On a blistering cold eve, Nadya von Ferrus addresses the public, "People of
Lithmore, for too long, for far too many Prime Medici before me, have the
dead lingered in our mortuaries." Their hands fold over their lap, as they
speak, upon the entrance of the Hospice, "May the dead finally be buried.
Among them, are the unnamed, and the forgotten. But I pray, through this
act, they may be offered one final act of Humanity."

((OOC: This does not override burial rites, or Mass. This is just a
movement, and burial of bodies. Any RP around blessing, or visiting the
dead, can still occur.))

"From commonborn, to the most prestigious, and honored Royal Family, I pray
that this burial, along with all the rest of our wintertime hardships, will
usher forth a spring of robust health." Nadya seems almost happy, as their
lips continue to move, light a weight off of that small chest, yet the words
that leave--

...

"Medicines and salves, hath been taken, from the Madison. Tincture, used to
ease the pain and treat wounds inflicted by methods most foul." The Vandagan
crosses their chest, into the sign of the Chalice, "Burn salves, and other
means of combatting ailment were taken as well." The Vandagan simply takes a
breath, "The men and women, of common and gentle births of life, work
tirelessly, to ensure the ongoing health, and safety of the city. They have
families, and children-- Tithes, to pay."

A pause, "If you were brought to desperation, for such treatment-- You
needeth only to ask me. You need not to rob. So, to thee, whom may be among
you, I urge you. Repent." Their tone is gentle, as the words form. Eyes
scanning the crowd, but... With a warm gaze, they end their speech.

Word has just reached Lithmore that the Queen's Consort, His Grace Rogelio de
Montford, has officially announced the tragic news of the Queen's loss of her
child, a son who never drew breath. His Grace reports that Her Majesty is as
well as might be expected and should recover fully. He asks for the
kingdom's thoughts, prayers and patience in this trying time. No further
information was forthcoming as to the cause or details.

As the first month of the newest Sun Cycle nears its twilight, the High Synod
has elected a Grand Master at last to the Knights Lithmorran. The decision
came after many weeks of careful and fervent deliberation, and understandably
so. The new Grand Master is only sixteen years old, and although declared a
prodigy with capable skill, is being regarded with critical scrutiny. Was
this truly the best the Synod could do?

The Dame Feye ab Gravespeare hails from the city of Loryth, and arrived at
the eastern gates of the Capital to a waiting detachment of Knights, who
ushered her off to the Keep. Witnesses describe a stunning giantess with the
face of a child. Others noted the clash of colors that she wore - scarlet,
yellow, and blue.

As the Dame prepares for her duties, Lithmore City recovers from a series of
bizarre magical occurrences. Only time will tell if this new Grand Master
can prove herself worthy of the position that she now holds.

The town crier rings his bell amongst a mud-strewn crossroads littered with
shiny glass eyes. "Hear ye, hear ye! The doppelganger threat has been
defeated! The Order burned the mage responsible! Great war upon the
crossroads! Twenty three dead! Hear ye, hear ye!"

A woman's voice, carried on the wind, boomed over Lithmore, calling a summons
to the crumbling and maddened clones of clay that riddled the crossroads.
They formed a riotous army - familiar faces formed of those that both live
and lived in Lithmore - and turned to face the knights and Orderites that had
arrived.

A dramatic fight unfolded. They bought forboding messages for their
counterparts as well as an equal match in strength. Called by the mage,
lightning bolts jolted down from the sky like great oaks sprouting from the
clouds.

All involved fought to the hilt, making great sacrifices in order to restore
peace to the city and defeat the doppelgangers. It was by their efforts that
the mage was bought down and, barely still alive, taken to the pyre. The
crowd reports that a book, written in a strange tongue, was taken from the
mage.

When the embers had grown cold, naught was left but piles of ash and two,
shining glass eyes.

On a chill Februarius morning a resounding crash was heard across the city of
Lithmore, joined by a chorus of shouts most audible along Penitent Way -- the
unofficial divider between the south and north sides. The billow of dust
that soared into the sky was soon joined by flames, as the torches and
candles in Southside's collapsed structures were caught by cheap wattle and
daub roofing materials.

The fire spread rapidly east down Penitent Way and curved, following the
pattern of wattle and daub homes. By the time it reached the wooden
structures of Penmoor Street, it was a conflagration. All across the city
plumes of fire are visible above the Tubori Quarter, which has evacuated
itself.

What few buildings still stand in the Tubori Quarter are stone, and so badly
charred that there may be no saving them.

On a cold Februarius morning, shortly after the dawn the Grand Inquisitor
Empena dul Cybinese stepped out from Ahalin with the High Inquisitor Rothgar
Astartes with a prisoner bound in chains - more bound than normal and
potentially more so than necessary. Brown-robed Acolytes scattered in front
of her to prepare the pyre, to which a tall, dark-haired man is bound by both
rope and his multitude of chains and looking considerably worse for wear.
Only after being sure the man was properly bound, did she step forward to
address the crowd of the faithful gathered.

"Faithful of Lithmore, we gather today in solemnity to see the end of a
chapter in the dark history of our city and our kingdom. Look upon this man,
of late known as Jakob ab Weaver, who has had a plethora of names and a
plethora of lives all driven to dread purpose. Once was he known as Nalien,
former Grand Inquisitor of Lithmore under whose faithless guise was a
conspiracy begun to rob the people of their faith and its defenses -including
the death of the steadfast Earl Marshall Gothan ab Moritz. The Holy Order
ever vigilent has seen his cohort brought to cleansing fire - and now, here
stands the last. Let him now through the Lord's mercy be granting the
cleansing fire of the pyre to repent for his lifetimes of taint and to find
repentance and forgiveness for all he has and may yet have done."

"We submit oh Lord of Springs humbly to the commission of your Laws and
Declarations, and to the faithful following of your practices and penances
that keep and save your faithful people from such foes who would bring us to
darkness and terror. We submit oh Lord of Spring his soul to you."

And with that she lit the flame and stood nearby, just outside of the reach
of the crackling flames that by reports seem to have taken longer than usual.
When the flames died out and all that was left was ash and soot was it
gathered in a wooden phylactery and carried away after a last word, "Today,
tonight, the people of Lithmore are safer again, from another dread mage.
Our conviction and our faith are our strength, find comfort in the strength
of the people of Lithmore. Give faithful praise to the Lord. Go with
blessing and comfort."

Rumors titter and whisper about some outburst by the High Inquisitor during
the pyring, though what exactly was said seems to be the stuff of great
speculation and discussion. Some also report some grand final words of the
mage himself, something about how he wouldn't burn and the irony that of
course followed when clearly he did.

Seemingly overnight, the Farin Quarter was dressed up in a bit of festivity.
Yellow and gold cloth was tied to many of the posts, giving a bit of colour
to the winter day. Around the same time, though, the violence began.
Clashes in the street between cloaked figures and Reeves. Gentrymen and
women fleeing from muggings. A few merchants escaped it all, and some even
seemed to prosper suddenly with items for sale at prices too good to be true,
but in contrast to the bright gold linens tied about the Farin quarter the
news is definitely more dark. An increase in Reeve presence seems to have
stabilised the area, though for now everyone is left feeling tense and
watching their purses, especially at night.

Across the city citizens are holding candlelit prayer circles at Vigil in
celebration of their faith and contentment with their spiritual
wholesomeness. Even in wake of the fire that spread out of Southside and is
still burning much of the Tubori Quarter, an overall sense of happiness is
noticeable throughout the capital. "In faith we persevere" is the mantra on
the lips of many, and has gained such popularity that armbands embroidered
with the phrase are being sold at the Queen's Inn and Tavern in the heart of
Lithmore.

South of Penitent way, cloaked figures wearing the silver rose pins of
Brotherhood agents have been seen moving through the wreckage of wattle and
daub collapses, putting out fires and searching for any citizens of Southside
still living (but trapped). Southsiders displaced by the wreckage have been
offered medical supplies and temporary housing at the old Mercenary's
guildhall, where it is said that at least one agent from the Brotherhood is
making nightly visits with new, shaken and injured residents just dragged out
of the ruins.

Throughout the wreckage of the Tubori Quarter, cloaked and belted Knights
Lithmorran are moving by order of the Earl Marshall to extinguish fires and
rescue survivors. At least a half-dozen Knights have been spied taking
shifts, and in places working without rest, day after day, to transport water
from the nearby Bren to douse foundations and sort through the remains for
trapped residents and their children. At least two dozen Tubori have thus
been rescued, and while grateful for the Knights' efforts, are swiftly
finding they have nowhere to go but the city's inns.

The Queen's Inn's rooms are filled to the brim with displaced Freemen and the
Bluebird is fairing little better for the upper classes. There are simply
too many people, and not enough beds to hold them all.

In addition, a sizable monetary donation has been made by the Earl Marshall
Arielle le Kekoa to assist with vital supplies for those displaced by the
Tubori Quarter conflagration... And subsequent collapse. Food, firewood,
and shelters are already being distributed among former residents, with the
