Re: Small Sponsorship Improvements

I'm not prepared for seeking to become OOC, but I'll think about what we can or should do. To be clear: I don't think SEEKING should be OOC, but I do think SPONSORSHIP should have the OPTION of being OOC. To me, it doesn't make much sense that a prospective merchant would need more than a single me...

Re: Writing Good Rumours

Another +1 for circles explanation. I never did really understand the point of circles until this thread - I mean, I know it's "what group(s) are talking about this" but it seemed pretty much ignorable after that. I do like the idea of being used to frame the conversation. Not every reply needs to b...

Re: Log of OOC Meeting 26/03/2016

I think it'd also be helpful to make it policy that messengers hired are always indeed hired messengers, and shouldn't be leveraged as concerned bystanders or panicking citizens running through the streets. Which is to say, if you're being threatened at knifepoint, or otherwise being put in a situa...

Re: Yeastsmithing

Honestly, in the tech time period we're supposed to represent, most fermentations would be open (meaning just use random yeast and bacteria that float in from the air, not cultivated or cultured yeasts). The two specific brewing yeast strains weren't really identified or commercially available until...

Re: Languages, Accents, and Dialects

As the person who generated the language "garble" rules (on a previous version of the game, but it's currently the same on TI:L) I can hopefully provide some insight into the thought process behind it. Obviously I don't claim any kinda authority as far as how anyone should play or do anything, so fe...

Re: Retainer Upkeep Costs

It works exactly like taxes... Not to be "that guy" but taxes are OOC monthly >.> Just saying it wouldn't HAVE to be weekly, there is clearly a precedent for another option. Though, to the various people pushing for a monthly payment, I figure if it were made monthly the cost would probably be incr...

Re: Thematic Clarification

The kingdoms are not considered seperate entities, correct? They all fall under the Crown... ... but why do I keep seeing it in the form of 'YOU BETTER NOT UPSET THIS GROUP!'? Is this something that was perpetuated by the city report when it was first adopted? They're vassals to the Crown. Lithmore...

Re: Retainer Upkeep Costs

Unfortunately, NPC bodyguards have a huge advantage over PC bodyguards in that they can always be around! I think this is probably the main reason you don't see more PC bodyguards, rather than it being a cost issue. Another benefit of PC guards: PC guards can actually FIGHT BACK, not only take dama...

Just saying.

Re: RP Philosophy and You

Not touching most of this, but I think it's worth pointing out: Having a hood up by code means you are concealing your face. Concealing your face almost always has negative connotations unless it's the dead of winter and it's a health hazard otherwise (something a hood won't help anyway). You can p...
