It'll probably never get used that way, and like you said it can already take days to get a match.

But perhaps it could alert you that it's on when you log in?

Could osay be fixed to allow people to target someone present with /, so that you can reference someone more fluidly, no matter what others present know them by?

Could be a chandlery or unskilled recipe perhaps? Suggested ingredients: 3x charcoal, or 3x scraps of wood (burned to ashes in the thread) a pile of hay (lines the bottom of the cask, prevents the ash from clogging the drain holes) Suggested tools: a small fire-starting tool of black flint and sharp...

And/or lye could become craftable. It's quite easy to make, requiring wood ashes and rainwater.

Could the hair brushes made with artwork be changed from being applied on use, to being applied with apply, so someone can brush someone else's hair, or groom a pet? Would be a great tool for lady's maids, beauticians, and pet/horse groomers!

If some of the other suggestions were implemented, I'd be fine with exile being free. What could cost x IP is a warrant that turns the NPC population against them to enforce an exile if they return to grid, or bringing to bear NPCs in order to capture them to exile them.

My suggestion was just as a NPC, not a retainer. Though there is the follow/nofollow script that could be added on, if someone wanted to take them with them.
