Due to Her Royal Majesty's need for bedrest in her delicate condition, word
from the Royal Court has confirmed that a new Keeper of the Seals is named to
handle her day to day affairs while she is resting in Seahome. A Lithmorran
Lord of Lothos, brother of the Countess Samantha ab Vortina, Gregory ab
Vortina expressed his diffident appreciation, and has ensured that open
avenues of communication were offered to the capitol seat of Lithmore.

On a cool Novembris day, the wind whipping about River Squire - the Grand
Inquisitor Empena dul Cybinese steps forward as the bells of the Cathedral
call the faithful to River Squire. Her voice rose over the gathered crowd,
"Faithful of Lithmore, we gather today to see Primrose von Tethno cleansed of
taint and brought into the fold of the love of the Lord of Springs. She has
confessed to the practice of magery and consortion with other mages. We
praise her faithfulness that despite her nature - she has embraced the Lord
willingly without a whisper of violence or an ill word against the Lord or
his conceits."

The woman's face normally a placcid mask of nearly Vandagan stoicism wrinkles
a bit as she continues, "Remember this - all others who would as she
willingly seek out the forbidden arts - Taint is an Pox. Even this woman
kind of heart and well intentioned as she might be - the choice to seek magic
brings as it always does - wreck and ruin, heartbreak and tear. Whether to
the mage or to those around them as collateral for ill action. Remember now
those who will mourn her - her husband, her family, her friends. Seek to
comfort with the knowledge of her ascendency to the Well-Spring but let it
serve as lesson."

"To those that would seek to hide their tainted nature remember those who
will be harmed and hurt by the deceit. Seek the better part of your nature
to come forward if not for your own sake - for theirs. Let us pray those who
might find the wisdom in such they might come to find the Lord's mercy."

She hesitated for a short moment, but then whispered something quiet to the
other woman in what the crowd reports was Vavardi, and lit the pyre. She
stayed within the shadowy light until the deed was done and the fire burned
done, getting some other Orderites to collect the ashes that remained and
offered blessings and a quiet prayer to those who asked for it before
departing the crowd.

Today the Earl Marshall gave a speech to the citizens of lithmore:

"Mister Bofaha Frasak, formerly page has been disjonourably discharged from
the knights lithmorran on multiple accounts of extreme rudeness, acting above
his station and severe lack of discipline. This man does not speak for, nor
represent the knights lithmorran nor their ideals. He was a hillman given a
chance by me that many other people would not have given him and he has
thrown it back in our faces.

Leading Citizen Saoirse Magorian to the Pyre in River Square, Rothgar
Astartes paused for a moment to deliver a simple speech to those gathered
within.

"Brothers and Sisters in Faith, all loyal Citizens to the Crown. We are
gathered, today, to see to the burning of Citizen Saoirse Magorian. She is
accused of Magery, most foul, daemon summoning, and corruption of others with
the foulness of the Taint. Though her crimes are great, I would beg of the
gathered to know that - whilst in my care - Citizen Magorian spoke plainly,
and with truth, and without malice. Her words have given the Holy
Inquisition much-needed intelligence, and will go on to assist those still
within. Knowing that, I beg of the gathered not to look upon this Mage with
malice in their hearts, but instead with joy, knowing that soon, she will be
reuinited with the Lord."

"Know this, too - Citizen Magorian's failure was one of the heart. It was
her impure love for another that caused her downfall, and her eventual
capture by the Holy Knights of Dav. Brothers and Sisters, today's call is
for vigilance, in all walks. The Unclean, the Tainted, are all around us.
Parading themselves as normal Citizens of the Order, under our very noses.
Vigilance, Brothers and Sisters. Vigilance is required in these trying
times. He who keeps silent to these crimes, consents to these crimes! And
those seen harboring or assisting Mages in any way will meet with the same
fate."

"And so, knowing this, we send Citizen Saoirse Magorian to the Lord, via the
Pyre. Remember, Brothers and Sisters, the purity of the Pyre before you! Do
not weep for this woman - instead, feel pride, and honor, knowing that with
but a moment of pain, she stands to gain an eternity in Paradise, alongside
the Lord of the Springs, and our Holy Dav. Lord bless her in her final
moments, and may we all meet with her within Paradise, when our time has
come."

With that, the burning started in earnest, the Inquisitor only staying for a
while longer to answer basic questions before retreating once again within
Ahalin itself, apparently eager to handle another slew of cases.

As has become an annual occurance in southside during the Yuletime Season,
wagons bearing cyan and ebony fabric were spotted making their down the south
road, towards the Southside Almshouse.

It did not take long for the firewood to be distributed to those most in need
of it among the southside citizens, with several praising the arrival of the
life saving wood.

How many such a shipment actually saves is questionable, but it is more than
had such firewood not been brought down, that much is certain.

_________________________________________________________________________
A sombre air filled River Square as the bells rang out on the eaves of Yule
to announce the public cleansing of a penitent Vlora von Vashaak. Dragged
from the darkened confines of Ahalin, the woman seemed unable to walk to her
own punishment and was instead carried bodily by the High Inquisitor Rothgar
Astartes to meet receive her penance - to be publicly shorn, scourged, and
branded with the mark of the heretic.

The Grand Inquisitor Empena dul Cybinese stepped forward to give the follow
speech: "Faithful of Lithmore, here stands Vlora von Vashaak, who has come to
take her punishment and gain her penance for sin and heresy. She stands
before you penitent that she has fallen to the Law of Consortion. She has
taken a mage as friend, confidant, and lover, and as such was put under foul
guise into things most terrible. She has fallen into heresy as a result.
She will walk amongst us from now until the end of her days, branded as a
reminder to all of the faithful about the fall from grace that follows such
willfulness. That only through choice and will do we stay free of taint and
sin. She will will be whipped and scourged so that her flesh from now and
ever reminds her of the pain that comes from such choice, and she will be
shaved - pride and lust are sins that cause the heart to falter."

Von Vashaak was then forcefully shaved of her beautiful dark hair clump by
clump and bit by bit in rough fashion by the High Inquisitor, the dark locks
tossed to the crowds of freemen who gathered them up to use as treasures or
doll hair or who can only begin to guess. Her scourging followed, much to
the seeming delight of people in the crowd despite the fact that the row
closest to the excitement got sprayed with blood for the effort and she was
allowed her own penitent's speech before her branding:

"Citizens and Davites of Lithmore. I have sinned. I have sinned more than I
thought I was capable of, I have strayed far from the path of [redacted]. My
actions have wrought pain, and misery upon myself and those I care about. I
have betrayed the Holy Order, and the Knights Lithmorran. I know my actions
were wrong, foolish. The poison people claim to be love blinded them-- I
drank of it freely and without restraint. I was blinded and lead astray, as
the love crept into my heart like a dagger through my chest-- the blade
turning to open the wound, spilling my soul to bear witness to my
wickedness."

"I do not deserve forgiveness for what I have done. I am a warning, an
example to remember, how even the strongest may fall to sin and despair with
a single moment of weakness. That is all that is required for the taint to
slither its insidious thoughts into your mind. Stay vigilant, always. Do
not stray as I did."

"The order has been kind, and merciful, not that I deserve it. I have been
given a chance to leave the Urth with something good and continue to serve
the people as best I am able. The Holy Order of Dav is the shield against
the blackness of mans souls. We all harbour the capacity for evil. It is by
our strength of will, and the trust we place in the Holy Order to guide us to
keep it at bay. I am broken. A shattered sword in the night and the Holy
Order will re-forge me into something better. I owe them everything, and my
future lies in service and repentance."

After the brutal branding that will no doubt forever scar the once beautiful
face of the penitent, the Grand Inquisitor released the crowd of gathered
faithful with the following conclusion: "Witness, Lithmore, and lament -
lament for the price of the purification of sin, pray and find confession,
cleanse and rid yourself of such things before they come to such illness."

Appearing in River Square, High Inquisitor Rothgar Astartes had in tow
Citizen Maya Rivers, lead not in chains, but in simple rope, the woman
herself looking freshly bathed and cleaned for her Pyring. Leading her out
into the Square, Astartes had this to say to the gathering crowd :

"Brothers, and Sisters in Faith. I come before you, brought low and
personally humbled by the words and actions of the Comrade Citizen you see
before you : Miss Maya Rivers. Days ago, she personally sought me and the
Holy Order out, begging that we assist her with her problems of the mind.
Miss Rivers was plagued by dreams sent to her by Mages, and complained of
being able to see the world beyond ours, that foul Aether that Mages use and
abuse for their own disgusting ways."

"These actions, of course, are those of a willing and proper Davite. This is
not what stunned me. Miss Rivers actions, already extraordinary, were backed
by beautiful and poignant words. Words of honor, and Faith, and sacrifice
for Man, and for the Lord. I have been humbled. Completely. By all that
Comrade Rivers has said, and done, for Faith and for the Lord."

"And so, upon this day, I beg of you - do not think foul of Comrade Rivers.
Do not think ill of the Taint that was forced upon her. Know this : she is
one of the most honourable and Faithful women that I have known within
Lithmore, and rather than mourn her death, I will celebrate her life, and all
that she has taught me in these last few days. And so, Comrade Rivers, I
kneel to you, in this moment. And I pray that, when my time has come, we
will once again meet in Paradise, pure and whole, and you may look upon me
with honour and pride, and call me Brother once again."

With that, the Pyre was lit, and true to his word, Astartes dropped to a knee
to honour the woman sent to the flames, staying there until the flames died
out completely.

In subject of: Merchants' New Leadership Announced
Date : Sun Sep 10 15:07:06 2017
Expires : Fri Jun 5 15:07:16 2020

_________________________________________________________________________
Amidst a growing crowd within the Merchants' opulent guildhall, shortly after
the start of the new year, the darkly-dressed Eirian ab Castell stepped onto
an impromptu platform, giving himself just enough added height to be seen and
heard by all.

"My fellow Merchants, thank you for gathering here today," he began, lifting
his hands in a gesture of solidarity. "This past year has been fraught with
instability and uncertainty: the offices of the Grand Magnate and Magnate of
Lithmore have been empty or idle nearly as often as they have been occupied.
That changes now."

"The esteemed Magnates of Farin, Vavard, Vandago, and Tubor have chosen a new
leader of the Merchants. And, as your new Grand Magnate, I promise to make
your monthly dues worthwhile. I will support your growth as traders and
craftsmen, and I will be an advocate for the respect and recognition each of
you deserves. You represent a crucial element of Lithmorran society, and
without your skilled work, your dedication to your chosen crafts, this city
would wither and toil." He paused briefly then, allowing the palm of one hand
to rest idly upon the pommel of his sword.

"I also intend to put the guild's coffers to good use. With the assistance
of a new Magnate, my office will be organizing events meant to showcase and
advertise -your- talents, to draw business to your shops, your trades. And,
in turn, your dues will help contribute to the prosperity of Lithmore as a
whole, by supporting the city's other vital institutions: the Reeves who keep
your shops free of crime, for example, and the Physicians who keep you at
your workbench and out of the sickbed."

Turning, he gestured someone from the crowd forward, to join him on the
platform. "And now, I introduce your new Magnate: Miss Evani le Tavari.
Though relatively inexperienced, Miss Tavari has shown great dedication and
promise. I will be depending on her to help meet the day-to-day needs of the
guild's local chapter. Please give her your utmost support." And with that,
he stepped down from the platform, allowing Evani to say a few words.

Moving to take the man's place, her hair in its usually coiffed state, Evani
raised her eyes to the crowd and smiled gently at those gathered. "As
Magnate of this guild, I will strive to help anyone in need. I will work
with Lord Eirian ab Castell to make sure everything runs smoothly and will
fill the role to the best of my abilities," she began amidst applause, her
accented words carrying across the hall, firm and clear like those of a
ship's Captain.

She waited a beat until the crowd had quieted, then reiterated, "My job is to
help you all, and as Magnate, I will strive to do just that. I will work as
hard as the Grand Magnate himself to ensure this guild runs like clockwork
and that every Merchant gets what he or she needs. Thank you." Smiling
still, the Tubori woman stepped down from the platform, her hands clasped
delicately in front of her and her eyes shining with a soft joy. She looked
confident and immaculately-dressed, her stance composed.

The Grand Magnate drew the announcements to a close by stating that letters
to current members would be forthcoming, along with reviews for promotion and
invitations to meet. Soon after, the makeshift platform was taken apart, and
the crowd eventually dispersed.

After the death rattle of the last doppelganger had hissed, the
people of Lithmore felt it was the last they'd see of the unpleasant
creatures. But strange things are happening in Lithmore again. People have
been spotted missing limbs which crumble at the tip like old clay. Reports
are rife of people without heads solemnly dragging themselves through river
square at night. People who were thought to be long dead have appeared
again, bright as a daisy. Murmurs of an upheaval work their way through the
taverns of Lithmore like a cold draft. Something is very wrong, and it's
down to the collective people of Lithmore to... Take a good look in the
mirror... And put a stop to it.

(OOC: The doppelganger event run by Janus will continue Friday the 15th,
6:00pm GMT, and will start at the Crossroads (latecomers welcome). Everyone is
invited, but attendence is optional. Be a part of history!)
