Re: Noble Wealth
If I'm understanding him correctly, Puciek is referring to the fact that nobles used to rely heavily on the purchase silver command, which made it easy to come up with cash for frivolous on-the-fly expenses or instantly add wings to entire mansions. However, it was also assumed, though perhaps not o...

Re: Alt convo, from OOC meeting 10/21/2017
I'm one of those one-or-two alts people, and I agree with those who have already said that if this even is a problem, then it ought to be resolved at the level of the individual player or players who are having trouble keeping their storylines separate.

Re: Searching a Room
Pretty sure sneak/hide scales skill vs wisdom of the searcher as to whether they're revealed, so this should cause no extra harm to the hidee. Would need a code check on that. You mean that people being able to willy-nilly run searches in rooms as they please for player, without having to need just...

Re: Searching a Room
What about extending search utility? Instead of one option to cover everything, have different options. "search room" lets you look for hidden people or objects and has a cooldown of 8 RL hours. "search secrets" lets you look for hidden exits and has the seven day cooldown. This still prevents spam...

Re: Searching a Room
If I'm remembering correctly, the current 7-day limit came into play around the time secrets were introduced and, as has been suggested, is intended to curb abuse and limit metagaming. I think the limit was probably mostly focused on secrets and that the inability to double-check the room for stowaw...

Re: Bring back top 10 Rp... with a twist!
Respectfully, I disagree. While players make a lot of decisions, regularly, that are based on whether they think a player is around, available, or active, the instances to which I'm referring are indeed a form of (perhaps minor) metagaming. If my character only has reason to think that someone has g...

Re: Bring back top 10 Rp... with a twist!
I've caught myself metagaming the old activity output before -- not on purpose, but the list would occasionally reveal to me that PCs who were supposedly "gone" or "laying low" were actually QUITE active, and I found that it was affecting whether or not I talked about those people in rumors, whether...

Re: Thinking about thinking. (Help!)
Interesting timing! I just published a blog post on using the think command that I'd been putting together this past week. It's not exactly aimed at answering the OP's question, but it may stir up some additional ideas.

Re: Gentry and the Southside
At least that would mean IC work having a visible effect on that kind of thing. But "Good" and "Evil" and "Lawful" and "Unlawful" are two different scales. One can be Unlawful but still Pious, otherwise Piety and Lawfulness wouldn't be separate metrics, just like they are on a D & D alignment sheet...
