Re: Latency clarification

The only way that latents "awaken with time" that I'm aware of is through QP expenditure - as per HELP QP, you can spend 50 (!) QP to awaken a latent mage. (It does not have to be your character, afaik.)

Re: Latency clarification

Edited out some unnecessary commentary. As far as I know, there aren't any ways to externally -know- if someone is a latent, and if there are, it appears they're highly secretive and rarely used. It would be good to have updated guidance on how latency is supposed to work, since latents are honestly...

Re: Inactive in RP

I would probably go so far as to say there is a spectrum of two not-always compatible playstyles on TI: One where the game is primarily a collaborative creative writing medium with arbitrators (code, staff) only where necessary, and one where TI is a game primarily driven by code verbs that allow fo...

Re: Inactive in RP

And to be frank, if we want to talk about social pressure, we can also talk about the OOC pressure those of us trying to timebox our play receive from others, as well as the strange IC reactions we sometimes receive. It has not been a welcoming environment. I will admit that I'm honestly not 100% s...

Re: Inactive in RP

If we want to say that TI is a game that is culturally open to especially long (time-wise) poses, and that those can happen in public and on a regular basis and even when , that's fine . Those of us who don't have time for that (and weren't served that expectation many years ago) can pack up our toy...

Re: Inactive in RP

I'll be open with it: I do have a problem when someone makes the choice to use a certain RP style that negatively impacts the game for people who have tight play schedules and characters who need to get multiple things done in a day. TI is a game about intrigue and social connections; even if you wo...

Re: Inactive in RP

1) Do you have additional suggestions on how to alleviate this problem that haven't already been made? Is this from a code/design perspective or a community one or both? 2) What is your preferred pace of RP, and when are you 'waiting too long' for another emote to come out? For me 5 minutes is the ...

Re: Assets And Economy

It doesn't help that most ways of selling things ICly operate at a loss. Foraged goods are seldom valuable despite their big MV cost, and crafting happens at a big loss. If you are crafting at a loss, why continue with it? I played a crafter few years back, and it was profitable from the onset (he ...

Re: Assets And Economy

I also want to advocate for hiring us poor folks to do silly stuff. Don’t want to sort your mail? Make a freeman do it? Bored? Commission some extraordinarily intricate object with little-to-no practical use. Tired of walking around grid? Hire a street urchin to do shopping for you and let them kee...
