "My guild doesn't have a guildskill, I don't believe the Reeves do either."
11:41:09p |
11:41:17p |
11:41:17p | Azarial claims, "They get commands"
11:41:17p |
11:41:20p | Vicannia trails off to Janus, "There was a time when magecrafting did not exist... it's NOT integral to being a mage, it's just a bonus"
11:41:20p |
11:41:23p |
11:41:23p | Margaux claims, "Fun commands. :)"
11:41:23p |
11:41:27p |
11:41:27p | Spencer questions, "What if the Manus got some kind of bonus to cross-element teaching?"
11:41:27p |
11:41:27p | nod Vicannia
11:41:27p | Bofaha nods at Vicannia.
11:41:27p |
11:41:29p |
11:41:29p | Janus says, "Thanks, Vicannia."
11:41:29p |
11:41:31p | sayto Vicannia good ole times
11:41:32p | Bofaha claims to Vicannia, "Good ole times"
11:41:32p |
11:41:46p |
11:41:46p | Azarial claims, "And when I can get roles in, commands that work. the 'have to change all fo the ranks' bug people get bit by is rather annoying for me."
11:41:46p |
11:41:50p |
11:41:50p | Kinaed queries, "So... what if non-manus mages were limited in terms of mage lore - can't access the help files for their spells or see the descriptions for magecraft items?"
11:41:50p |
11:41:53p |
11:41:53p | Heydan states, "Cross-elemental teaching sounds like a decent perk"
11:41:53p |
11:42:04p |
11:42:04p | Kinaed queries, "Can still do everything, but a bit more hampered in those terms?"

11:42:06p |
11:42:06p | Vicannia smirks to Bofaha "The good old days when Demon summoning was just a fantasy."
11:42:06p |
11:42:06p | sayto Kinaed I fear that would punish new players, old ones wouldn't care
11:42:07p | Bofaha says to Kinaed, "I fear that would punish new players, old ones wouldn't care"

11:42:18p | Niamh states, "It's already that way for everyone."

11:42:18p | Bofaha claims, "Boosts the meta sky high"
11:42:18p |
11:42:25p | Kinaed states to Bofaha, "A reasonable concern."
11:42:25p |
11:42:27p |
11:42:27p | Janus states, "Anyway, you can see my frustration that we're currently being shoved from RP because other rogue elements have decided to bomb everything. I don't want to eat up the rest of this meeting on the topic. At the moment 'just kill all the bad guys' isn't working, because we soon see a return of another uber-mage who can single handedly bomb everything to rubble."
11:42:27p |
11:42:29p |
11:42:29p | Niamh states, "What it would do is make the Manus more knowledgeable on magic."
11:42:29p |
11:42:30p |
11:42:30p | Vlora states, "What if the mage had a backstory like, they were from another cabal or somesuch in another duchy. "
11:42:30p |
11:42:32p | Kinaed nods at Niamh.
11:42:32p |
11:42:40p |
11:42:40p | Temi wonders, "What if instead of being limited from it, you could get extra access to it, for spells you don't have, etc?"
11:42:40p |
11:42:56p |
11:42:56p | Niamh claims, "So, it's not taking away from anybody, as it's already like that universally. It'd just be adding to the Manus."
11:42:56p |
11:42:57p | Janus states to Kinaed, "That would be really helpful."
11:42:57p |
11:43:27p |
11:43:27p | Nadya claims, "If the ritual idea is added, the summoning circle needs to resemble dickbutt. This, I decree."
11:43:27p |
11:43:28p |
11:43:28p | Vicannia trails off, "I don't think limiting mages access to spell information would be wise, old players have that knowledge stored, but new players need it not to end up killing themselves testing a spell..."
11:43:28p |
11:43:28p | Kinaed claims to Janus, "I'll discuss rogue element mages further with staff."
11:43:28p |
11:43:35p | Janus says to Kinaed, "The helpfiles, I think. But I have a feeling most of the roguemages are players that have played for a long time and have become bored. Keep in mind I'm partially jaded from what seems to be a recurring theme."

11:43:47p | Kinaed says, "I honestly - without the death board filling up, for example, it's hard for me to feel like crazy shit is going down."
11:43:47p |
11:43:49p |

11:44:04p |
11:44:14p | Niamh muses to Vicannia, "They don't have access to it now, though. You know how if you're a mage and you try to do "help <whatever spell>" you don't have, it's like the helpfile doesn't exist?"

11:44:48p | Janus says, "It's not so much pk that's a problem here. It's interrupting the course of RP. What's happening is the rogue mages are whittling down the infrastructure so they can take easy fights."
11:44:48p |
11:44:50p | Kinaed wonders to Bofaha, "An attack happened, you explain it as it happened?"

11:44:52p |
11:44:52p | Nadya claims, "It's something that dissuades heavily from mage interaction, rather than fosters it. The frustration is getting a bit eye-rolly, from both the victims in antagonistic RP, and from the Guild itself."
11:44:52p |
11:45:01p | Vicannia questions to Niamh, "... isn't that how it's always been? I feel like I'm missing something here"

11:45:37p |
11:45:40p | Niamh says to Vicannia, "Right. That's the point. *nodnods* That's how it's always been and it wouldn't be changing. The suggestion is to make that different for the Manus. The Manus by nature of being the Manus would be able to do any "help <spell>" and read the helpfile, with or without the spell."
11:45:40p |
11:45:48p |
