When there is no coded effect, death or otherwise, people can just ignore it and will do so when it's inconvenient. I'm definitely in favor of effects: permanent or temporary but with (relatively) long-term, debilitating coded effect on characters.

I'd also like to see preventive measures for contraction and contagion, if possible (e.g. regular bathing, mineral baths, eating a hearty meal, drinking a hot tea), as well as a cooldown representing an active immunity against whatever illness was just overcome, so that people aren't forced to RP b...

I think that should be the other way around. When morale is low, rumors stick because people are unhappy when morale is high, people ignore them/circulate them less.
