Prestiege / Notoriety

As brought up in the OOC Chat, I think it might be good to open up the prestige system a little more. At present, Hillish and Charali cannot participate at all, with their prestige stuck at 'reviled'. I would think even if they're all thought of as lessors, one would treat a savage servant different from a savage chieftan, for example. It could just be a new set of adjectives, similar to how the ones for nobility are different from commoners. The third class could have their own set.

Perhaps a rethinking of the system would make it more interesting as well. At present, prestiege is how well someone is known- but mostly in a good way. Combining prestige with notoriety on how a person is known could make for an interesting system, and could encourage antagonism.

Chuckles at the idea of a "Villain" notoriety prestige system

At a certain level your character name is wiped from the game, and actively replaced with "They who shall not be named."

I'd support that. :?

But in honesty ... "Reputation" is not always prestigious necessarily. Some of the most famous people or stories IC that are in books or lore entries or whispered around by people were not necessarily -good- people, however, they certainly had a reputation. And sometimes the worst things have the same if not more staying power than good things.

And in certain circles one might imagine that infamy and notoriety could be as valuable if not more so as a currency than prestige. Like an alignment scale. It could play a part in plots or maybe even be taken into account in the new "turf wars" system or with haggling.

However, that might require a change in mindset between "personae" and "coded name" - IE - could people (mages, Brotherhood members, other ne'er-do-wells) go on such a list with an alias (like the Blackmarket uses) rather than their coded name.

A few ideas on what might add to notoriety:

use of the finish command in the last month
use of the steal command in the last week
has been lashed / publicly punished in the last month
is mentioned in a current IC event
has a warrant
has a branding
has been maimed
