Re: Catering to a Toxic Portion of the Playerbase

A quick something - can we please change the name of this thread to something less inflammatory?

Re: Catering to a Toxic Portion of the Playerbase

I will say that, despite tensions clearly being high right now, people are doing an amazing job staying civil, so kudos to everyone on that! Any other MUD community would have exploded into mass name calling by now.

Re: Catering to a Toxic Portion of the Playerbase

I personally think we should put more emphasis on moderation and arbitration rather than relying on rules to resolve conflicts. I don't think we'll ever find a perfect rule to apply in every situation and always get a satisfactory result. This game is built on a foundation of human relationships, wh...

Re: Catering to a Toxic Portion of the Playerbase

I believe that having completely fair PVP is mutually exclusive with both staff alts and multiplay both, but I also feel that sacrificing things just for the sake of fair PVP, which is not necessarily what everyone is here for, would be heavily to the detriment of the game. It's a very complicated p...

Re: Whererp off by default

WhereRP can't be treated as an active invitation unless it's an active decision, unfortunately!

Re: "Batman Theory," or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the RP

I would be wary of using Armageddon or particularly Sindome as an example - both of these games have a reputation for having a fairly toxic OOC culture. I played Sindome for about a year and I can confirm that personally - the staff were regularly immature and abusive to the players, and frequently ...

Show subranks on guildlist

It would be nice, at least for the Merchants, if subranks showed up on Guildlist along with a member's rank - that way, there'd be a really easily accessible list of active merchants and their primary trades that people could easily reference! This may be handy for the other guilds too, but I'm not ...

Re: "Batman Theory," or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the RP

Oh, I definitely don't think we should change the status quo of the game that drastically - "if I had my way" definitely isn't always the best way, after all! But I agree that our antagonists need a little bit of a leg up, as long as they're careful and responsible with it. On another game I played,...

Re: Whererp off by default

In the case of adding an active 'invitation' state, I think the default state would mean something along the lines of 'not actively avoiding being found on the grid, but not actively seeking RP either'.

Re: "Batman Theory," or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the RP

I agree with this post wholeheartedly - I've long been of the opinion that regular antagonists in the game should have some special treatment, and that killing them off or gimping them irrevocably should be the denouement to a long career of conflict and intrigue, if it happens at all. Part of the p...
