Re: Noble Advancement

I have no problem with players seeking nobles ICly with the intent of gaining admittance to court as a lowly 'courtier', provided that the existing nobles treat this with the weight that it deserves and vette them with real sponsorship, etc. So, in short, I see nothing wrong with a noble seeking sys...

Re: Feedback on new combat system

By nature, TI's theme is fantasy novel-esque, but you can't decouple theme entirely from reality because the very act of mimicing reality, under fixed, differeing circumstances, is what makes RP interesting. It's the "what if X happened in a place where reality was like Y" question. Certainly what i...

Re: Noble Advancement

Because RP is subjective. We've had a few courtiers come in without titles, but the son/daughter of a duke... or why wouldn't someone marry an NPC? When these RP ways come up, how can their validty be weighed? Also, playerscycle out. The nobles will stagnate if closed completely. They are useful dri...

Re: Social Game

We're in the midst of a first phase for something exactly like this. Go into the Ideas forum and Accepted ideas, then look for "Followers". Az will be turning out the first phase of this when he can. Right now we have to get the first steps in and see how people act with it because we're not sure ho...

Re: Feedback on new combat system

Not sure I see why an ex-soldier isn't viable or a mercenary. There is a war going on on the Daravi border. Let us not forget that knights are elite -religious- enforcers. Drop the religious bit and they're just thugs, and if you compare the world of TI thug-wise, I think most of the population has ...

Re: Noble Advancement

I reckon nobility should be clsed to new nobles, but old ones left alone, and new nobles get titles or title promotions through paying QP to be allowed to seek the guild or promotion...

Not married to it, just throwing out an idea.

Re: RP Touch Points

Oddly enough, I've actually gotten some interesting push back against the social "game" aspect of TI with the support code going in - namely a concern that advancing will become an issue of social skill and that the person in question felt that they are well liked, but not good at actually garnering...

Re: Feedback on new combat system

Leather has a reduced movement cost in comparison to plate. Anyone here actually wearing or use platemail to comment on what it costs them to go running around in it? How easy is it to recover moves at the moment? Sleeping and resting are two ways to recover moves now, whereas sleep had been depreci...

Re: Feedback on new combat system

I have to admit, this is the first time I've seen concerns raised that touch on things that I find valid about armor - Specifically, multi-combat is hard to arrange. That's true and something that probably wasn't well considered, so I'll think on that. However, a lot of the above post is invalid as ...

Re: Disbanding Guilds

There is a legal definition of heresy, actually, and sins expressly stated. It's an expression of the player's view that states that going against the Order's view is heresy. Rather, going against the Lord of the Spring's law is heresy - it just so happens that some members of the Order view themsel...
