Create a minigame that randomly spits out notes, and the player must match the note or note combinations to practice.

I think it'd be cool if we used a bit of a memorization game:

The first note is e.

play e

The second note is a.

play ea

Etc.

When you get long enough, you complete a song, and that song pools you?

Thanks - stole the idea from someone on the general board LBU thread... was that you? *blush*

Confused as to where the memorization part of the game would be. With most mud clients, wouldn't you just be able to look up a few lines to see what the last inputs were? It would just be copying, not memorizing anything.

Or am I missing something?

With several, you would, yep. It's just to make it more fun and engaging than typing a string and pooling after typing several emotes. Not all clients do that, though.

I'm totally missing how typing in random letters/notes is more engaging than IC emotes/rp, especially when anyone who can see more than 2 lines of their buffer will see previous lines and negate the memorization aspect of the game. Maybe its late and I just don't get it, though. The only thing it adds to is that you can practice while alone and it doesn't require rp, but then, pool through pmotes doesn't either, so I guess I stand by my statement. It just seems like busywork.

From what I understood, this would be in addition to Learn by use? ie, something a bard can do when they don't have RP going on. Correct me if I'm wrong, Kinaed?

It was a suggestion by a player on the general board that I fleshed out to be in addition to the LBU as "practicing" instruments. I guess the utility is limited, however, so will remove this to the rejected pile.
