Re: Theme Enforcement - the gentle approach

There is a serf class that exists below Freemen. As I understand it, serfs are exactly what's being discussed - people who are absolutely boned and 100% obedient to even a gentry's desires, and live off some meager allowance given to them by their lord. Freemen are those who have distinguished thems...

Re: Theme Enforcement - the gentle approach

Back when the vote happened I was in favor of the theme being more rigidly enforced, but that was 90% because of a now banned player's character. As of right now I'm dealing with a debate with myself regarding this exact same topic, so I'll be looking in on the thread often.

Re: Daravi and the Lack of Info

In one of the many books within the Grand Library, there's one that goes fairly extensively into the way Daravi pursue warfare. They, more or less, are not above using fairly horrific tactics to secure an advantage. That speaks to me of a society that is focused entirely on results - not unlike the ...

writing a serial story yeah boy

This is a bit of a shill, but I like writing (obviously, since I'm playing TI) and I've started a serial novel. I'd normally be against putting this up somewhere public like this, but considering that I've just gotten Chapter 7 up, I think I can say this one will probably stick for a while at least....

Re: A beloved order

There's a lot of very interesting ideas here, and I'd like to address them one by one. For those who are unaware I'm the player of the current Archbishop, and I am also very new to the Order as I've only been playing him for about two months now. So maybe it's just because I'm newer, but a lot of th...

Re: [Poll] Seneschal

As far as freemen being allowed to run, playing Jamus during the election was a very fun time. I was extremely worried OOCly that he might actually win at a certain point and I'd have to have both an Archbishop AND a Seneschal character, but the actual running was absolutely fantastic. The debate be...

Re: Length of Poses

Alright, cool! I avoid filler as much as possible - which basically means I like some flowery descriptions once in a while even if they don't really fit. Mostly I just have fun typing long poses, and I don't particularly mind if I get a short one back so long as, yeah, it isn't immediately resolving...

Length of Poses

This is something I've been wondering about for some time - how long is the ideal pose? For me personally, I tend to go for the very, very long ones. I come from games where a one paragraph pose was considered a 'quickie', and where five paragraph poses were considered only somewhat exceptional. I'v...

Re: Renton Feland's Review of Eathon Banor

The Review of Mitch dul Ormonde <In The Deep> Renton walks down the stairs at a slow, steady pace. He is flanked on his right and left sides by grim-faced guards, each of them holding a lantern. They float through the darkness like will-o-the-wisps, seeming hardly to penetrate the dark despite their...

Re: Tax info and metagaming concerns

One of the nice things about playing MUDs is that generally, only the people who are interested in having a fun time tend to get into them. The barrier to entry is so high that you can have a generous measure of trust in the players, and the expectation that they'll allow their characters to be beat...
