In the wake of the resignation of Tellen von Tenrir, it was quickly
determined by the Council of Magnates that one of their own number would
step into the Grand Magnate's seat. After a quick slew of pigeons flying
back and forth across the kingdom, it was determined that it would be the
Vandagan perfumer, and Lithmore's magnate, Zeita von Zarrova that would
take on the mantle. The oft-cited reason was the energy that she's brought
to her position as Magnate since taking over and the expectation that it
would continue in the 'big seat'.

After a week of deliberation among the Troubadours of Lithmore it was
decided, Poet Knight Evangeline op Trumina would become their Poet Laudate.
Having been in place just as long as the absent op Argyle she has been much
more present in the theatre and life of those living within the guild's
halls.

The coming months will prove if they have made the correct choice, or if
she will also become an absent figurehead.

On the fourth day of Maius the Crown put out the call for volunteers to
join Her Royal Majesty's armies. Rather than conscript soldiers, an offer
has been made for a one time venture only: anyone who joins will be
compensated two gold and gain the possibility of future employment in the
Crown's military, under Commander of the Banners Lady Katarina.

The official statement is that volunteers will join a mixed Knight/soldier
patrol to scout out a village and the surrounds for enemies of the Crown
and Lord, but that some sort of combat experience is recommended amongst
volunteers.

However, rumors abound, as rumors always do, about magical activity at the
village, and that once again small rogue groups carrying the dragon banner
of Avonna have been noticed in the countryside...

(STP #39 will open around 1-2 o clock P.M. PST on Sunday, September 7th.
Anybody with a militant or combatant background is encouraged to join
(medics, banner-holders, mercenaries), even if your combat skills may not
be the best.)

After the recent assault in Edessa, it seems that the situation is still
precarious. Attacks have continued, and an attempt at a rally among a
group of Knights was countered as if the Daravi seemed to be expecting
them. Adding to the losses is Sir Aaranth ab Lightbringer, another casualty
among the Knights Lithmorran on top of those others they have experienced
in recent months.

Many months have passed since the sudden disappearance of Justiciar Black,
many months that have left the Reeves without a leader. A collection of
Magistrates were brought together to hold a Council to determine who would
be put in the seat of power in the Capital. Many names were brought up,
and sent for; but most turned down the position for one reason or another.

Finally, a letter was received by the Council, a guard had decided to put
his name in the proverbial hat.

The Council deliberated for several weeks, weighing the pros and cons of
the individual. First brought to their attention was his homeland, this
was quickly countered by how he conducted himself in public. Second was
his penchant for almost extreme choices when dealing with arrested
individuals. Silence befell the Council. Finally, one spoke up saying
that perhaps it was time for the Reeves to be more extreme.

The vote was passed, seven yea's to four nay's.

Following the months-long deliberation, the Council representative spoke to
the masses, " We have searched far and wide for our new Justiciar, and have
decided to appoint the title to Terryn dul Valistovos, may he serve justice
with the honor and dedication he has shown in his service thus far. Lord
Bless you all."

Yvelle von Raspien has recently been ousted by the Holy Synod for
failure to attend her holy duties. It's unclear if anyone has seen her of
late, and concerns over her wellbeing abound with equal strength to who
will replace the Matriarch.

In subject of: A New Cardinal Is Named

With the recent disappearance of Cardinal von Raspien, the High Synod
was summoned to come up with a plan. Many were worried as to what happened
to her and whether the forces of darkness were behind it. After a brief
deliberation, the Synod decided that the wisest course was to promote Grand
Inquisitor von Stewart to the role of Patriarch and Cardinal of Lithmore.
In addition to the normal duties, he was charged by the High Synod with
investigating the disappearance of, now, Bishop von Raspien. After the
announcement was made, and Cardinal von Stewart invested, he addressed the
crowds, "Brothers and Sisters of Dav: We will get through this process
together. Please pray for me as I assume this heavy mantel, and pray for
Mother von Raspien as search for her continues. Let Dav deliver her to us
safely."

Shortly after mid-afternoon on Augustus 13th, Earl Marshall Misune ab
Levona spoke in the crossroads to any who came. This is what he had to
say:

"After two years of being Earl Marshall of the Knight's Lithmore, I am
stepping down. Many of you may ask why, and why so suddenly since there
has been no real precurser to this. The reason is simple. During my time
as Earl Marshall, I have made enemies, mostly due to the fact that I would
not be an obedient puppet to severl different people, who would like to see
me do as they say without any questioning, even if it goes against my
beliefs. This was not something I could allow myself to do. As such I
became their enemies and now they work to see me removed, likely to be
replaced with someone who they can easily manipulate. That's not to say I
haven't made my share of mistakes, which I have, and I can admit that. I
was not prepared to be Earl Marshall, nor did I ever think I would be.
Heck I didn't even think I would last this long, since the two years before
I became earl marshall the Knights had seen four different Earl marshall's
come and go, causing instability within their ranks. I tried to provide
stability for the Knights, and I tried to do what was right for them. But
even with that, it was not enough to satisfy several powerful people within
this city."

"So now I am going to step down, and save them the trouble of forcing me to
step down. And to whoever takes up the mantle of Earl Marshall next, I
have these simple words of advice: Just be a puppet. I learned that too
late and have suffered because of it."

And with those final words, Misune ab Levona left the crossroads, and
likely left many confused citizens in his wake.

Not even a day has passed since the resignation of the former Earl
Marshall Misune ab Levona when word has come down that another is stepping
into the role. Dame Karrina ab Vazien from Gailiech March has stepped up.
This is what she said on the matter during the most recent Mass:

"While Sir Misune ab Levona did leave somethings to be desired, I will
grant him the respect and recognition that is his due for keeping the
Knights running smoothly for the past two years. I can only pray that the
Lord of the Springs and Lord Dav will grant me the necessary guidance to
keep our ranks standing tall. As such, I will be taking a formal oath of
office sometime in the coming days. An oath that I will not only give to
the Lord and Dav, but one I will give to the Crown and the people."

In the morning of Circadi, Augustus 13 SC 363 there was a flurry of
activity at the Cityguard Headquarters as Lord Justiciar Terryn dul
Valistovos swore in Lady Brynieve de Versin as the Proconsul of Lithmore.
The important post of the Duchy's preeminent lawyer has gone unfilled since
Damian von Black rose from it to take the Justiciar's position in Maius of
362.

Lady de Versin has been serving the Reeves in Lithmore since Februarius
362, and busily involved in overseeing the writing of wills, contracts and
other legal documents, including work for the previous, and present Regents
of the Crown. She also is a student of history, and has stepped down from
her position as Royal Historian at Court to focus on her work with the
Reeves. While admired by her fellows for her level head, it will remain to
be seen if her intellect and determination will trump youth and
inexperience as she attempts to fill the role of one of the kingdom's
prominent barristers.

The new Proconsul de Versin would like to remind everyone of the importance
of having an updated will on file with the Reeves.
