Re: Inactive in RP
And to be frank, if we want to talk about social pressure, we can also talk about the OOC pressure those of us trying to timebox our play receive from others, as well as the strange IC reactions we sometimes receive. It has not been a welcoming environment. I will admit that I'm honestly not 100% s...

Re: Inactive in RP
I have other commitments that I didn't when I was in university. I would state this here is likely true for the majority of "longer term MUDers" which a lot of folks of all roughly the same age range picked up MUDing as a habit in younger years when they had less responsibilities. Those same people...

Re: Assets And Economy
Speaking from experience - the way you want to go is *not* utilizing NPCs as a crutch for a lack of a player economy. It circumvents and invalidates the whole system, injects significant wealth into the game by deleting the IC impact of your actions, and allows any flaws and problems in player-to-p...

Re: Assets And Economy
It doesn't help that most ways of selling things ICly operate at a loss. Foraged goods are seldom valuable despite their big MV cost, and crafting happens at a big loss. - The thing about foraged goods is you need to do a cost-benefit ratio. Something you can otherwise buy for 1 silver is likely no...

Re: Charali Racial Perspectives
What I'm trying to get at here is there's two ways of interpreting and world building around our setting. One gives us a deeper (thousands of years) pre-history, and one asks us to just suspend disbelief and say Lithmore's white for no reason whatsoever. I'd prefer the former. Except, I've literall...

Re: Charali Racial Perspectives
We're what, 250 years in from the Consolidation? That's not long enough for a language to split. That's like the time depth between English dialects in England's far flung colonies. It's not really comparable to the fissioning of Latin into Romance languages as that occurred over a much longer time...

1. Vavard. Originally a proto-Tubori trading post that assimilated a large chunk of the local populace (sometimes but not always by force), that prefers to ignore the obvious linguistic and physical similarities to their Charalin neighbours. Lithmorran influences are That's ... not the history of V...

Re: Inactive in RP
Do we think informing people ahead of time might help matters? (IE - I have from X to Y and want to scene could we prioritize it?)It means I don't log in unless I have 3 hours to commit to a scene because people will get offended, OOC, if you leave something quickly due to a lack of time.

Re: Change the term race to origins?
-The character statistic is ambiguous. Daravi disguising as Farin have historically set their "race" to Farin. There have been pale-skinned Farin and Vandagan characters -- the decision I recall being that 'race' is a character's origin (or claimed origin). This could be an entirely separate but re...
