Re: The Stranglehold of the Holy Order
Thanks The_LastGoodDragon for the quotation of help cleansing. That's indeed the sentence I was commenting. As for the discussion about the "agreement", I did not meant that the penance had to be agreeable. I only meant that, having to deal with the seal of the confession, the priest had not much ot...

Re: The Stranglehold of the Holy Order
I think you're right. And by the way, I can't find that helpfile stating that confessing to an inquisitor is not the same thing as confessing to a priest. It may not exist, or that sentence may come from a IC book.

Re: The Stranglehold of the Holy Order
There's nonetheless that help file (help confession I think it was), that states that confessing to an inquisitor is not the same thing as confessing to a priest. Examples would be welcome to clarify that but, here is how I understand it: - if you say you are sinning with X or Y, expect the inquisit...

Re: Mages and confessions
To be fair, you've approached these subjects IC'ly over three different characters and haven't been pyred. To be fair, I think that only one of my characters approached this subject, in a book. The content has not been commented ICly, so, the discussion did not happen. This exact discussion is only...

Re: Mages and confessions
By reading this kind of sentence, I understand there is no way to approach these subjects ICly, unless I would want to be pyred. If you want to RP your characters as having some conflict with this, that's fine.

Re: Rumor circles and auto spawns
I would'nt mind the cathedral being quieter about rumors not relative to the order. I always found the rumors were disturbing there.

Re: Mages and confessions
With that said, I was always relatively certain via helpfiles and lore that the Pyring itself guaranteed that you'd go to Paradise. There's actually one helpfile stating that: it's "help order tutorial", a relatively recent addition. The goal of the paragraph is to tell the GI he should use his mig...

Re: Mages and confessions
Which is great for the other thread, but this thread is an offshoot of that specifically revolving around Mages confession to Priests Allright. So, here is my opinion on that: If I were a mage, I'd love to confess. If I had the chance to play a priest, I would love to hear a mage confessing, and ha...

Re: Mages and confessions
Hey Starstarfish, That thread did not begun as part of a mage VS order discussion, but as part of a clergy VS inquisition discussion. The case of confession only came up as an example of things where the inquisition forces an interpretation of the theme which may be an impediment to the flourishing ...

Re: Mages and confessions
Someone dragged unwillingly to the Pyre would not go to the Fontis and enjoy that splendor, but would at least be spared the damnation of being a mage I'm glad you agree with that idea! But it might worth noting that one of my acolyte was qualified heretic for saying this to a GI. Imagine your acol...
