Today in a somber affair, The Grand Magnate was seen turning in his keys, no
speeches, as he simply nodded, making small conversations with friends and
colleagues as he stepped from the office door. There was little ceremony,
but it seems that he still has plans for staying in the city, though in a
much more muted role. Confirmed when he was caught saying these things to a
few customers.

In the waking hours of Aprilis, the Grand Master Feye ab Gravespeare
addressed a small gathering of her comrades within the Knights Keep; there
she announced her resignation from the post she had held for four years.
Through tears and many declarations of love and thanks for her fellow
brothers-and-sisters-in-arms, the young woman said that the Knights deserved
a more capable Grand Master, and apologized for her unpopular performance in
recent times. After the announcement, the Dame ab Gravespeare told those
close to her that she would be taking a leave of absence to return to Loryth
for a short period of time, presumably to settle family affairs after the
passing of her father late last year.

The Lord Justiciar brought Fanny Presely to the River Square on Votumas,
Aprilis 25. There, after an explination of her crimes, she was left to hang
until dead. There was a sizable crowd to watch the situation occur, many
people looking satisfied at such a person being hung.

With the riot in south side, Lord Lieutenant of the Reeves, Agrion de
Orveille, has taken the initiative to recruit more men for the cause of the
law. He rides towards out lying villagers with a contingent of Reeves,
urging young men and women to take up arms and come to Lithmore to serve the
Reeves and the Law in exchange for glory, and if it doesn't work, warm beds
and good food to fill their stomach.

On a breezy spring day, a ladylike tubori figure emerged from the merchants
guild hall, known among Merchants as Deaidry le Lawson. She gave a brief
speech to the small gathering, acknowledging that she had volunteered to take
the empty Grand Magnate's position, and apologizing for her inactivity during
a past tenure as Magnate of Lithmore. When the speech ended she returned to
the guild hall.

The rousing of villagers was a success! Dozens upon dozens of abled bodied
young men and women flood the Reeves' Headquarters, looking to join the
Reeves because of Agrion de Orveille's efforts. There has been a notable
size of new, fresh recruits, which free up the more senior Reeves to attend
to other duties aside from patrols and petty crimes.

According to workers and volunteers assisting with the rebuilding efforts
near the Southside border, the repairs to the fire-damaged homes are nearly
complete. A small celebration is expected to occur over the next few days to
commemorate those who lent their support to the project.

It can come as no surprise to anyone that across the last few months tensions
have been increasing in the racial part of Lithmore's melting pot; these
troubles came to a head at the docks near the Tubori Quarter on Arendas,
Maius the 3 of 379, when staunchly faithful Farin protesters gathered to
prevent the mooring of Vandagan trade ships carrying vodka imports - a liquor
accused of being the strongest and most 'sinful' spirit of the lot. What
began as shouting and a blockade along the dockside turned sour when the
Nightpine Walrus, a celebrated Vandagan vessel known for its cyclical
deliveries of alcohol, was spotted by protesters pulling in to port,
resolving in a large, boulder-sized rock being collectively rolled, lifted,
and heaved over the deck by a large number of Farin. The boulder crashed
through the deck, keel, and hull in one singular crash, and within minutes
the Nightpine Walrus had been sunk to the bottom of the Bren. While the crew
was fished out of the river unharmed, the ship's cargo of casks and bottles,
believed to have been worth some ten gold, were lost.

(This is a city metrics-related plot post.)

It's early morning when the commotion from the docks becomes city-wide news.
The struggle between Vandagan captains and the Farin hasn't stopped, but
instead has erupted, igniting an out of control affair. The Farin are
targeting all Vandagan ships now, and though it looked like verbal exchanges
between the two might be enough to stop it, in the blink of an eye a group of
coamjar-smoking Farin are storming one of the Vandagan ships that's been
trying to find berth. With all the force of waves breaking on coastal rocks,
Vandagan ships are one-by-one smashed by thrown rocks, turned back, or
stormed by the angry protestors as the situation grows more out of control.
By afternoon, only a few ships had managed to find their way to safer docks,
leaving the racial tensions as high as ever for not just the Farin and
Vandagans but for all quarters in the city as they close down to outsiders.

On a warm morning in early June SC 379, a small crowd gathered on King's
Concourse near Southside, to celebrate the completion of the rebuilding that
had been driving some neighbors mad for weeks with "all that bloody racket."
But in the end, it was for a good cause, and townsfolk of all stripes stood
shoulder-to-shoulder, enjoying light refreshments and a job well done.

Unveiling a small, commemorative bronze plaque built into the brickwork of
one of the new buildings, Lord Kirill von Dmitreva gave a short speech
thanking all those who lent their assistance to the project. Rain Reed was
given special mention as having roused support among hardworking Freemen on
both sides of Penitent Way. Finally, a Missus Daisy Baker, mother of four,
stood up to offer sincere thanks for the rebuilding of her house -- as well
as an equally sincere warning that if any muttonheads decide to take up
torches near her home again, she'll clobber them all personally with her
favorite cast iron cooking pan.
