Re: On the Power of mattack
The problem is, as I see it, that mages are not supposed to be able to stand toe-to-toe with Knights in outright combat using magery - they're supposed to be able to do so if they invest in combat, sure, but using magic? Nope. But maxed-out fighters are getting walloped in a one-on-one with a mage u...

Re: RP Quests - Brainstorming Thread
Domain: Lawfulness When to fire: When lawfulness is anywhere below midpoint Offer: $n has spotted a wanted thief prowling around $s house, but the Reeves are overworked and understaffed. If $e could just ensure they had the manpower to set up an ambush, $e could collect that bounty reward... Goal: R...

Re: [Poll] City Metric, City Report, City Forecast, and Seneschal
I am also having the guild/noble problem, being a noble with GL permissions in the Order - my vote is superseded by the Order's vote, I think. I didn't report it because I haven't really been using the system. The ambiguity in the votes is, for me, not a feature but a problem; it makes the system al...

Re: [Poll] City Metric, City Report, City Forecast, and Seneschal
I can actually respond to this: As Seneschal I know exactly who voted how, and there are two ways to vote. You can vote in the affirmative: city support <metric> <reasoning> (Note the reasoning needs to be added to the help file). This is a vote to try and improve that particular metric. Right, but...

Re: RP Quests
I'm interested in generating some ideas, but some guideline questions: 1) Should the rewards for subversion quests be higher than support quests? I'd say so - 2x perhaps? 2) What currency are acceptable rewards? Money clearly, but IP? Ranks in skills? XP? QP? 3) Is it reasonable to have questions wi...

Re: [Poll] City Metric, City Report, City Forecast, and Seneschal
I voted negative because, while I am somewhat positive toward the concept of the system, in practice I'm not sure it's working at all. So here is a list of issues and suggestions I personally have: 1) Cycles are too fast. There's no real time to politic about who should vote for what when it's cycli...

Tweaks to diseases
Right now, I think the conditions that hold for diseases may be a bit unrealistically harsh. I just checked through my logs; I was dirty for about 30 minutes (while I slept back some missing HP from a wound) and then went to get my character a bath. This was apparently long enough to get lice! Even ...

Re: [Poll] Give Us Grit
I'm seeing this disconnect where people are saying "I don't want more grit", but also supporting a lot of the policies listed in the post (if not all of them). I think that grit is a fuzzy and imprecise term, and it may be doing more harm than good. Me, I don't want a crueler, nastier theme, which i...

Re: Theme Enforcement - the gentle approach
I think #2 should be handled just by having a talk with the noble to make sure they understand theme (and requiring thematic noble apps with a section, perhaps, about how they relate to the lower class? HEad that off at the pass!) #1 and #3 are harder. The issue I have with the "handle it IC!" thing...

Re: Theme Enforcement - the gentle approach
Re: Renton: I do think your reluctance to burn people has been coming through in your RP. You're a fantastic RPer, though, and I totally understand how hard it is to kill someone off. Ultimately, I personally am a fan of a sort of "passive" Order - that is to say, one that doesn't strongly investiga...
