In the midst of Magebane, at dawn of Novembris the 3rd, her Holy Honour Farra
dul Baildana led a bloodied figure out from Ahalin Tower to the gathered
assemblage of the capitol. There, pyred Quentyn le Bray, a Clerk of the
Reeves, for the sin of Magery. Speakingly loudly so as to drown out the
raving prophecies of the man that his death would summon terrors far more
foul upon Lithmore, the Grand Inquisitor promised that, no matter the trials
of the future, the Inquisition and the Knights Lithmorran would always defend
the Kingdom of Dav.

Of note, in the midst of her speach the noblewoman called forth Cateleya le
Sandes, praising her for the courage to do what is right and turn the man in
before further terrors could come. She knelt humbly before the shocked
Troubadour before the young Tubori, crying, was swallowed back up by the
crowd.

At the conclusion of the pyring of Quentyn le Bray, the Grand Inquisitor
Farra dul Baildana made a short statement about the bid for the Seneschal
position at the head of Lithmore's City Council. There, in an untraditional
move by the very untraditionally-appointedly noblewoman, Her Holy Honour
voiced her personal endorsement of the aging former Inquisitor and retired
Knight Rothgar Astartes, while encouraging the population to not be
uninvolved or disinterested in the campaign.

Poet Laudate Calanthe op Valencia has quietly resigned from her post. Some
may be disappointed by the lack of pomp and circumstance surrounding the
woman's departure, but others are making their own entertainment by guessing
at the cause. Whatever the truth may be, it is expected that her replacement
will be introduced soon.

On the sunset on Balasdes, Novembris 26, 376th Sun Cycle of the Lord, the
Troubadours of the city and the realm gathered upon the Globe Theatre, most
highest bastion of the culture and civilization in the kingdom.

It is there that news of the talented Calanthe op Valencia's stepping down
from the prestigious leadership as Poet Laudate. The lack of explanation was
received with curious glances and expressions of sadness, yet the speculation
upon a successor gained the best of the artists, mummers and bards.

That the mercenary dancer Norrig Donoven would be even considered for the
post was the gossip of the evening. A freeman of very humble origins, a
quiet man most of the time, he had already been assisting with the daily
affairs of running the Troupe for an entire year, while op Valencia travelled
the kingdom and performed her duties. As the conclusion seemed a reality,
the golden eyed man rose to the stage and spoke in his smooth voice, a hair's
breadth from serene this time: "My fellow troubadours, my friends, my new
family... It is with great humility and gratitude that I accept the weight
of your trust, and the responsibility that comes with it. I look forward to
build upon my predecessors' legacy and uplift the people into the light of
culture and civilization. With the protection of the Queen's Guard, the
vigilance of the Holy Order, the labor of the Merchants and the care of the
Physicians... I can only see bright days ahead of us. Now let's hurrah for
Miss Calanthe, and let the music begin!"

The man was expected to resign from his mercenary profession in order to
dedicate himself fully to his new duties.

The fresh Poet Laudate Norrig Donoven was approached by a group of
heterogeneous citizens as he tried to drink coffee at the Amity cafe in
solitude, near Market Square. They wanted to know his inmediate opinion on
the Seneschal campaign, and of course, whom did he favor. The tall
lithmorran frowned and considered his words before speaking in his
characteristically quiet tone: "You ask a difficult question, citizens.
Undoubtedly, Rothgar Astartes is a superb choice. Even as a young boy... I
would hear stories of his heroics, of his courage in front of annihilation,
of his selflessness. He is experienced in the ways of our city, he is well
known and respected, and needs no introductions."

"Which is why I will not support this formidable man."

He raised his ever-gloved palms, silencing questions, and continued, serious:
"Yes. I am of an opinion for a fresher mind, less forged by a thousand
battles into rigidity. Less scarred by defeated mages and demons. Less
toughened by the fires of war."

He shook his head slowly: "Ser Astartes has my gratitude, admiration, and
respect. There is, and there will not be a man like him to walk the land...
But Lithmore must be guided by a quill, not a sword."

"If you would ask of where my support lies, I will say a fresher slate, a
merchant with a level head. Someone like Justin ab Fairfield. Yes. That's
whom I will support."

Word from the venerable Queen's Guard headquarters circulates that Magistrate
dul Tremoille, having met with Justin ab Fairfield in person to grill him
about his intentions and plans, has put forth her unyielding support for the
gentryman's bid. After being harangued for a statement as she left her
meeting with the Seneschal-hopeful at The Golden Coin, she gave a lengthy
statement which detailed her reasons for supporting the gentryman, and urged
the citizens of the city to speak with him if they hold onto any doubts.

Although the speech was as long-winded as speeches tend to be, the general
gist has been easily summarized by a particularly notable snippet:

"A personable man of gentle birth is best suited to the day to day
bureaucracy of city hall, and Mister Justin ab Fairfield fits the bill. Our
meeting has confirmed his stalwart plans for the capital. I feel confident
that he respects not only the institutions which keep Lithmore the lively
centre of the Kingdom, but is also a conscientious, law-abiding, and rational
gentleman who will use Her Royal Majesty's influence for the betterment of
her people."

A Modest Influence Event

These past few weeks have been freezing and cold, and few dare to venture
outside. However, one of those who does brave the Lithmorran weather is
Justin ab Fairfield. He has been seen talking with people from all guilds
and classes, hearing their concerns. He has listened to tirades about the
state of the roads from Farin wagoneers, speeches on Lithmorran purity from
local priests, and long-winded defenses of noble privilege from visiting
autocrats. The broad-shouldered blonde man has also become a common sight in
establishments as varied as the Bear and the Boar and the Bluebird, meeting
with local power-brokers and guild leaders. His time spent out in the city,
often sipping whiskey and listening with a smile, has clearly had an effect
on the people.

A Consequential Influence Event

The Yule Market was given an extra piece of entertainment today. A call for
attention was made, asking for silence. In the center of the space stood
both the Earl Marshal, Vlora von Vashaak - and seneschal hopeful, Rothgar
Astartes. What progressed was an honoured exchange, medals for distinguished
and valours service for the mans 30 year veterency. A Knight Lithmorran,
retired.

The Earl Marshal spoke, "To that end, the Knights Lithmorran present Rothgar
Astartes with some way to acknowledge his past service. The medal of valour,
and the medal of distinguished service."

She then continued to plug his current bid for Seneschal, "I would urge each
and every one of you here to support Rothgar Astates, a proven leader. You
could do none better than following this man. To do so otherwise, and
support someone unproven is tantamount to stupidty and opens up Lithmore to
disaster. He has the support of the Knights Lithmorran."

An Ambitious Influence Event

Justin ab Fairfield gathered crowds of his supporters in the Church Square on
the chilly day of Decembris 3 to give a speech. The audience was as diverse
as the city itself. He did not speak to them for for long.

The candidate began, "Thank you all for joining me here today. I couldn't
have made it this far without your help and support. This campaign is about
you, all of you. I joined this race with a simple mission, to insure that
every citizen in Lithmore had a voice and a candidate to listen to it. When
I become Seneschal, you can be certain that the concerns that I've heard from
all corners of the City will not be forgotten. You will not be forgotten."

He stayed after the speech to talk and joke with those gathered, before
heading off to a spar.
