Associations

So I have a sort of vague idea here that I thought I'd throw out for discussion.

How would people feel about having some code/policy support for player-initiated organizations? IE you could have some basic support for the coven or gang of bandits or religious order or hunting/social club you set up.

Wouldn't have to be anything major. Just stuff like being able to purchase property communally, have VNPCs, pay taxes communally. Perhaps it could interact with influence and domains in some way.

Just a thought.

I'm a bit torn on this one.

On the one hand, I see it as fun/neat/whatever, mini-guild/clubhouse.
Something people can play with whenever they want.

On the other hand, I see it pulling away from the main guilds, then making those guilds emptier than normal and causing more of the recent troubles.

I'm with Onyx. This idea would be great... if we had about thirty more players to make it viable.

I'm not suggesting there be x-blocks of any sort for any of these.

As it stands, if anyone wanted to do a kidnapping, they aren't able to set up a small shack somewhere to hold a prisoner. Nor any sort of common storage area for friends. Nor a hunting lodge. I think those are impediments to RP, and having them would add to RP not take away from it. I don't think any of these places should be secured by anymore than a lock really.

Can't you take care of this with pay list or something? One player buys, other people just funnel their money to that player to pay for taxes and/or initial building costs?

What Wimple said. People have actually done this before, and it works fine!

That only works if you don't have your own phome though. Nor does the home necessarily transfer as it should depending on wills and whatnot (which may not have been updated in a sufficiently timely fashion, or which may have had someone who was killed with the official owner listed as the heir.)

Are players only permitted one building? Help Phome just says everyone's entitled to one free phome. If people were going to create another sekrit building for RP Shenanigans, I'd think the staff would allow it?

The wills thing is just an RP thing. If it's an abandoned building, though, it's not going to be in someone's will necessarily.

Just one building. When I found that out is when I posted this thread lol.
